Wearing glasses on rides

I use a sport strap on anything where I worry about it. My friend has alwyas worn and never lost his, but I just don't trust the coasters. When in doubt, I put the strap on, goofy as it looks.

I bought a strap for mine when we went to Cedar Point last year. I dont think he will need one for anything but RnR, as it goes upside down. even then if they fit snugly I wouldnt be all that concerned as I've ridden it 100 times without a strap.
However, just to be on the safe side, you can get a really good sport strap at Sports authority or somewhere like that for around 8-10 bucks.Cheap peace of mind

Always take my glasses/hats off on the coasters (Disney and non-Disney). If he does decide to take his glasses off, make sure he has a secure place to put them (or wearing an old pair) because the lenses can get scuffed from jostling in your pocket/bag/etc. Also, he should be very careful about putting them back on. Last year exiting Space at MK I reached into my bag for my hat and forgot about my glasses--they ended up falling to the floor and getting stepped on. Walking out of MK after dark with no glasses is as not fun as it sounds(!)

Well, he IS fine, depending on what he's doing with them. If they're on his head, certain rides might make them fall off (On Imagination, my mom had her sunglasses on her head and during the final part, the glasses flew into the front seat of the vehicle). If not, they might just get a teensie bit wet or dirty. Take it from me, I have to wear them all the time.

I wish I had 20/20...

I wear prescription sunglasses and never take them off. Straps are key to not losing them.

the strap bothers me when not riding on rides. so while walking in the park I take one side loose and just let dangle from the other side. reallhy helpsin the heat

I have worn my glasses on pretty much every ride without issue. But, if you are concerned about him losing them, I suggest getting a backup pair to take with you. There are some great cheap glasses sites out there - I have used 39dollarglasses dot com several times.

The only ride I take mine off for is Rock n' Roller coaster. This will be the first time that DD10 goes with glasses though and I was just planning on having her not wear them in the parks, but we just bought her prescription sport goggles (for softball and basketball) with a strap, and DH said they would probably be good for the parks.....I would still have her take them off for RnR though....

I don't wear glasses onto roller coasters or most thrill rides - way too worried about losing them. The only time I wore glasses on a roller coaster in recent memory was on Space Mountain in HK Disneyland, and was so worried that they might fall off that I didn't manage to fully enjoy the ride.

Think it might depend on how bad his prescription is - mine is pretty bad, and I have distinct memories of being on the Hulk at IOA and Rock n Roller Coaster at MGM without my glasses and not being able to see anything - still enjoyed the rides but it would probably have been more fun being able to see things!

(These days I wear contact lenses but I appreciate that this is not a likely option for your 6 year old!)

I take them off for Splash and Space Mountain. However I won't do ToT, EE, or RNRC, so I can't comment on that. My glasses are admittedly a little loose fitting (I fall asleep with them on) so there is a slight possibility of them falling off while riding. Rather have my glasses stowed away than not have them at all.

I worry about my glasses falling off (cannot see a thing without them) so I take them off for all the bigger rides - Space, Splash, Big Thunder etc....

I'm sure they wouldn't fall off but I spend the whole ride worrying if I leave them on and don't enjoy it....

My DM wear glasses and the only ride she took them off was BTMRR. She didn't rode SM. RnRC or TOT though.

I would highly recommend a strap. Short of that, with a 6 year old, I would take them off if he was riding Space Mountain or Rock N Rollercoaster. Other than that, he shoould be okay.

I've done lots of big coasters over this side of the pond, and never needed to remove them. If you're worried, one of those strap things might help though.

If you're spending a day at the pool/water park, I'd highly recommend prescription goggles. They've made such a difference for how much I can enjoy being in the water, and mean I don't worry about getting splashed and not being able to see anymore.

They are quite expensive at the opticians over here, but I got mine online for a great price, and they are perfect, so shop around if you want some!

No one in my family ever had to deal with this until now. My 6yr old boy just started wearing glasses this past year...is he okay wearing them on all the rides? Would you recommend getting a strap thing or taking them off on any rides? He wants to get on everything

I take my glasses off for RnR, any of the mountains and Everest. I don't really think they'll fall off (although my husband's came very close to falling off on Space Mountain), but I don't even feel like risking it on vacation. I just keep them in my bag, rather than having to worry about them around my neck.

My husband, son, and daughter wear their glasses on all the rides. No issues. On any of the rides. Make sure that the glasses you wear have been fitted properly.

My daughter wears her 'old' glasses with a strap around her head when we are at waterparks. She has been asked to take them off and hold them on one or two slides, but wears them on most. Helps her see where the exit is when she gets to the bottom!

If not wearing glasses, my family would not be able to see the rides. Not as much fun. Not wearing glasses on rides also seems to make my son feel more dizzy.

I have glasses and I've worn them on all the roller coasters I've been on, including the bigger ones like Manta and Kraken at SeaWorld Orlando, or Busch Gardens Williamsburg ones, or Rock'n'Roller Coaster. I have NEVER felt like they'll fall off. I don't have a strap. :)

When we go to a waterpark, I either leave them in the car or a locker in the park. They just get in the way on water slides.

I have been wearing glasses for over 35 years. My eyes are very bad and I can't see anything without them. I take them off for RnRC only and use a strap for Space Mountain and Expedition Everest. They are fine on everything else. I did stop riding RnRC three years ago because I was coming off nauseated from not being able to see anything but blurs.
