Hello everyone, I'm going to Disney World for the first time with my boyfriend. He hasn't been in 10 years. He has never stayed onsite before either. We are booked for seven nights at CBR Jan 4-11 and he really wants to go swimming. 25 year old guy and all he cares about is if he's going to be able to swim! LOL How is the weather usually this week and do you think he will he enjoy CBR? Also, if anyone has any experience with the crowds this week, I would love to know about it.
Thanks everyone :cool1: :cool1: :earseek:

The pools are well heated, but the weather can go either way. We have taken several January trips...sometimes it hits 80 and we had a trip where 60 degree highs were pushing it a bit. Plan for everything!

Hi! I'm there January 3rd to 10th this year and have gone at the same time the last two years too. Both years I have been there have been GORGEOUS! 70's - 80's and yes, I went swimming both trips. I am also from Rochester, NY where snow is a daily fact of life, so 70's felt tropical to me! However, both times I was there it was unseasonably warm. Definitely pack the suit, and if he's determined to swim the pools are heated. Hopefully we get another gorgeous trip! One piece of advice, the water may be warm, but the walk back to your room isn't: Bring a sweatshirt to throw on afterwards!

Here's hoping the weather will be warm and spectacular that week! We are also going to be at WDW during this time. We have been many, many times in Jan. and have only had 2 experiences where the weather was down right cold. All the other times we were shorts living the good life! Whether the weather is warm or cold, the pools are heated and yes! we do plan to be in them!!!!!!!

We're hoping it warm enough to take a swim in early January, as well! DH is also determined to get in the pool. We have only been to Disney World twice in January - we usually go in May and October. One time it was chilly but not bad and the last time it was down right COLD! I remember wearing a sweater and a jacket. I think that was back in '01. Let's hope it'll be warmer than that this year! :)

Hope to see plenty of lime green when we are there!

our last Jan trip it varied from 90 to 40 daytime temps.( which felt much colder due to strong winds)during the 10 days we were there. most of our winter trips we have had a few swimable days but i would do it when/if the weather is good enough and not put it off cause it might change the next day and be to cold

Seeing as how you're from Rhode Island, you'll probably be able to swim. We saw plenty of folks in the AKL pool last January(none of them were from Georgia,I'm willing to bet). Bring shorts, suits, sweatshirts, jeans and a coat. Stuff a hat & gloves in the pockets. anything goes in january

We normally go towards the end of January and have always found the weather warm enough to swim. One day we had Blizzard Beach almost to ourselves!

I suppose being from England, any Florida weather is going to be warm for us!

56 days to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Claire & Neil princess: :wizard:

We'll be there from 1/2-1/7. We'll be packing the bathing suits, but we'll have to wait and see how mother nature decides to treat us... :goodvibes

We're going in January, too, and I'll be swimming. :cool1:

At CBR you might luck out with a pool near your room and you might not. Bring a thick sweatshirt or towel, because it can get really cold on the way back! The sidewalks might be littered with stuff (especially after a rain), so shoes or flip-flops are a good idea, too!

Here's to swimming in January!!!! :sunny:

We we there the begining of January. Was cold until the last day, then it hit high 60's- low 70's :sunny:
We did go swimming but it was weird to be in a swimsuit when the natives/ are in their winter coats. :cold:

Now for this trip I hope :umbrella: forecast is wrong.

We are going in January, too - and hoping for good weather! Usually we go the first week in December - it's usually so empty!
Hello to fellow Rhode Islander! Have a great trip 1/4!! :moped:

We're from the Midwest and we were there January 2004. In the morning we would start out in sweats and by afternoon we were in shorts. However, a few nights it dipped down into the 40's and it was COLD :cold: Of COURSE DS wanted to swim. I braved 43 degree weather to go out to the pool and get in. We were at ASMo. The water was WONDERFUL, but anything sticking OUT of the water was FROZEN (or at least freezing!!! ;) ). The worst part was getting out of that nice warm water into that FRIGID air!!! We're SO lucky we didn't get sick. Hopefully the weather will be wonderful for you in January!! :Pinkbounc :wizard:

I'm a Floridian.
Our weather can greatly change in one day.
Its a gamble that time of year. Theres a good chance it will be warm enough for you to go swimming. More than likely even if its a little cool the sun will be out.
Theres no way your going to catch a Floridian swimming in January but it doesn't seem to bother most people from the north.

The water is warm but it is very chilly sometimes getting in an out again. Your friend might want to pack a terry cloth robe for a cover up when he gets out of the pool.

Thanks for all your input. Sorry it took me so long to reply, with school, and working full time, I don't have alot of time to check email. Seems like this time of year has its ups and downs! I'm so excited, its less than a month away now. My boyfriend was very excited to hear that he can swim during the trip. Thanks again everyone and Dward1961, yes we are leaving out of TF Green. Can't wait!!!
