Weather in Orlando in March

I have only been to Orlando in March once. I will be going back in a month or so, March 7 to 14. I have been told by co-workers that once the sun goes down it gets COLD and to forget swimming in the evening. Has anyone else had this experince? I remember the evenings being quite warm, certainly not cold enough to warrent a sweater. I'm thinking some people are envious about my trip and are finding fault where it is not due.

The weather in March is very nice . We were there last march break and the days were hot and the nights we warm . I did wear a sweater at night but I am always cold and we did go swimming at the resort everynight ( getting out was chilly for me) . I agree there jelous of your trip coming up, have fun and enjoy the weather its going to be cold here.

The weather in March has always been nice whenever we went to Disney. The kids love TL & BB and it was never too cold for us to swim. Bring a sweater just in case it does get cold at night. Have a great time and don't worry about what others tell you, you can trust you DIS friends!

Hi ~ We went March 2006 and March 2007. The weather is perfect during the day. But we did wear light jackets/sweaters early mornings and evenings. It was about 70F at those times. The main pool at FQ was always a little cool. But CBR main pool was AWESOME and warm! The CBR quiet pools were cool. TL was chilly but we still enjoyed the day. My favourite month to do Florida is April, but March is pretty nice too! Sandra

I found the mornings and evenings cool on some days but throughout the day was shorts weather, we had a heated pool so swimming is fine. Anything is better than snow!!!

Last March was amazing - no rain at all!! It was 80's many of the days - we loved it.

Evenings will be cool. I would even consider throwing in a few gloves and hats if you are going to any evening fireworks or shows. We have been there in March where it went to 10 degrees in the eveing! But last year was warm so we are hoping for the same......

We will also be in WDW (poly) late Feb-early Mar and I too wondered about the weather. After checking Accuweather and other weather websites as well as lots of other disney related websites I got the impression that it would be quite chilly. After some thinking, though, I concluded that weather is such a subjective thing, ie +15 means different things to different people in different regions of the country. I lived in Toronto for many years and have never had chillier winters, even though the mercury never really dipped that low. I now live in the Prairies where it is routinely -30 and I'm not really all that cold at all. I can only assume that the Florida humidity contributes to the chill in March? Now I'm rambling...What I really wanted to ask was during the day did you wear shorts/capris/long pants/short sleeves? Thanks so much for the tip about gloves and hats. Do the famous downpours occur in Feb-Mar?

I was in WDW last year around this time and it was hot during the day, shorts and a shirt. At night it cooled down a little but not more than pants and a light sweater for my girlfriend(I still had shorts on).
It was great last year in March and I am banking on the same weather for my trip in 38 days!

Clothing wise, I have always worn capri's and skorts as I don't feel comfortable in shorts. I usually wear t-shirts and have never brought a sweater along with me. I will bring a sweater with me this trip as I have only been to WDW once during March, other trips have been in June, July and August.

We go every March break and it's been pretty consistent. Last year we wore shorts and t-shirts during the day. In the evening, we would sit by the pool and watch the movie but I did wear a sweater. The kids enjoyed the pool every evening and never put a sweater on! No rain last year but a little the year before. Nothing major and only for less than 30 minutes. Better than March in Ottawa.

We have been to the Orlando area during March break 3 times over the past 5 years.

Over all the weather was super, warm during the day making trips to Bizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon a blast.

Some evens a sweater was needed but not every night.

Most days the temps reached the mid 80's so when a mid 70 degree day rolled aroun it did seem cool. (sorry, I'm old school and do not know the metric conversions)

Best bet would be to pack your summer clothes and bring along a sweater or two for the cooler nights.

We too are escaping Ottawa during March Break and heading to Florida. Let's see - if there is no snow or ice, and I do not have to scrape frost in the morning, it is WARM. As long as the pool does not have ice on it, my family wil be in it... Of course if it does have ice, there will be enough Canadians down there we can organize a March Break Polar Bear swim and go in anyway.

speaking of sunshine and sunhats.... I remember reading something about a way of preventing your scalp from getting sunburned when not wearing a hat. I can't find a hat large enough for my head (keep the giggles to yourselves, I am NOT a fat head!) that doesn't blow off, or add to the heat. Anyone have this tip? I think it might have been a special shampoo/conditioner or maybe spraying sunscreen on the hair. Any ideas?

I have been going to Fla for quite a number of years and find the March weather in Orlando to be quite iffy. It can be lovely and warm but there can be days when you would be happy to have a good sweatshirt and slacks on.
The evenings can get very cool. I remember one evening in April when we went to the car and dug out our winter jackets to wear around Downtown Disney. I have also been very comfortable in shorts in late February, so I guess the best idea is to be prepared for either cool or warm weather.

Wow....quite a few different responses.
I have to say mitts....seems pretty out there to me. We just came back and there wasn't a night we needed mitts in January! I mean there are unusal circumstances I'm sure but seriously people were swimming daily and shorts were normal so I am assuming when we go back in March it is going to be warm enough for shorts daily. I am going to pack a zip-hoody or very light jacket but only 1 and don't plan on using them much over 10days.
If you plan on buying a sweatshirt then I wouldn't even take one....just buy it early and you'll have it for the night swims when you get out or whatever.
Before you go check out the accuweather.com 15 day forcast....it's usually pretty accurate. They were right on for our trip last week.

Seriously we are canadian....it will feel hot.

I was there last March and found it really nice. I definitely wanted a light coat or sweater in the evenings, especially when the wind came up. But we did go swimming most nights (even as late as midnight ish).

I like Neutrogena's Triple Moisture Silk Touch Leave-In Cream with UV shield. My gf who cuts my hair says to use it before swimming to protect highlights from the chlorine.

Hat wise, I have a pink baseball cap I like.

Mollyseven, you obviously weren't there 2 years ago in February when people WERE scrpaing frost off of their cars and there was frost on the ground. And I can tell you that sitting at Fantasmic for the evening show was basically like taking in New Years Fireworks outside in Niagara Falls (given we didn't have the right clothing).

The fact is, yes, it will MOST LIKELY be nice during the day and "cooler" in the evening - but absolutely swimming weather in a heated pool. But let's face it, don't do your final packing until 3 or 4 days before you go. Log onto the weather network and see what you are in for.

For the record, I just checked and Kissimmee right now is 11 degrees (but feels like 9 with the wind chill) but will make it to 17 today with a chance of rain. Still, a far sight better that the -10 we're in!!
