It depends upon how many you buy. 7,563 rum cakes might pose a problem...

Also, if you eat them all before getting back to port they won't make it off the ship either.
Seriously, there is no problem getting the cakes off the ship.
We bought the cakes in Key West at one of the ship approved shops (can't remember the name, sorry). If you go to the shopping talks onboard ship they will have the lists of the approved shops. Also, you might win some goodies. We won a couple of things at the different talks.

There is no problem bringing rum cakes into the country.. if you try to bring fruit or the likes they will confiscate that.

tee hee grumbo... may ways you could take that question!:hyper:

When we were at the rum cake factory, we wanted to buy the set of six sample cakes that came with 4 or 6 mini bottles of rum and we were informed the Disney boat would not allow us to bring any liquor bought there on board. We were very confused but just bought the rum cakes and not the liquor. We asked when we reboarded and were told we could have brought the liquor on board so I don't know what the confusion was. They said that they delivered the liquor to the other ships but Disney didn't allow it. Anybody else have any experience with this?

Also, I know you can order online but the prices are not as reasonable as they were in the Cayman Islands. We are going to do this for Christmas though.

The only way to buy the liquor from the factory is if they deliver it to the ship. Disney's policy does not allow for ship deliveries. So if you want to purchase alcohol you have to go to a shop that will allow you to take it when payed for.
