Our family is getting ready to go to WDW in Feb/March for the first time. What kind of weather should we expect? I know it's probably a mixed bag, but should I pack mostly pants or mostly shorts? Do we need any of our fans and cooling towels (we usually go in September)?

We're going the same time and packing really has me thrown for a loop! I'm thinking our little girls will wear leggings and tshirts and bring a hoodie. Me and DH will probably wear shorts. I hate for my legs to be hot. I'll wear shorts if it's 60.

We're coming from Wisconsin so I really really don't want to wear hats and gloves on my vacation. I'm hoping for a hot spell!

It's variable. I've gone the beginning of March and once it was in the low 80s and another time it was 50s and 60s. If the sun is out, days are not bad in the 60s but after dark it will get cold.

We were there for the first 12 days of March last year, and we had highs that ranged from damp and chilly low 60's to sunny and very warm upper 80's. You need to pack for cool and warm weather in March.

Well, we're here now, Tues. - Thursday in the low 80's - absolutely perfect - people enjoying the pools. Thursday night a front moved in with winds gusting to 25mph and let me tell you it's cold!! Today is a 'little' better, light winds, and a light rain right now.

Blizzard Beach is closed through the 10th, Spirit of Aloha cancelled last night and tonight (more may be coming) because of low temps.

End of month into Mar. can be warmer, 'or' can be much of the same!!
Bring clothes for all types of weather - 'no' way to tell from year to year - or from week to week.

I'm from the deep south and every year can be different. Had on three layers yest. and was still cold!! The wind is brutal.

You wont need a cooling fan, but you make need a light jacket or a wind breaker.

You might actually. We went in late March and took Frog Togs for the kids. We needed the ponchos more than the FTs but the day I looked at the forecast and it was mostly rain and I decided to reduce clutter in the backpack and take them out? Yeah, that was the day the sun melted the clouds and we actually needed them. FL weather is nothing if not unpredictable.

It is so hard to pack for this time of year. We always end up with two full suitcases each plus another for toiletries. I just feel better having whatever we might need. Invariably, we go home with half the stuff unworn but there have been times when we've had to buy sweatshirts or more short sleeve tees if the weather ended up being all cold or all hot.

Yes.

My "usual" week spans late Feb/early Mar. There are a couple days that are "parent warm" (as in, the adults will swim), a couple days that are "kid warm" (kids will swim, parents won't) and a couple that are "Yeah, no thanks" when it comes to the pool. So, bring a bit of everything. Unfortunately you won't know exactly how it will break down even the day before you leave, because the forecast can change quickly, so either (a) bring a few extra things or (b) plan to do laundry.

Unless you are quite sensitive, you are unlikely to need cooling fans.

We've been the last week of February, and also the second week of March. Both times the weather was pleasant, though somewhat cool (we had a rainier, chillier week in March). As others have suggested, plan to bring short and long pants, and jackets. Definitely jackets, for the early mornings and evenings.

It's cool and rainy today, but the other day it reached the 80's. You just never know. Layers are usually a good idea.

Thank you all! We're not particularly sensitive to the heat, but do have a 1 year old who got a little overheated on our last trip, so I was thinking of her. I'll watch the forecast as we get closer and pack a little of everything.

Yep, just pack everything. At the beginning of this past week we were melting (82 degrees was the high and we were just not used to that kind of temperature in February!) and at the end we were bundled up and shivering (ahh, feels like home, haha).

As most have already mentioned - dress in layers and bring a little of everything. I've lived in Tampa for 15 years and it can be warm and humid one day (near 80 yesterday) and very cool and wet the next (only low 50's today). Also you know your family habits - my husband will wear shorts when it's 60 and I'll be in pants - remember to take into account what you will be comfortable in. By March there will be a better chance of warm over cold. However it should not be as hot as September. FYI Pools are heated. Bring $1 ponchos for rainy days.
One extra piece of advice - Feb and March are very busy. More than Sept. Hope you enjoy your trip no matter what the weather or crowds.

Thanks! I know the crowds will be bigger (though that particular week is predicted to be the last low-ish week before spring break season). We just really need a vacation and I'm actually looking forward to the cooler weather---as long as it's not in the 30s like it is at home right now. Hey, any day in WDW is better than a normal day at home!
