Webmaster, how about creating a separate board for roll-call threads?

To the webmasters / moderators,

How about creating a new separate board for all these "roll-call" threads? They kind of clutter up the space while only a few people are interested in each possible thread. Well, just an idea to streamline this great site, what does everybody else think?

Save bandwidth, restrict signatures to ONE line of PLAIN text!

Blasphemy!

You all should be flamed for suggesting such a thing! Just wait 'till the trolls come out of the woodwork...

All kidding aside, I would love to see a separate board for this too.

I have started this same thread two other times to no avail...I really really wish this also, sometimes posts get lost way far away because of all the roll call pages....I really hope they listen this time:)

I 4th the proposal. It may be a space limitation matter on the server, though.

I agree, rollcall threads are usually pretty boring!

I am all for it--and hey! I am saving bandwidth and I didn't even know it!
Wahooo!

*Gulp* I feel bad. This post showed up only a few hours after I do my very first ever roll call thread. I'm sorry. I would have done it on a separate board if there was one....really....

Awww. Frieda, don't feel bad! *pixie dust* I am responsible for one of those roll call thingys myself! I do agree that there should be a separate board for it if possible, but until that happens, I think it's still a happy making thing to see your cruise's roll call on the board.

Have a wonderful cruise!

Maybe if this were moved to the Tech board it would get a reply from a webmaster who can develop this new board?

I actually like the roll call threads. A lot of people on those threads have cruised before and offer great advice and tips to others. It is also nice to see other people's excitement as they get ready for their cruise.

(no flames please)

I think if we start having seperate boards for roll calls, we might as well start narrowing other things down.....Castaway Cay board, Palo Tips/Questions board, etc....
To me, roll call threads, while there are many, are no different than when a question is asked over and over again.....

JMHO.::yes::

CRSNDSNY--

Oh sure, if you want to be all with the logic and all...hee hee!

Good idea!

The problem with a separate roll call thread is that many people might miss it them. Many people, especially new users, only visit one forum. If the roll calls were moved to a separate thread like the DIS meets were then you would have people posting links to the roll calls here which means then there are two posts about the same thing.

I like the roll call threads. i like to see people getting excited about upcoming cruises. If I see a friend in on one sometimes I'll pop in and wish them a bon voyage.

If it is about a sailing I don't care about then I just pass over it.

Too much segragation leads to more people missing things IMHO.

I agree with Kamgen I'd rather see roll call threads than the same question asked time and again (especially when it is being asked by the same person multiple times which has happened).

Thanks goodfaerie. I'm sure I will have a wonderful cruise. And thank you for the pixie dust!
