Accuweather is now forecasting the following for the week I am there -

Weather Forecast:
Mon. March 2nd - Sunny and cool - high of 63 - Low of 43
Tue. March 3rd - Mostly sunny and pleasant- high of 71 - Low of 44
Wed. March 4th - Plenty of Sunshine- high of 74 - low of 55
Thu. March 5th - A full day of sunshine - high of 83 - low of 60
Fri. March 6th - A full day of sunshine - high of 78 - low of 61
Sat. March 7th - Sunny - high of 79 - low of 56
Sun. March 8th - Partial Sunshine - high of 69 - low of 39

So I am assuming that day forecasts in the 70s will be shorts weather. My questions are on nights - what is the threshold for beign too low for shorts - I was thinking that low of 44 means pants at nights - but what about lows of 55/56? is that shorts or pants??

Hi,

For a Canadian--shorts.

For a Floridian--sweat pants over long underwear!

Seriously...it is a too early to tell what the overnight lows will be like a week and a half from now. At this time of year your best bet is to pack a little of everything!

My thoughts:
1. You won't be seeing the lows unless you are up at 4AM.
2. If you're coming from Canada, you will have at least one jacket/sweatshirt/long-sleeve shirt with you that you can put on if you start feeling chilly.
3. But it won't feel cold to you. You probably have a few days and nights like that in the summer at home. What do you wear then?

Good luck! If it were me, I'd just bring the shorts (along with whatever jacket I was going to have for going home) and figure the worst case scenario is I buy a sweatshirt at Disney.

LOL! So true! 50's here can still be shorts weather, especially if there's little to no wind. That's been the common temp lately when I've gone early for rope drops. Not wanting to have to change clothes mid-day, I just suffer the chill early on, and enjoy it as the day warms up. However, even for a Canadian, I'd say that below 50 is probably too cold for shorts. ;)

Also, those lows are usually early morning (3-4am) temps. By the time the parks open around 9am, and close around 9pm, it's much closer to the daily high temp than to the low temp. Lately, on the days where the lows have been around 40 and highs around 70, it was 55-60 by 9am.

we are packing shorts and capris and will bring sweatshirts with us...and maybe 2 pairs of pants just in case

thats interesting - I am concerned about temperatures until about 10pm as I assume we will be in parks until around 8pm and then take the bus back and go for a quick swim.

Layer, layer, layer, then peel off as you go! :-)

Those were about the temps of our trip two weeks ago, and I usually started out in shorts with a long-sleeved shirt, switched to a short sleeved shirt during the day, and had on jeans at night.

Not sure if this helps, but weather.com's hourly forecast is currently running up through Feb 28th. It might give you an idea of the typical curve of temps through the evening hours vs. the daily lows and highs. You could even see it in Celsius if you prefer.

And just be aware that Accuwather is often very wrong with forecasts beyond a day or so...
Wishing is right--any "lows" near those will be in the middle of the night.
And if they are right, it sounds pretty mild and mostly shorts type weather.
