This is probably a silly question, but....has anyone had any trouble wearing glasses on Space Mountain? I am blind as a bat without them so I really dont want to take them off but am worried about losing them. I read somewhere that they have even found false teeth at the bottom ?!

My BIL lost his glasses on Space Mountain during Spring Break. The CM told him to come back after they closed, since they check the floor for objects that have fallen. He waited until well after midnight, but they didn't find his glasses. He spent the next day getting an eye exam and picking out new glasses!

I have worn my glasses on SM. I have even worn them on rides alot worst them that. I forgot and left them on for Kingda Ka once (look it it up if you do not know what it is. You will see why it should have been a problem.) But really with SM there is not too much to see anyway it is pretty dark.

I don't think my fiance had a problem wearing his. But I will ask him what he does when he gets home in a couple of hours. and I'll let you know what he said.

Maybe you could try one of those straps that keeps your glasses on? It's kind of like a strap for goggles that goes around the back of your head.

I wore my glasses on every ride at Disney and had no problem. The ride I was most concerned was RNC and they didn't even move the least bit.

I have gone on SM many, many times and have never had any problems with my glasses.

I never thought about that...if its dark then I won't mind to take them off, LOL.

I've ridden Space dozens of times with my glasses without straps with no problems. Simply:
1) Don't turn your head (looking to the side may cause the "wind" to blow your glasses off).
2) Keep your hands down (swaying arms can knock glasses off).

As long as your glasses fit your face reasonably well and aren't "Coke bottle" heavy, they shouldn't be a problem.

Space is a "steel coaster" and as such it is pretty smooth in terms of the "jolts" your body receives as the car moves up and down and side to side.

My Dad has glasses and wears them on all the rides he goes on. He has this thing that is like (i dont really know how to describe it but I'm gonna try) a piece of string that attaches too the glasses and he can pull tight to his head. I hope that made sense.

My mom rode it with glasses and no strap and had no problem. But as earlier posters said, it's dark anyway so there's not really a lot to see...

I wear a strap on the back. I got one with Mickeys on both sides in MouseGears. It's probably not needed but it makes me feel more secure.

You know what I find scary-I can't remember what I did with my glasses! I think I must have worn them, but I really can't say for sure-OMG I'm 40!:sad2:

Wore mine for SM and every other ride, with the exception of waterslides / Crush n Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon. I held them in my hand then. Oh, I didn't go on Tower of Terror - that might be an issue. But everywhere else I was fine with leaving them on.

I checked with my fiance like i said i would and he said that he is as blind as a bat with out his glasses, so he wears them on everything. He doesn't use a strap or anything either.

:scared1: People loose their false teeth on the ride??

Now that is scarry.

Space Mountain only goes 30MPH.

I too am always afraid of losing my glasses on rides. I normally travel w/ a sport strap and that alleviates the problem. I don't even worry about my glasses then. I'm like you, completely blind w/o the glasses on. The first and only time I rode SM, i stashed my glasses for fear they would fly off. Couldn't see a thing, hated the ride, almost threw up my breakfast. That did it for me. So if you want to ride SM, do wear your glasses and ride it without an omelet in your stomach.

lol, my dad lost his (Rx) sunglasses on Space Mountain in 1999.... I had forgotten about it until now.

I've always worn my glasses on rides. I usually hit either Cedar Point or Kings Island since I live in the middle of the 2 :). I've never had any issues on any of those rides and I can pretty much promise the rides there are a little more intense in most cases then WDW is.

The only place I've lost my glasses was the Atlantic Ocean when I wasnt paying attention and got blasted by a wave and lost them. You know, one of those rogue wave things. You have a nice rythym going then all the sudden BAM some wave that was much larger then the others whacks you :D
