Is this OK? Wedding dress is a bit confusing. It is in a very nice restaurant/banquet hall. It will be a sit down meal. The bride is wearing a traditional wedding dress. The groom and his party are wearing bowling shirts. Yep. It's on Halloween. They wanted a costume wedding but the bride's family was not happy with this idea. Wedding at 11, reception at 1. I wanted to do a simple black dress.

It would help on my expenses a bit as I already have the shoes and accesories. It should be a fun and different wedding. Bride and groom are very tattooed in retro ink and like to wear retro 50's-60's clothes. The reception invites us to have bat wings and witches brew.

I think your dress would fit right in, then! Sounds like a blast. I've always thought it would be cool to do a Halloween wedding!

I went to a wedding on Halloween once. DH went as a ballerina. It was a lot of fun! I think your dress will be fine!

I think a black dress is appropriate almost anytime. Didn't used to be. Sounds like these people wouldn't judge you for anything. No worries!! :)

As long as the dress doesn't look funerary and somber, you should be fine. Maybe get one of those bright, festive fabric flower pins or a bright belt, to make it festive.

Even bright shoes with a black dress are in. But don't match the other accessories in the same color as the shoes. That's too matchy-matchy nowadays. :p

Are the guests dressing up for Halloween as well? If so, then I say anything goes. Wear your black dress and a big ole witches hat. If not, I'd still where the black dress with your nice accessories. Who cares. They way I look at it when I go to a wedding and such....everyone is going to be looking at the bride and the bridal party not me, so I usually dress in what I want (not like a slob, but I don't stress if what I'm going to wear is appropriate or not)

Our anniversay was just yesterday (Oct 23) and I remember trying to pick out a wedding date when we got engaged (we always wanted Oct) but Oct 30th was an option and sometimes til this day, I really wish we had picked that date and had done a Halloween wedding. We both love the holiday and I really would have totally done the wedding up--Halloween style. Still think of it to this day. I would still have my husband and I dress in typical wedding attire (that way we would "come as a bride and groom for Halloween but still be able to get some traditional wedding pictures done) I would have everyone dress up for Halloween and I figure that would ease the pressure off of everyone on what to wear. I would decorate the tables with pumpkins and candy. Oh, don't mind me....guess I'm still in my little fantasy world.

But getting back to the point, wear your little black dress. Don't worry what people will think and have a great time!!!

That's what I was wondering. I like the witch hat idea, or some bat or cat ears, some devil ears to throw in some red :).......sounds like a fun wedding, I say have fun with it :)

We have been to several weddings in the last year and a half at all different times of day. Lots of little black dresses (and sundresses, and long gowns, and pantsuits, etc). It seems like almost anything goes now.

My niece got married this Sept. in an afternoon wedding. I wore a bright blue skirt and a white top. Most everyone else? Wearing black! Wear your black dress with some fun accessories, and maybe a fun witches' hat to the reception. Walmart has one this year that's really pretty. Black with silver stars!

No costumes but I thought I'd get a fun accesory like suggested, a witches hat, a mask or maybe some ears.
