Okay...just about had a nervous breakdown!
Called a few days ago and told the CM that I had not received a postcard but wondered if I qualified for the 40% off promo. He was very nice and put me on hold while he checked. I could tell from the prices he was quoting that I was getting the discount. I went ahead and reserved CR w/7-day PH.
After thinking about it a bit, I realized I had unused tickets from our last visit that could be used towards an AP, so I called yesterday and asked the CM to change the resv. to room-only. At first she said I would lose the discount and to just wait for AP rates to come out. I asked her to please double check as it was my understanding that the promo. was for room-only as well as packages. After placing me on hold, she came back and said everything was taken care of and confirmed that I still had until 2/9 to pay the deposit.
Went online last night after reading all the posts regarding the validity of the resv. being made without the recepient actually having knowledge of a specific pin # and just wanted to double check the reservation. OMG...the WDW website said my resv. was canceled! I was upset as I felt I had been upfront with the CM and the least they could have done was called or emailed to tell me they were going to cancel and to give me the option of keeping the resv. at regular rate.
Anyway, after stewing about it all night I called this morning and spoke to a CM to ask what had happened. I panicked over nothing -- apparently when I switched to room-only, it generated a new resv. number. It would have been nice if the CM I spoke with yesterday would have given me the new number.
While I was still on the phone, I indicated once again that I had no postcard, or pin # and just wanted to make absolutely sure that I qualified for the 40% off as I didn't want any surprises at check-in. The CM said everything was fine -- that we were a "test family" that did indeed have a pin code associated with our name. I immediately paid the one night deposit (wasn't taking any chances!).
Don't know how or why, but do know that I'm another person that called CRO over a week ago and found out my profile was incorrect as it was marked that we did not want to receive email/correspondence from Disney. Perhaps getting that straightened out was all it took to start receiving pin codes (or possibly a mailing that I haven't received yet).
