Can anyone recommend some websites for the SAHM that needs some encouragement. Now that my kids are all going to be in school, I am feeling a bit lost out here in SAHM land! I believe that being here for my kids is very important, but I would love to find some like-minded individuals.

I don't know of any websites, but do you belong to a Church? I belong to a wonderful Mom's group at our Church and it was a lifesaver when my kids were small. It was all SAHM's. Now that my kids are older it was nice being a mentor for the newer Mom's.

I feel the same as you do, being home for my kids, but honestly, just this week I got a P/T job.
I am now working in out HS cafeteria!! It is PERFECT. 10am to 2pm.
Anyway here is a ((HUG)) for you.. i know exactly how you feel, I would not be working if it wasn't for this job, it just fell into my lap and it is great.

Try www.momsclub.org

They have chapters all over. I love my chapter, but it is geared towards moms that still have preschoolers. Some chapters due have stuff/activities/groups for moms of school aged children. Could be worth checking into.

Same here! I am a SAHM and all my friends that were are now employed. I am very happy with my decision to be a SAHM. Atleast you know you are not alone:goodvibes

Thanks everyone. I do belong to a church, but we are in a small town and really don't have any "mom" groups. I will check out the above momsclub link though. And thanks JessRabbit, it is good to hear that I am not alone!! :)

Can't help with specific SAHM's groups but I would try looking for activities or hobbies that are of interest to you. I have several friends that have taken up bridge, joined book clubs, do volunteer work, walking groups, sporting clubs, swimming etc.
Over the years I have done a number of distance education subjects in archaeology which I really enjoyed and joined a camera club which is an ongoing passion. I did a lot of volunteer work at my son's school but felt it was important to have my own interests.

Good Luck finding something that you enjoy.

that is my dream situation! Once DS starts going to school, I want to be a lunch lady! It's really the perfect job hour wise, home to send them to school, home to welcome them back and off when they are. I really hope I can snag a job like that when the time comes!

I am a SAHM too and it is always nice to connect with other moms in the same boat!

Have you tried meetup.com? You plug in your zip code and you can look for social groups in your area - whether it be SAHM/parenting groups or even book clubs, hobby clubs, fitness groups, etc. I know you mentioned you are from a small town so there may not be many groups in your area but it may be worth a try :)

Also, I like cafemom.com. It's a great place to "meet" other like-minded moms online!
