Webkinz

My DD9 has somewhere around 35 and DS7 has about 20. DD9 is a total Webkinz fanatic. She always asks for new ones, but doesn't usually get them. She will get them from Grandma or friends for birthdays, or sometimes as a special treat for a good report card. She subscribes to Plushie Pals magazine, and always follows the latest releases online. She plays more with the toys than the online, although she does go online frequently. My kids use the Webkinz for all their creative play. Their favorite thing to do is Webkinz school. The Webkinz go to class, do homework, go on field trips and have lunch. They really use their imagination with these more than any other toys they have. I don't know why. This is the one thing they can still play together without arguing.

My daughter has 87! She had 67 but then she won a big basket of 20 webkinz at a chinese auction we went to- still haven't taken the tags off and registered the last 20 of them!

DD6 has 4, a beagle, pink poodle, mini pig, and a Clydesdale. She'll be getting the raccoon for Christmas, and maybe a mini bulldog. I may keep the bulldog :) I go online and play the games, it's fun for both of us.

They are still a hot thing here where we live. The youngest DD12 is obsesed with them. She just purchased #81 today and was just as excited about it as #1. Her Grandma has gifted her quite a few but there are many weeks of chores tied up in them as well. They are all carefully arranged on a shelf and she can remember every single ones name!!!!:)

What is a Webkinz?

Webkinz are stuffed animals that are tied into a website. When you buy the stuffed animal, it comes with a code. You go on-line to the website & put in the code & your stuffed animal is now on-line. It can interact with other peoples stuffed animals & you can earn the sites virtual money by taking quizzes & such. The money can be used to buy food, furniture for your pets room, clothes, etc.

At first I resisted them but my DD doesn't spend that much time on the site so its all good.

I am not much of a collector myself and never really got into the Beanie Baby craze. My mom owned a toy store (that she sold less than a year ago) and she sold Webkinz there. Even with that, my kids each only have a few and I was the mean mom that wouldn't let them open more than one or two at a time.

I am also the mean mom who threw out her dd's polly pocket collection b/c it was getting on my nerves -- all those little pieces... and I have still not answered the call for heelies or a DS... of the four kids my son wanted a DS so badly that dh finally let him use his earned money to buy a used one from GameStop. He plays that thing whenever we let him and takes care of it so well - b/c he had to pay for it! He only has one game for it too but he will have to earn the money for more!

okay Webkinz is still pretty popular around here too...between both DD there is a total of 70 webkinz in the house. My friends daughter tops the list at 103 webkinz...oy!

I found some of these on sale at my walgreens yesterday for 1.50 a piece, so I bought 8 of them for my DD. I hope she likes them, like some of your children have. I really didnt understand it all, I just thought they were cute.

Wow!!! 1.50 ea!! Which did you get?! That was a great score!!

WOW!!! What a great deal! I'd be going back and stocking up for birthday parties at that price!:cool1: I hope your dd likes them.:cutie:

I didnt even know I was getting such a good deal, I may have to go back. They had tons of them!! I know I got a panda bear, a black bear, a grey kitty, and some dogs.

So fill me in on exactly what you can do online with these critters!! I am a newbie to these and need to know what I am gettting into before I give them to my DD!!

Oh.........the website is very well done. They can dress them, feed them, exercise them, buy items for them, decorate their rooms, take them to the vet.......on and on. They play educational (but fun) games to make webkinz cash so they can "buy" them food, clothes, toys etc. Every kid I know between 4 and 12 LOVES them. Sad to say when I have a couple of minutes every now and again I LOVE to play Tile Towers!!!;)

My daughter received 3 last year for her 4th bday. We went online and "adopted" them all. Did not realize that the account is only good for 1 year. So this year around her bday we had to go out and get another one to make her account active again. What I should have done last year is only registered one but then she would have had only one to play with online. Guess the manufactures know what they were doing by making and account good for one year. My daughter loves playing online with them so that is all that matters.princess:

yes, basically its the cost of a webkin as a yearly fee to play on the site. a lilkin only costs $10. so $10 a year to use the site, isnt too bad. its only .84 cents a month.

I'm not sure how many webkinz DD has but it's a lot. I make her get rid of the actual animals on a regular basis though. She justs wants them for playing online so it's not that big a deal to get rid of the stuffed animal.

I have 8 or 9 put back for b-days and christmas from that webkinz weekend thing a few months back. I also just got one for .69 last week when I got DD's BBB Tink outfit on Amazon. It was spend $50 and get free shipping and the costume was $39.95. So I got her the bat one that was on sale for $10.69. When I went to check out it also had a 2nd promo that was $10 off $50 so $40.64 for both!

Not bad at all when you look at it that way. My daughter this year for Christmas will be getting the Manatee from her grandmother. They now have underwater rooms that you can purchase with the money you win from playing in the arcade on the website. My daughter realized this so she asked for the Manatee so she could have that room.

I think my DD (almost 6) has around 20. She just started 'collecting' them last Christmas, but she's gotten a bunch as gifts since then, spent some of her own money to buy some, and gotten some as rewards for good behavior and filling her chore chart, etc.

DS 14 even has five or six though he doesn't play with them anymore (online, he never did play with the stuffed toys, LOL, just has them sitting on a shelf).

My niece, 11, has all of them except for the most recent releases and I'm sure she'll get those too.

I have ten of them myself, LOL. The only ones I have put online are the pegasus, the whimsy dragon, the panda, the polar bear and the black bear. I also have the unicorn, black cat, yellow lab, black lab and chocolate lab.
