IT'S STILL TIME TO GO HOME!
We finished up our tour and grabbed our luggage. One last sweep of the room and we left to catch the Magical Express back to the airport.
It's never fun to leave:
On our way back to the airport we discussed how the evening was going to unfold. When I scheduled this trip I was unaware that Michael and Elsa's winter concert would be on the same night that our flight brought us home. Michael was indifferent to this situation, but Elsa
really wanted to make it back in time to sing with the choir and play her clarinet with the band. Our plan from the beginning was to hurry home and hope the hour buffer would allow her to participate. She had OK'd it with her music teachers to attend, but she was starting to have second thoughts. She was exhausted and still feeling a little bit punky and was having a hard time making the decision.
We had initially planned to pick up the babies the next morning, but for a handful of reasons (including the fact that we missed them terribly) I decided I would drop Elsa off for the concert, drive the hour to pick the boys up, get them to bed, and find someone to bring Elsa home from the concert. Michael had been very quiet during this planning, hoping he could just skip the concert and come with me.
We made it to the airport with no concrete decisions and sat down in the lobby to eat the Disney pizza we brought with us for lunch. This was our first time eating Disney pizza off property and I am happy to report it tasted just as good!
The only draw back to using Magical Express is they dictate how early you arrive at the airport and now we had 2 hours to kill. But that was ok, because they have a
Disney Store there too!
Security was a breeze and none of us had to get scanned. Phew! Michael was so afraid his scans were going to end up on the internet and I just didn't want the employees who were scanning to be scarred for life after viewing mine.
The wait for our plane went quickly and before we knew it we were on our way home! Once we were in the air, Elsa informed me of her decision to skip the concert and go straight over to pick up the boys. She knew if she went to the concert she wouldn't see them till the next evening and she missed them something fierce! I had made the choice before we left to keep my conversations about the babies to a minimum during this trip. I silently vowed not to mention how I missed them. This was going to be about Michael, Elsa, and I. It was surpising to me that the kids started mentioning them in the airport on the way
to Disney. All the babies and toddlers reminded them of E and C. There were lots of "When E is older he's gonna do that" or "Doesn't he look just lik C?" or "That's how E would sound if he was here now seeing that!"
They missed them so much during this trip and didn't hesitate to say it! This was great to see as I have often wondered if altering our family with foster children would ultimately end up being positive or negative. Love is never negative and they were overflowing with love for those boys!
Before we knew it we touched down in the land of snow and more snow and our van had the audacity to welcome us like this:
As it turns out we needn't have worried about the concert as the roads were really slow going and we would have never made it back in time anyways. It took us 2 hours to get to where the boys had stayed for the week. It was so wonderful to be a unit of 5 again!
And this is where our vacation officially came to an end. It was a much needed trip for the three of us and we can't wait to go back! Thanks for joining me and as I have said before:
May all your vacations be full of love, joy, and adult sized Mice wearing pants.
