Weather/Temps in February?

Hey all!

We're considering a Disney cruise vacation for sometime in the future, but we're really wavering (no pun intended...but get it? WAVE-ering? HA!) about when would be the right time for us weather wise.

If you've cruised in February or November, how warm was it? We're the type of people who want nice warm weather to enjoy the beaches and pools, and mid-70's really won't cut it. That's great for park weather, but we need solid 80's to really get our money's worth when water is involved.

Thanks in advance!!

We've cruised twice in February and this is our preferred month. The temps for us have been in the high 70s to mid 80s. We don't really like very hot weather, so this was perfect, especially after a long cold winter in New Jersey.

WE CRUISED THIS PAST FEB.-IT RAINED OUT ALL OF THE OUTDOOR PARTIES-WE MISSED CASTAWAT CAY DUE TO HIGH WINDS AND TO ME IT WAS JUST TOO COLD-IN THE 60 - LOW 70. WE CHOSE JULY FOR OUR NEXT DISNEY CRUISE. HAVE FUN. :cool1:

I honestly think it is a hit or a miss. We cruised last February, and it was cold, rainy, and windy. I think we just had bad luck though. When I checked the forecast for the following week, it looked perfect.

Coming from the great white north :teeth: I am now going to book nothing before March...I have read lots of reports like Allears, that February was great. It is just our experience was a little TOO cold, and TOO rainy.....

HTH :goodvibes

My philisophy on Feb (we sailed Feb 05) is it's just too risky! Especially the 3 and 4 night cruises that don't go as far south -- while we had great weather (24th-27th), I think the cruise right after us was a wash-out. In fact, the morning we sailed into port is was massive downpours, lightning, etc. felt sorry for those who were boarding that day .... :guilty:

-- now, before anyone gets crazy about "you can't help the weather" -- I know this isn't DCL's fault -- however, my philosophy is if I'm spending that much money on a vacation, I will go when the "probability" (based on history, natural weather cycles, etc.) is that we will have a higher chance of good weather. We are from the midwest and my kids love the sun, surf, pools, etc. -- especially after a cold, snowy winter -- it would be a nightmare for us if our weather wouldn't have been bad --

Long answer short -- I wouldn't risk February sailing again -- !!

"-- now, before anyone gets crazy about "you can't help the weather"

I hope no one will. The op just wants some information on past experiences, like everyone has thus far.

We've been lucky in February thus far, a little less in January. No matter what time of year you go there could be weather issues, but as someone said you should go when you feel your chances are best and when you feel the value is best.

we went on the 4 day presidents week this past february and had great weather ... nassau was in the mid 70's as was CC we arrived back into port to showers and from what people say the next 4 day had all Rain

Keep in Mind this years weather for Feb and most of the winter months was unusual. We are going on the Feb pres week 06' 7 day eastern next year and hope we have the same if not better weather. Just because it raining at the port does not mean you will have the same weather once you arrive at ports .. its a risk but even in the HOT summer months you can get a week of rain. Mother Nature is unpredictable just ask NCL.

We cruised the Wonder in November '03 and had wonderful weather for swimming. I snorkeled in Nassau, and CC was just right.

We didn't notice anything extraordinary, but the first night out the seas were too rough for some people. CM were even complaining about it in Nassau the next morning.

We sailed in Feb of this year ( Feb 7th Eastern Carribean) and the weather was good in St. Marteen and St. Thomas but we missed CC due to strong winds and seas. It was dissapointing but that is the way it goes. This was our second DC so we new what we where missing at CC.We still had a blast and the staff was great for having lots of activities on board for that additional sea day. I saw a guy recently in our city that sailed on the same voyage and he says he goes every Feb, during Mardi Gras, and the weather is usually great.

Your on a Disney vacation so it is going to be great no matter when you go. Lastly, I priced the rates again for next Feb and the rates are much more economical than towards the summer months.

I would go for it as you will have fun no matter what!

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!! : :teeth:

We have taken 2 eastern cruises, second this past Feb and first, January of 2003. Weather after Port Canaveral was wonderful, and continued to get warmer the further south the ship traveled. Port Canaveral was nice but chilly, needed sweatshirts. Seas were fine in 1/03 but very rocky in 02/05, we missed castaway cay due to rough seas, luckily none of us get motion sick, however there were alot of sick people on our Feb cruise.

Personally, I like to cruise in Jan/Feb, prices are cheaper and it is a great break from the cold & snow.

I think you will be fine, just don't expect to walk off the plane at MCO have it be really warm.

we went in Feb and it was a tad chilly and windy. the water on CC was cold for us floridians- we like ours warm down here. :sunny:

We've done 2 cruises so far - May '03 Western and Feb '05 Eastern. The weather in May was incredible and if one could bottle and sell it, they would make a fortune. I have to say, we live in Maryland and it snowed the day before we left for FL so any weather on the cruise was better than what we had at home. That being said, the sailaway party was windy and chilly (sweatshirts required!!!) but St. Martin and St. Thomas were perfect. We did miss out on Castaway Cay due to a rough undertow. On both trips, it rained for about 5 minutes each (so lucky!!!) and we had a blast. When we decided to book another cruise, we decided to do May again - the cost difference wasn't great enough for this risk of missing Castaway Cay again (and I do realize before anyone says anything that it is not a guarantee, even in May, but the chances are better - you have to agree!)
