We have taken two trips to DL in December/January (between Christmas and New Year's) over the past 3 years. In both cases, the weather could vary quite a bit from day to day. Each trip featured at least one day of cold (by SoCal standards - 55 degrees), persistent rain. You do want long sleeves on days like that and certainly ponchos or umbrellas. There were also some 75 degree sunny days. I really enjoyed the climate for both trips, but there were people in my party who said they would not want to return during the rainy periods.

If you can plan your trip to allow you at least one day of bad weather (4 days or more), then you should be fine. One nice thing about the rain is that the crowds sure die down fast. One day it rained hard for 2 hours from like 10 am to noon. Many people left the park which gave us a lot of open space for about 3 hours until the crowds returned.

Being from the area, pretty much everything you listed, you just might want at some time or other. I've seen very warm December days followed by very cold December days, and you never know exactly what you're going to get until right around that day. Evenings are pretty cool no matter what. Sorry, wish I could be more helpful, but the winter months are when I actually pay attention to the weather report on the news.

Hope for the best but plan for the worse.

Last December when we were there it was so cold.
Jen

Wait until the week before to check the weather and you should be ok. I've lived here all my life and you never know what the weather is going to do that time of year.

My husband and I went there last Dec and it was very plesent I thought! Mind you I am from Washington and 60 degrees is warm to me and 80 is almost to hot. The first day we were there it was in the high 70's and pretty much stayed that way the whole time during the day but at night it got down to about 55-60 degrees. I mostly wore jeans and a light long or short sleave shirt. A couple of days we went onto splash and got completly soaked and were dry within two hours during the day time. It sprinkled there one night and it actually was nice because my husband and I figured let's go and get wet on splash mt since it's already raining and the park was very much empty. no waiting at all! So if I were you I would just pack jeans, maybe 2 sweatshirts for the night time breeze, shorts and t-shirts for the day time. hope this helps and have fun packing !

We go to Disneyland every year in December and my entire family lives in the area. It's usually in the low to mid 70's and sunny. It's the best time of year to go because the weather is perfect and the holiday decorations are awesome!!!!!!

uh were you not in california last year??? it was NOT sunny and in the 70's at all...it was in the low 50's and so windy that the trash cans were being flung open and twice, 2 of the BIG balls on the christmas tree on main street fell down on the ground and broke....and that happened in the afternoon before the sun even started going down...OP there is really no way to tell you what the weather is usually like ....you're coming to cali and we have the most random weather in the world i think:rotfl: I live in cali and whenever I travel I wait till a couple days before I leave to start my weather checking and packing because it can be so random...however, I would plan on packing short sleeves and long, long pants and capris or whatever...lightweight jacket and warmer jacket (depending on where you come from) if you're from the east coast then it probably wont bother you as much as it doesn us westerners who live in extreme heat all summer long...anything under 65º is getting too cool for us:rotfl:

Weather in California is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get..........(sorry....) Layers. bring short and long sleeves. I would avoid shorts. Even if it is warm in the afternoons, as soon as the sun goes down it will get colder. Bring a liter jacket and a warmer one. Bring a hat, and good moisterizer. If it gets windy you face can chap. That's yucky. If it's brite and clear chances are it's cold and windy. Overcast is warmer. Or it could be perfect who knows.

I know a pain.
