We stayed in Cinderella's Castle

Hi Gogriz

I was the person standing in awe watching you and your family outside the firehouse after your ride in the parade. No, I didn’t think you were too abrupt with me, I was just thankful that you stopped and talked to a “commoner” at such an important time in your life. I loved watching your daughter (I have a four year old granddaughter) so I could relate to her reactions. She was a princess before she ever put on her Cinderella dress which, by-the-way she looked precious in. We too were there for the P & P Party and I looked for you the rest of the day but never caught a glimpse again. I also looked up at the lights in the castle often that evening and thought about what it was like and what you guys were doing. Thanks so much for answering so many of questions and taking us your trip of a lifetime. I agree with the other posts, it was so nice that a “normal” family won, that WDW is a place where dreams do come true, and so great that you were a DIS fan and shared your experiences with us. CONGRATULATIONS!! Ps. I took some pictures of your family both in the parade and standing there watching it and I’d be glad to give you copies – just contact me.

I have yet to come across anyone on this board that is a "commoner". Everyone is magical :wizard: with their passion for Disney.

Just seen this thread..congrats to gogriz and family. Lucky, lucky people. You sound very deserving of it. :thumbsup2

Good luck to all the rest of you out there!

Husband enters the thread for the first time:

:cool1:
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I enjoyed reading about your familly's experience. The photos were great too! I especially liked the one with all four of you. The one of your youngest daughter and Cinderella visiting with each other is priceless. It is great that afellow DISer won.

To Mr. GoGriz - thanks for your post.

Wow, that´s amazing!

I must admit, I would have hated if we would have been picked, and then turned down because we don´t qualify since we´re from Iceland.:confused3

I just stumbled on this article in the Sun Sentinal by an AP reporter who stayed in the castle. It made me sick and if I could figure out how to contact this reporter, I would. :sad2:

He just makes a mockery of the whole thing. Its sad that he was too concerned with the Jack Daniels and sleeping in to appreciate the opportunity he was given.:snooty:

I can't even imagine how Disney, and all its wonderful CMs, is reacting to this article.:sad2:

I wanted to cry:sad1:

What a dream to come true. Congrats!

hey, this is the oldest "go griz" daugter... i totally agree with my dad on his view of the article written about the castle... he was to caught up with the fact that there was no alcohol and he couldn't sleep in... there were SOOOOO many things the Disney Cast Members did for the guests. I mean come on, the CM that got my dad and i in to see Captain Jack Sparrow, was off for the night and with his own daughter, yet he still offered to and make seeing Jack without a wait a reality... there were som many other things, I have no idea how thet guy could complain about the Jack Daniels... and if he was on the job writing the story about the castle, then he shouldn't be worrying about whether or not he has a beer in his hand... i don't know how any one can be so ungrateful:confused:  :sad1:

the Disney Cast Members are too awesome for this kind of publicity on something they've worked so hard on... i'm dissapointed, cause i've heard thet he's a oretty good writer and reporter:sad2:

I can't believe the part where he writes "Before dinner we finally meet Cinderella. In blond wig, powdered cheeks and lilting voice, she is convincing, and poses for pictures with us. She embraces my arm; I do not tell her I will later be naked in her bathtub." That was totally uncalled for:mad: and I hope that Disney goes back on you for writing such garbage. I'm sorry ...someone track this reporter down and run him over with a mob of Disney characters!:rolleyes1

I totally agree with you, does he have to call her out about her wig? Like hello? how many women have fake hair these days? Does he call 'em all out;) and he definetly didn't deserve the experience, I have had several people ask me if I can book them the castle, for $500.00 (why does he mention the AP payed?) The guy is weird...

I tried to find a way to contact him but perhaps these AP writers are well insulated. I wrote a letter to the editor at the Sun Sentinal instead. I plan to keep trying and perhaps write letters to all the papers that I can find that ran the story. When something is as tasteless as that was, its hard to keep quiet.

I think he says that the AP paid because he works for the AP and Disney is letting a few reporters stay there. (Hoping for good press?) I am not sure why Disney put such a low value on that particular prize since, based on what my family got, there is no way its worth so little. The only thing I can think of is so that individuals do not have to pay very much tax on it.

They can't be happy at Disney right now. But who would ever think someone would right a story like that?

well, IMO the gogriz family had a MUCH better article/review of the castle stay than that silly AP writer. :lmao: and you would think they would pick an AP writer that would actually ENJOY a stay at the castle. :sad2:

that man should be plundered by pirates! pirate: ARRRRR!

I wonder how the family that stayed with him enjoyed it?

I guess the thing that irks me is that he accepted the prize. Disney chooses people on a fair basis. This person knew what to expect before he accepted the stay in the castle. He knew he would have to be in the parade and "waste" (right) his day. If he didn't think he would enjoy it, he should have passed on it and allowed another family who would have definitely appreciated this prize!

This man should be ashamed of what he said. He should have given the opportunity to another family who would have enjoyed it.......How long is this "contest" going on for????

He didn't win this as a prize. He was allowed to stay there as a member of the press.
