**Wearing PJ's in the theme parks**

We could consider wearing (what we now refer to as) pajamas in public as starting a fashion fad.

I think it was not until the 1970's that sleeveless undershirts aka tank tops in colors became fashionable for everyday wear. Before that, the white kind were not worn in public that often except they were on heavy labor jobs including outdoors.

Hospital scrub suits (both shirt and pants) were seen on the streets for a short time.

They even manufactured jeans with random holes in them, prewashed so the holes would appear as if they were caused by wear as opposed to being cut out.

Somehow I still believe in getting changed in the morning, even if it is just putting on a different pair of shorts.

One person I worked with some years ago describes how he was hired:
(over the phone)
(supervisor) "Can you interview today?"
(he) "Yes, a little later this afternoon so I can go home and get prepared."
(supervisor) "You can come as you are, no problem."
(he) "Okay I could do that."
He was wearing a tee shirt and jeans with holes at the knees.

I cant see why this would bother anyone. Styles change all the time. When I was young I used to wear jeans that were ripped from one end to the other! I know the adults hated it, bummy look, etc. I think some PJ's are cuter than other things that kids wear today. And like the above post said, they are comfortable, fun designs, soft. Just like sweat pants only cuter! I dont care what other people wear so long as they are not half naked...other than that, to each his own I say, and I'm over 40 :scared1:

This thread got rediculously long and hot. Why people even care about what others wear is a mystery for me. I only care when someone "forgets" there is a shower in their hotel room and smells in line and bus, this directly affects me but PJs, I have a lot to see in WDW to even notice them.

She IS smart! Love that network.

On a different note...something my parents always taught us...be careful to brag too much about your kids, you never know what they are doing behind your back that everyone else does know...

Oh, trust me, I know that.. I do have 2 others beside her. She is the model child, the others are your typical children. They will slack off the minute they get the chance. This one has no time, literally, to do anything wrong. She is also the only one of my 3 that did not qualify for a scholarship due to sowing her oats in high school ;) She grew up, is what she did.

To AMickeyfan-

Your daughter sounds wonderful and cute and smart. Please do not take this personally. As the thread states the discussion is about wearing PJ's at the theme parks. If your daughter wants to wear them in college so be it. Further, when I mentioned 2 people were taking it personally you weren't one of the two.:) Sorry you took offense.

Have a Magical Day.

It doesnt offend me if they are wearing PJS or those PJ bottoms, its the fact that alot of the people I see in those pants, the pants are filthy, dragging on the ground, caked in dirt, along with dirt and such smeared on the bottoms. Sorry, that gives a dirty impression.
Same if a person is in regular clothing and their shirt is filty, dirt, sweat marks, ground in?
It's not the fact of WHAT they are wearing, but come on, have some pride and clean up, I don't care if you are on vacation, it's gross.
PJs can be cute and if you can handle the heat of them in FL weather, more power to you, but don't look like you rolled around in the dirt piles or mulch outside the hotel or on the bathroom floor before you came to the park! :goodvibes

Hey girl!

We're either leaving the 14 or 15th! Darn it I can't believe I'm going to miss you. Can you come down earlier?? I think we are going to drive down at this point. Where are you staying??

M

I wouldn't wear them out anywhere, but I don't care if others do. And I would much rather see people in pajama pants then other things some choose to wear.

i'm going to admit it!!
i have worn PJ pants out and about!. ( not at WDW)
I have not done it in a long time, and the last time i had just had a c-section and everything else was to tight..

But back in those teen years it was all the rage to wear pj pants to school.. did it everyday for a year!

Would never do it now tho.. unless... J/k

I do have a question tho..
My DD wanted a woody costume
but due to skin a problem, the costumes make her break out..
I was excited to find PJ's that look like woody and buzz and the disney store..
I was going to let her wear these to the park... ( see pic below)
ok or trashy??

I'm with Stacey and Clinton...PJ's stay in the house....

I think its lazy and I love comfort as well. At home if Im not going anywhere I will keep my pjs on all day but I AM AT HOME! YOu could at least put on some sweats they are comfy too. I agree with the posters who say there are alot more offensive things people could wear.

THE BUS STOP!!!
This drives me crazy. Mom's hanging out in the corner w/a robe curlers and fluffy slipers. OK if the bus stop is in front of her house but her hosue is around the block. Wear the curlers if you want to even the slippers but not the robe!!

I think as long as what you are wearing is clean and tidy - it shouldn't matter.

Remember: "People who wear Crocs and fanny packs shouldn't throw stones":rotfl:

I have never seen this at WDW, but it just shows that our society is getting lazier and sloppier by the day.

How is wearing pj's in the parks any different than any other fashion trend that people want to wear? I personally wouldn't wear typical pj pants out, but some pj pants also look like sweats. Who cares what other people wear at Disney? Its disney not a wedding! Plus this is not a new trend.

I think wearing crocs look ridiculous, you'd never catch me wearing a fanny pack, socks with sandals, no make-up on, etc...but people in disney do all those things and more. It's my opinion about these things as is if people choose to wear pj's outside or not. Again, who cares?! Is it ruining your fun, if you say yes, than I feel really sorry for you.

That's funny I didn't read all the posts and just read this page and you wrote about same thing basically, :rotfl:

So, you are saying that people who choose to wear sweatpants/pj pants outside of their home are lazy and sloppy?
