We Want to Go to DISNEY, not the Beach! Updated ADRs 5/1

Since October I have had a new mission--to run the Princess half marathon in probably 2013. I have been training, first with strength training and now with running since October. I've lost 30 pounds.

A couple of weeks ago, I walked into the teacher's lounge to find a brochure for the McLeod Sports Medicine 5K Walk/Run in Florence, South Carolina. It funds the scholorship program for students and it's one of the reasons why the high school I work at has a sports trainer for the sprots programs. FFor more information on the programs, go here: http://www.mcleodhealth.org/MRMC/hms/human_motion_specialists.cfm

Anyway, I signed up. I trained harder than ever for the past three weeks, and today I ran/walked it. I had my best time ever, 39 min, 46 sec, which is not great, but I was not in last place.

Here are the pictures from today:

Ready to go--waiting in line at Brigg's Elementary School's bathroom:

Coming in for the finish--I'm the second blue dot. It looks like the time says 39 min, 99 sec, but it's 39 min, 39 sec.

So this is definitely not my last 5 K! I had a ball and can't wait for the next one!

Congratulations on the 5k! That is quite an accomplishment :) You did great

I loved all of your solo trip pictures...Christmas time at WDW just looks so magical. Some day I'll have to make it there, I guess... ;)

Hey there, came across your PTR and just had to join in! That's a great looking family you have there and I can't wait to see how this trip pans out. :goodvibes

Tomorrow I'm booking a trip for May(so last minute!) and I'm just so excited, so reading your PTR will help keep me psyched up!

So exciting that you're upgrading to Beach Club! The resort has never totally appealed to me since I'm a New England gal...I get enough of that theme at home! ;) But Storm A Long Bay will be a lot of fun! :thumbsup2

I'm checking in!:wave2:

I love your pre-trip report. You are doing such a great job and the pictures and writing are very well done! :thumbsup2

What Kind of Nikon do you have and is one of your lenses the 18-105? .... At least that's what I think I'm seeing. I have a D90 and I just got the 18-105 lens. One of my favorite things to do is to roam the parks at night and take pictures using a tripod and long exposures. Let me know if you are interested and maybe we can plan something while the husbands watch the kids. It's a pretty late night but the pics are phenomenal!

I also live about 50 minutes away from the Jersey shore, south of Atlantic City so we take day trips all the time too. My favorite moderate resort at Disney is POFQ and I love, love, LOVE! that boat ride to DTD.

We (Me 47, DH 54, DS,12) will be checking in to BC on Friday June 10th probably at around 10-10:30 am and we plan on chilling at the hotel and pool before heading out to DHS at around 3 pm for Star Wars weekends festivities. Since we will be up that morning at 3 am I figure it's hyperspace hoopla and then to bed for an early night. Sat and Sunday we'll be at DHS for as long as we can take it. My sister is checking in on Sat at the BC and staying until Friday. We check out on the 20th at around 6pm for a 9pm flight back to Atlantic City. She is bringing her DH and DS 15 who is best buddies with my son.

As for the general schedule we plan on doing the rope drop/ back at the hotel around lunch/ and then back out to the parks after dinner somewhere. I will probably at least see you hanging by the pool... :thumbsup2

On Saturday June 11 in the evening MK is open until 1 am so I was going to bop over there for a late night photo shoot (if I have the energy!). Sunday June 12 MK is open until 2am!.... so we shall see about that for a photo shoot as well! I think the night for that would really depend on the weather and I would only do both if I couldn't accomplish my goals.

I have my ADR's and they more than likely won't change. We are doing 50's prime time, Captain's Grille, Cape May Café, Teppan Edo, The Crystal Palace, Rose & Crown Pub, Hollywood & Vine, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, Yachtsman Steakhouse, San Angel Inn, 'Ohana, Le Cellier Steakhouse, Les Chefs de France, and the Biergarten. For some of the locations, especially the ones at the hotel, we are going multiple times, either for breakfast or dinner.

Needless to say we went for the deluxe dining plan since DS, age 12 can get scary hungry at times :scared1:

So that's the scoop for our trip.

