I wasn't exactly sure where to post this, but since the weather affects what we will be able to do at the parks I thought I'd try here.

We leave tomorrow and stay thru next thurs. The forecast looks awful! Now 4 of those days are either 80 or 90% rain

My question is in your opinion (especially those that visit Florida often...) if it's a high chance of thunderstorms...would u take it to mean a complete rainy day OR because it will be low 90s just some t storms to break the heat? I'm trying to be optimistic, but w that percentage it's kinda hard.

What's your thoughts? Are we doomed for a rainy sucky no fireworks week ???

Thanks!

I'm not from FL, but I've been on the DIS long enough to have learned from these threads: don't panic about the weather. Forecasts change a lot. Think about it - how accurate is your local weather forecast, and how often does the extended forecast change from day to day?

I'm not sure where you're looking at the forecast for next week, but is there something that will show you details? Not just a picture of a rain cloud and a percentage? Because a detailed forecast should at least say if they're expecting an 80% chance of a pop-up thunderstorm in the afternoon or an 80% chance of showers all day.

I'm just now to the point where I can look at a 10-day forecast and see my arrival day - and it's showing 80% chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon - I just hope my plane lands safely and relatively on time. I understand the concern about weather, but the forecast is pretty sure to change a few times before the day actually comes.

Yup can't control the weather so no sense in worrying about it and it is going to change anyway. Although another reason why FP+ sucks, can't really change your plans around the weather.

It likely will be bursts of rain showers, not all-day rain. Throw on a poncho and have fun.

Hi there! We leave Saturday, and have been worried all week looking at the forecast. We went last year and it rained all but the last day of our trip. And I don't mean afternoon rain, it rained all day and night. We walked around in ponchos and umbrellas. Not my idea of a vacation. I told my kids if this happens again this time, next year we will be going to Disneyland where it doesn't rain in the summer! We have a fast pass for the Mine Train at about 6pm, what happens when its raining and we can't ride-that's it then? Our option will be to go stand by? Yikes all this planning for 13 people mind you! And no, a rainy day at Dis is not better than working when you have saved all that money and made all those plans. Oh well that's my vent for this morning! I will just hope to see some sun out of our 5 days!:sunny:

It's rare for fireworks not to be shown. Looking at The Weather Channel, some of the days say Rain or Thunderstorms late. When they say 80% to 90% rain, that is the chance that it will rain sometime during the day. Not 80% to 90% of the day. The temps are really high for mid April.

We will certainly make the best of it! I told the kids we will swim in the rain as long as it's not thundering

I was just curious how other ppl look at a forecast like this. I do need to look at a more detailed one though.

I think I will be changing some fp+ if I can!

we are leaving in a little over a week and what concerns me more than the rain/storms is the temps! The average for this time of year is low 80s, but the 10 day forecast shows low 90s every single day! I am not prepared for that heat...

Our forecast changes constantly (which I think is true for most of the country lol). It could say 40% and rain all day or 90% and not rain at all where you are. We haven't hit our rainy season, so you won't have the normal afternoon showers yet. I will say, it rarely rains all day here. It does happen, but normally it tends to be pockets of rain.

We have been here since Saturday and have only experienced one little sprinkling, even though there has been a chance of rain every day. Typical Florida weather. It is hot and humid! Bring your summertime clothes. Its even hot at night! We talked to a nice young man in the MK yesterday who had brought nothing but pants with him. He was dying!

For this weekend, us "locals", at least on the coast, are presuming it to be an all day event. Doesn't mean it will be intense all day. But I am expecting rain most of Saturday afternoon and all day until evening on Sunday. We have had outdoor events cancelled already for my son's scout troop. I am hoping my girls' golf outing isn't cancelled, but so far--Saturday morning appears cloudy but dry where we are.

I was supposed to head over to EPCOT on Sunday but may have to drop those plans. (I won't melt, but I have a newborn. And while I can put up with a light rain. More than that just isn't smart.)

It won't be a washout necessarily, but I would expect some form of precip quite a bit this weekend. I believe we are getting those storms that are traveling from the Midwest. The storm seen here: http://www.weather.com/storms/tornado/news/severe-weather-tracker-page

Sorry to be the bad news person.

In case we can make it over, I already switched my TT Fastpast to Soarin'. And unless a miracle happens, we will be cancelling our dining reservation if the forecast holds so we can avoid the $10pp penalty.

But this isn't your typical "It's Florida, wait 5 minutes and the sun will be out" forecast. It's a -- a craptastic system is on its way--forecast. We can always hope that it stays more North.

So OP--be prepared with ponchos and umbrellas and extra shoes and it should mostly be fine. Wet, but fine. The question mark is thunderstorm activity.

ETA: both Sat and Sun forecast the afternoon to be widespread activity.

Are these temps just a fluke? Will they go back to around the average? If not, I cant imagine what July and August will be like.

I'm really worried about the rain too. We don't get there until the day the rain STARTS and we leave the day it ends. Weather forecasts are saying a whole storm system is coming in. Does anyone have thoughts or know more about whether that means one shower in the afternoon or rain all day every day?? My husband wants to cancel our park tickets and check out kennedy space center instead. :(

April weather is about the hardest to predict anywhere so I would simply make the best of it.

I did see PM thunderstorm forecasts on many days but when we have experienced them they were relatively short in duration.

They will be even hotter.

The temps are a "fluke" for now in that they are what is expected in May. Late summer would be mid to high 90s and high humidity daily.

It will be just as bad at KSC as we are getting the same storm. Given that outdoor walking is a must at some point, I don't think cancelling and doing that instead is necessarily better. Especially if you skip outdoor stuff as much as possible.

Forecast says widespread afternoon both Sat and Sun. So it sounds as though mornings would be optimum to be less wet.

Ok, let's be positive. What can we do to maximize fun? I know about ponchos, but im torn on crocs vs sneakers. Also, how do we keep the backpack dry? We will be traveling with a 2YO and a 5YO so we can toss the stroller but maybe a stroller cover would be better (although from firsthand rain experience, it's almost always better to leave it at the hotel). Any other tips? Extra dry sweatshirts for the super cold buses?

I just checked all the local weather forecasts with WKMG, WESH, and WFTV--at present, they are all in agreement that rain forecast for the weekend are 50% both days (mostly for the afternoon). This is in conflict with weather.com which has been flirting with 80-100% for the weekend depending on the moment you check.

So there is a little glimmer that it won't be as and as forecast. I think it will depend on where that system decides to spend its weekend. Hopefully further north.

I have seen folks wear the backpack under the poncho.

I would not wear sneakers as a personal choice. So of the two, crocs!

I bought a stroller cover on Amazon this week. But we have used ponchos as back up stroller covers. Parking seems to be our biggest challenge as it leaves the stroller exposed. Carrying a 2yo just isn't pleasant to me.

Not sure sweatshirts are worth it with the temps. I would think they would be too heavy.

I would be prepared to has fun and allow puddle jumping. :-)

I'm also worried, as my hubby HATES extreme heat. We leave in 2 weeks, I'm hoping things cool down a little.
