Hello everyone!

My neighbors are traveling to WDW with us this time and one in our party is physically disabled. She will need to rent an ECV in order to get around. We have no experience with renting ECVs in Disney, with the exception of one trip years ago when my grandfather needed one. So, I'm hoping that someone can help us figure out how we go about renting an ECV for my neighbor to be sure she has a somewhat enjoyable trip.

My questions are: a) are ECVs available for rent in each of the parks? b) would it be wiser to rent an ECV from a private company in Orlando? c) is there a risk that an ECV will be unavailable for her at the parks (meaning is there a limited number and do they get rented quickly?); d) does anyone know the approximate cost to rent an ECV at the parks?

Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!! We leave in 4 days and we had a lenghty discussion about her need for an ECV last night, realizing that NONE of us had any clue about how to go about renting one!

Thanks!

there is a chance that the ecv's in the parks will run out so enting your own would be better. you could try www.floridamobility.com try randys mobility (can;t remember the website). coming from the uk i gone a search on google for scooter rentals in orlando and got a lot of hits. hope this helps and have a great vacation.

Check out the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board. It has everything you are asking (inlcuding phone numbers and website links to a number of different off-site companies reccommended by DIS posters that rent wheelchairs and ECVs).

We're also going to be renting from Walker. We've heard good things about them and like that they drop off and pick up at your hotel and you don't have to be there to receive the ECV since we will be arriving late and will need one first thing in the morning.

If they have not driven one before, Randy's Mobility is good because they do require someone be there to have the ECV delivered to (website and phone number is in the disABILITIES FAQs thread).
That way, you can get a chance to have everything explained and demonstrated while by the person who delivers it to you. We rented from Randys in March and found them to be excellent.
