We will be in Disney next week and our first full day will be MK on Sunday. Right now the weather is showing cooler and 90% chance of rain all day. Monday in HS doesn't look much better. Any shoe recommendations? Any other suggestions/secrets for a rainy day besides ponchos?

We use umbrellas instead of ponchos when it's a day long rain. The reason is you have to remove ponchos for rides, which is a huge PITA. It's possible to get more wet removing a poncho than it is just walking in the rain. We carry a plastic shopping bag and we just stick our umbrellas in it when we enter a ride queue.

For shoes I like a slip on sport sneaker. They hold up to wet well.

We rarely remove our ponchos for rides for all day rain. Everything and everyone are usually so wet that it doesn't matter. We probably would remove them for a show with fabric seats though or if we are inside significantly for the ride, like the pavilions in Future World at Epcot.

I like Keen sandals. If it's really cold (50s or below), they may not work. Keens dry well and are very slip resistant. I have some Ecco walking shoes that are all leather and are pretty water tight. They have a rubber sole that goes up a little higher on the shoe than most.

Last time we went when there was all day rain, this last August, the CM made everyone remove them. That is when we bought umbrellas

Haven't had to do that. That blows:(

I think with the 100% of all day rain we are just going to go with rain boots. Not ideal, but I think needed. We are also considering ditching the stroller for our 4 year old that day and letting her walk. We may need more breaks and not make it as late as we want but it seems like what will be best.

The Weather Channel is showing Sunday as the rain day.

Yes! Sunday is the main day I am worried about. The other days I think will have some come and go rain, but I think Sunday will have a lot and last all day. I am planning full rain gear for that day.

I have heard CM say make sure you take off your poncho before getting on the ride at a few attraction been hearing it for a long time at space and recently on other rides I have never been on a ride with a wet set that wan not a water ride or an out side ride

but I do use an umbrella unless it is raining really hard then I do a poncho and I always bring two pair of shows my tennis shows and an off brain of Keens type quick drying I put my tennis in my bag in gallon ziplock with a rain cover over the whole back back along with an extra pair of shocks I can not stand to have wet cloths at all so go out of my way to stay dry ( some one got me wet on BTMRR they were trying to get the person next to them went and got me I was not happy with the few drops that was on my shirt that lasted an all of 30 minutes

We love the rain!! Have gotten some ADRs that were previously full and short lines!

I'm packing extra shoes and umbrellas. Hoping for short lines!

A few weeks ago my boys were made to remove their ponchos to ride Star Tours. I had no idea that it would even be an issue. Not sure if it's a wet seat thing - I'm sure they probably sat on their ponchos making the seat wet anyway....so much for that!

I have a clear rain coat similar to the ones worn by the CMs, comes almost to the ground on me, but I'm short. Love it, I never get wet. If there is just going to be light showers, I take an umbrella but for the gully washers, the rain coat is my go to, it even has a drawstring hood. As far as shoes, I've never been when it's chilly so it's fisherman sandals for me. I would suggest taking a comfortable light weight tennis shoe made of mesh and throw a spare pair of socks in the bag if you carry one or your pocket if you don't. The shoes will dry quickly and changing socks mid day will help. Take at least 2 pairs of shoes, and I mean at least. When I used to take tennis shoes, I always took 3 pairs so the wet pair would have plenty of time to dry. I would let the kid walk, nothing worse than a soaked stroller for the little one. Mine was out of the stroller at 3. A child's poncho should be fine for the little one, they tend to drag the ground and they don't do a lot of moving the arms like adults do . If you use ponchos get a decent one that snaps and is sturdy, the cheap ones tend to rip and stick to you. Don't wear jeans, you will get wet and never dry out.

We have had some pretty big rain days through the years. We have cheap disposable ponchos for chance rain but take better rain coats for real all day rain. Kids did not like ponchos when they were little . We wear crocs in the rain. We also wear a baseball cap under our rain coats and that helps to direct the rain away from your face. If the rain is suppose to stop during the day, we will sometime take dry clothes and stash them in a locker. We almost always go winter so we are talking dealing with cooler temps. Do be careful to wear shoes that will not rub heels if they get wet and avoid jeans as they take forever to dry and can chaff. We have gone during your week before and crowds are very unpredictable. We found them much higher than expected. Being willing to brave the rain can be a great way to beat crowds. We did a major rainy morning at MK one cool January day. NOBODY was there. It was almost scary. We walked onto everything multiple times. About noon the rain stopped and we put on our locker stowed dry clothes and shoes and still very few people came. One of our very favorite memories at WDW!

We've been extremely lucky on our trips when it has come to rain. If it was an all day rain I might would opt for rain boots. But it's miserable to me for my feet to be wet.

Stupid question, what do you do with umbrellas on rides? Do they have places beforehand to put them? I'm sure most rides you could just take them, but some of the more thrill rides they probably aren't allowed, right?

We carry collapsible umbrellas so they go on the rides with us

:scratchin Only you know your capacity and that of your child, but I would be prepared to change your mind about three hours into the park experience. With any luck, they'll still have strollers available to rent at the front of the park.

We had a lot of rain in March last year. I thought that plastic sandals would be a good option for the kids to dry out quickly, but my kids did not like the feel of their feet being wet and getting dirty. I'd recommend something that will keep feet dry if possible.

Echoing others, we were able to walk on a lot of rides during times when there was drizzle (Dumbo, Tomorrowland Speedway, Barnstormer, etc).

We had ponchos and no one asked us to take them off, but it was actively drizzling and we were on outside rides during most of that.
