weather in Orlando in January?

We have never been to Orlando in January. Please tell me what the weather is like. Will we be able to go swimming? I was hoping for a break from the cold winters up north. Thanks.

In a word .. changeable

We have been every other Jan. for years and it is not predictible at all. This past Jan., there were record lows. We almost froze during Illuminations! The wind coming off the lake was COLD.

One year we wore shorts and tees all day. It is always cool at night, though. You will need a light jacket for that even if the weather is warm.

On our last trip, my kids were the only ones in Storm along Bay. Even the lifeguards told them they were nuts!

Last Jan. we went from the 1st till the 10th and had a mixed bag. Wore everything in the suitcase from shorts to coats. My SIL went the following week and froze. She drank so much hot chocolate that she thought she would turn into a marshmellow.

Total coin toss. Pack for anything and everything except SNOW.
Last year I wore shorts most of the time(late Jan), the year before I roasted even in shorts. One year we froze out little hinnies off. And, don't trust the online weather reports, they are never correct.

I know exactly what your sister was going through. We went down for the marathon and didn't pack appropriately at all. What I was able to do was layer my clothing. After looking like a big puff, I was finally comfortable with the weather. We are going this January and I hope it's a little warmer but this time I will be prepared. I'd just say pack a little of everything.