Now if only we could get Dee to come down the weekend of the 10th, 11th and 12th! I'm sure her family wouldn't even notice! ::yes::

Thanks! Christmas was awesome, and I'm contemplating a Christmas trip this year with my daughter.

Congrats on booking that trip! I can see why the whole beachy theme would not appeal to you--it's the reason why Wilderness lodge does not appeal to me--I lived a good portion of my life in a log home!

I'm checking in!:wave2:

I have a D60. My lens is a 18-200mm. I love that lens and the camera itself! You're on for a late park meet!

I also live about 50 minutes away from the Jersey shore, south of Atlantic City so we take day trips all the time too. My favorite moderate resort at Disney is POFQ and I love, love, LOVE! that boat ride to DTD.

It's a fun boat ride the DTD. I'm glad we are staying one night at POR for that boat ride!'

My plans are at home, not at work, so I'll have to look at the 10th. I am pretty sure that is an Epcot day for us, with dinner at Tutto Italia. Saturday I believe is Animal Kingdom with dinner at California Grill.

I'm pretty sure I can shoot over to MK either day. I know I will be at MK for EMH on Sunday night.

Those are some great reservations. I'll again have to look at what I ended up with. I haven't looked at my charts in days!

So that's the scoop for our trip.

That would be soo cool!

I like the way you gals think!!!

I haven't said anything on the BC thread, but we are actually going to the "Other Orlando" in July- slipping Disney a Mickey and hanging with Harry!

I did break the news to Teena- her response...

What??????????? You're kidding.

She can't believe we are staying offsite (Portofino at Universal), but I don't think she realizes we are not going to Disney at all. 4 nights/5 days, we will spend time at Universal/IOA and Sea World. We took the kids to Sea World one day in 2004, but we haven't done the other parks as a family.

We will be there right around the time she will be in Vegas with Jeanne and the new baby.

Wow--I have the same reaction as Teena!

ETA--I would love to go to Universal and the trip to the Beach Club was almost 1/2 DIsney, 1/2 Universal, but the Beach Club won out. This time.

Oooh! A DOUBLE AGENT!!!!

But really, we will all find ourselves having little flings with Harry and Shamoo and whatnot, only to come crawling back in the arms of the Mouse, begging for forgiveness and a little pixie dust. No, we won't hold it against you. No.... we really won't. Way back in the long forgotten pages of our photobooks is the proof that we too have SINNED against the mouse. Proof the we too have a life outside of the castle.

We shall keep this our dirty little secret ;)

A fellow sinner in Marlton
PS. Bring me back a BUTTERBEER!!!!!!

great update! I think the Princess would be a blast!!

Tink--it's over a year away--start with the couch to 5k and we can do it together!

Thanks for the Christmas photos! They are just what I need today - been feeling the planning funk since we're in between the "YAY we booked" and the "Holy carp it's time to make ADRs" dates... You're getting me jazzed again with all the decorations. It's freezing cold outside (after a BEAUTIFUL run of 75* days...) and here I am counting down the days to NEXT winter!

Also - heck yeah! About the 5K!!! It's been great following your progress up to this point and seeing how much it's paid off! E is thinking of doing the 5K at WDW sometime next year too. I think her BF may even join in. I'll have to tell her to poke in here and follow you too!

Way behind...finally caught up! I feel like a broken record saying that on the different PTR/TRs I am reading!! :rotfl:

Love all the flashback pictures! Your Christmas trip pictures are so awesome! It has me itching to go at Christmas!!

And congrats on the 5K! I keep sayign I am going to start training to run in a 5k but have yet to get motivated!!

Trade you a butterbeer for a Sunken Treasure or Grand Marnier slushie!

Hmmm. . .you may have a hard time prying the Grand Marnier from me. . .

I'm glad that you enjoyed them. The BW pictures were specifically for you, btw.

The progress towards that 5k was a big thing, and I'm glad I did it! And tell her to come on in!

I need to get over to yours. It's been crazy here recently!

The 5k was great--I can't even tell you how empowering it was!
