Sounds good....I brought some music and liquid refreshments that may or may not have been spiked. :rolleyes1

:rockband: :drinking1

Oh good, since I don't have a teaching certificate (or degree for that matter)! Something to keep in mind for next trip...:surfweb:

Umm, Kimmar...popcorn::

i'll send you a photo copy of mine.:teacher:
better than getting the certificate out of the u know what magazines....

Just curious - does your district require a teaching certificate to be a substitute? I was amazed at the lack of requirements for substitutes here. A college degree is required - but not in any particular subject area. I "qualified" with a bachelors in psychology and masters in social work - at least I have had experience with children and families - but if my degree was in, say, accounting or engineering I'd still qualify. No interview, no reference check. The only background check they did was a CORI. :confused3 I only substitute at the public preschool that both of my kids "graduated" from - so they know me -but it seems weird that otherwise they would use someone they know nothing about that may or may not be very good at working with kids.

Is that an official thread hijack? :rolleyes1

.....:scared1: oh, I'm SICK IN BED with a fever and not feeling my ole' self for a few days, and the place gets TRASHED.....:sad2: ....is this what it's like at your houses when your PARENTS go away??!?!?!? *tsk*, *tsk*, *tsk* ....

i'm not hijacking but answering your question. it is a valid one.
you can substitute teach with any degree in illinois legally. yearly TB test and yearly physical with 2 references updated yearly.
the trick is to get hired and put on the sub list for the school district.

i had to interview to teach at the high school and had to have a specific number of hours in one subject besides secondary.

yea, if you had a degree in basketweaving, you could work in illinois.

hope you feel better soon.
being sick is not a good thing for any mom.

if you think i am trashing your home, i am sorry.
i would never do that, i'm not trash but a nice person like you are

"...NO-o-o-o-o-o! Not RAIN on Christmas!"

....well, we entered Mexico, not really sure of where exactly we were headed, so we did the only sensible thing TO do - we followed the crowd like cattle to slaughter....there were several artisans crafting little animal figurines out of wood (I believe) - really quite colorful, so I suggested to David that he might buy one for his mom. He declined so we moved on...

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX021.jpg

Holy maracas! What a festive place! It was brimming with activity and mariachi music, with the smell of chimichangas (or was it burritos?? :scratchin) filling the 'night' air.....

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX022.jpg

....I finally spied the entrance to Rio del Tiempo at the far corner, where we quickly made our way, trying NOT to stare at the folks enjoying their comidas Mejicanas, their Dos Equis and fruit margueritas, or their siestas...

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX023.jpg

...once aboard, we anxiously awaited to be transported to Mayan temples (or was it Aztec? - WHATEVER!)...

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX024.jpg

....okay, here comes something up there on the left, is it, is it - Montezuma himself, perhaps? :scared:

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX028.jpg

...:earseek: DONALD DUCK??!?!? And the THREE CABALLEROS??!?!
CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX031.jpg

Well, it was a bit campy, but all in good fun, and, at last I can honestly say: " Been there, done that...!"

We managed to escape Mexico without any signs of 'Montezuma's Revenge' between the four of us. Come to think of it, mebbe NOT, because when we exited, my DH and Daivd BOTH needed to use 'el bano', or the 'lil hombres room', which was fine with me. That's when the downpour began. Well, I exaggerate - it was more like a schpritzing, because it really was over as soon as it started...

....so we ventured through the upcoming countries, in search of their version of Santa Claus:

...no Sinter Klaas in Norway, but a very pretty tree..

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX032.jpg

...skipping through China

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX034.jpg

...we hurried towards Germany

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX033.jpg

in quest of that wonderful tannenbaum and Cristkind, but the closest to Santa we came was:

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX036.jpg

...I did stop to take in the quaint architecture and designs...

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX037.jpg

....hesitating momentarily to gaze towards the other side of the lake,

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX035.jpg

...we could see Canada in the distance, along with Soarin'!. We eventually found ourselves nearing Italy...

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX041.jpg

[...guy in middle, black shirt, blue jeans - IS HE WEARING A JOCK STRAP ON HIS HEAD??!?! :earseek: ]

...so we decided to check in at Tutto Italia:

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX042.jpg

....as you can see, there was a definite improvement in the weather...we were ready to experience "La Dolce Vita".....

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX043.jpg

CHRISTMAS2_2007_WDW_PIX044.jpg

...we were seated in the salon directly behind the check-in counter at a lovely corner table next to the window and had a great view of our surroundings, as well as the ever-attentive waitstaff, who were, oh-so-Italian....needless to say, dinner was "Magnifico!"; the insalatas were fresh and superb - our entrees, HEAVENLY! I ordered the special that came with the Processional Dinner Package meal - NY Strip Steak with pesto sauce , crisp green Italian beans, and lightly roasted potato slices - what a winning combination! Since my DH cannot eat wheat, he had gluten-free pasta, which was plentiful and looked quite appetizing. He sadly said that it was okay - but I think my DH is too used to MY 'homestyle Italian cooking' [ wink, wink!].....and the desserts! And, oooooh, what traditional Northern Italian meal is complete without Tiramisu? :cloud9: To top it off, the charming bella signorinas appeared with a small frost-colored gift bag that contained the most delectable Italian Christmas cookies and torrone....abbondanza! Ciao! Buon natale! (...BTW ~ we never DID get to sneak a peek at La Befana either, but we were about as close to heaven as we were gonna get....)

Actually I thought I was the hijacker - not you! :)
I wonder if I would have had to interview to sub at the high school level. Maybe they are pickier if you are teaching more advanced subjects?

Kimmar - sorry to hear you've been sick. It's been going around at my house too - luckily I got the mild version.

Great pictures - yes, campy is a great word to describe it! DH had some other words for it - that probably would get me banned from the DIS. :scared1:

Hope you are feeling better soon...if I could, i would send some z.d.'s up your way...which exit?! lol

I really liked your photos (besides the campy ones..lol) I really do need to take more time and get better shots at Epcot and WS!! In Sept I will!

Oh...maybe not!! lol Get it? Food...WINE.....lol...

Great installment! I heard the Tutto is supposed to close and it will reopen as something else--do you know anything about that? I hear such awesome reviews of it, I hate to see it close in fear something awful will open in it's place! Why fix something that isn't broke?

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear you've been sick Kim. I have been too-it was a rough day today, but I did get a lot of DISin' done!

Great update, Kim! Glad you're feeling better.

We were OK with the changes to the ride in Mexico. We agree that it is a pretty much been there, done that, don't really need to do it again type ride, though.

We were hesitant to place Tutto Italia on our ADR list for our July trip, since it is fairly new, but I think we might have to reconsider! Sounds good!

I'm surprised that you had trouble finding Santas. I thought they were out in most of the countries??

So now, no pressure on the next update. Get yourself all better, and then think about an update!!!

I knew the party would get you out!

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well but thanks for the update. I haven't been on Rio since the refurb so I'l have to check it out just so I can say (in her best Kim voice):snooty: : "Been there, done that."

Italia look beautifully decorated. and who knows?Maybe Dopey really is Santa.

Feel better:hug:
