Web Slingers is moving to a standby queue

Not sure how I feel about his since I haven't ridden yet. Anyone know how this affects the wait? I've heard how long the wait is with the virtual queue. We will be there on Monday.

Well... that's interesting. Headed there tomorrow...

We're planning on arriving before park open, but not early enough to be at the rope line. We were planning on trying for a VQ position... (and this is just rumor, so I'll still check at 7am)... and letting that dictate whether we went for TSMM/IC or GotG.

Instead, assuming this is true, it will be a split second decision upon arriving at the hub... based on what time it is and how big the various groups appear to be. Do I head for WS? Or go do TSMM/IC/Soarin/GotG while everyone and their brother stands in line for RSR & WS?

It is hard to say but it seems like in theory this ride could be a pretty fast loader. I have always thought the VQ was a little overkill for this particular attraction. Don't get me wrong, I actually love it, but it is not anywhere near RotR level. I would wait about 20 minutes for this ride on any given day, maybe a little more if I was going with someone who had never ridden it and wanted to. We will have to see how it goes I guess!

The wait will likely hover between 60 and 90 minutes most of the time.

It has a reported hourly capacity of 1000 riders, which is pretty low, actually. I think this is an overestimate, though, because each vehicle CAN accommodate 8, but most go with much less than that because they seat in groups up to 4 but don't fill all seats when there are empty spots.

I agree. This ride isn't worth even 30 minutes to us. I kind of feel like it will settle in around 45 minutes most of the time, similar to Toy Story. Its definitely not one we consider a "must do" on every visit.
Hmmmm I wonder why they don't. But you are right, when we rode as a party of five on Monday we had an entire ride vehicle to ourselves, that leaves out three potential riders. Maybe they will introduce a single rider line?

It kind of doesn't make sense to use single riders due to the "team" aspect of the ride and the closeness of the seats. I think smaller groups would feel awkward having someone else so close flailing their arms all around. I feel like there would be potential for accidentally hitting a stranger.

I'm betting they will start a Single Rider Line sooner or later. I rode a few weeks ago as a party of 1, and they put me in with another group of 3. I didn't find it awkward, personally. Just like on Smugglers Run, we all easily worked together without any issues. I did miss the interaction with other people, but I go as a single for at least half of my trips, so I'm good being on my own. Some groups are friendlier than others :)

I saw this on Laughing Place

What’s Happening:
  • Beginning Thursday, November 4, Disney will be testing a hybrid of stand-by and virtual queue access for WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure.
  • Stand-by access will be used mostly on quieter days, with the virtual queue being activated only on certain days and at certain times. The previous 7am and 12pm boarding group drops will be paused during this test.
  • Since this is a test, standby and virtual queue times may vary throughout the day. Certain days may utilize a hybrid of virtual and standby queues, depending on demand.
  • Guests who have a virtual queue boarding group may enter the attraction through the virtual queue return line during the designated virtual queue return window, even if the attraction has transitioned to a standby queue.
  • When the virtual queue is in use, all of the same rules as before apply.

First of all we haven’t taken the time to try and ride it and really have no interest. We have watched videos of the ride on YouTube and my only comment is “why”? Also, I think that the Genie is about to be released from the bottle.

ok so rise went from virtual queue at wdw to standy on october 6th, their Genie plus debuted October 19th
