We Smelled It ... It Had To Be Eaten! Christmas Eve Food Porn posts #1170 & #1171!!

Somewhere between the decision to cancel our dinner reservation at Victoria & Albert's and the complete and total meltdown of the American economy, I decided that we deserved some kind of special something to mark the beginning of our WDW trip. I'm a big dork in many ways, but perhaps no more so than with my childish delight of surprises left in WDW rooms - I'm still waiting to actually be surprised ... it's hard to feign wide-eyed astonishment when you're the person placing the order with the deliverer of prepaid gifties.

Sure... drop hints..

Where are you staying next time??? :confused3

Hey Brenda, I went to my local liquor store and stocked up on a bunch of those little bottles. The lady behind the counter didn't even blink an eye when I whipped out my one quart ziploc bag to see how many I could fit in it.:lmao:

That made me L-O-L :lmao:

The chocolate coins actually came in handy on the flight home as we somehow managed to end up seated in front of the only screaming toddler on the whole damn plane. At one point I was inspired to offer some to her parents as a potential distraction.

Score one for the childless cranky crohn! Shiny things are great ... shiny, sweet things are even better ... that kid was quiet in no time flat. :lmao:
That was genious!!!

Love the treat pics! Is there a website where you can see the gift options? I wonder what they have for the holidays.....

Chocolate always works with kids.....well, that and whisky in their bottles.:rotfl:

Looking forward to hearing about Raglan Road!:thumbsup2

We thought about offering booze instead, but we really didn't feel like we had enough to make everyone happy.

hmmm...what could be more boring...Brenda's food reports...or politicians...hmm I will have to think about that one for awhile.

Ohhhh, I dunno ... there's some pretty interesting things coming out of this campaign. :rolleyes1 I, for one, will be happy once it's finally over.

Sure... drop hints..

Where are you staying next time??? :confused3

No hint dropping intending ... I was just poking fun at the way things are. And actually we were both surprised in May 2007 by some really good cruise friends when we were at WDW for our anniversary, so I guess I misunderestimated my "waiting to be surprised" comment. ;) :lmao:

That made me L-O-L :lmao:

Yes, I thought that was a spew-worthy comment! :thumbsup2

:rolleyes1

Brenda did you give the poor child a choice or did Jason distract the parents while you rammed the sweets in the kids month?.....:rolleyes1

I was actually very nice ... so there! :snooty:

Mel, just google WDW Florist and the link to their website will pop right up - you will find pages of information. They already have some of their holiday gifts posted for purchased ... some are a little pricey but they're so cute!

:lmao: That's what I want to know!!!!

We shoved no chocolate in the toddler's mouth, but we sure gulped down the rum in an effort to snooze tipsily. :rotfl2:

You had me at "four small liquors" . . .:rotfl2: That Trunk 'o Treats looks GOOD!:thumbsup2

I'm really looking forward to your review of Raglan Road. I gave each person in the family one restaurant request for our April trip, and I chose Raglan Road. Hubby chose Teppan Edo, and I really don't see a lot of reviews for that. Any experience with that one?

I'm going to try really hard to stay on top of this thread -- I just love your reviews.:goodvibes

Brenda,

Enjoying your reviews, as always. Just started at the beginning of your blog as well and enjoying that just as much!

I always enjoy reading about kindred foodie and liquorie (is that a word?) spirits (<--- look, a pun! Liquor, spirits....ah forget it).

Brad

Those treats look so good! I had a wonderful boss once who made all of us in her unit a dipped pear for Christmas. It was beautiful and yummy. The treasure chest gives me an idea for a Halloween centerpiece.....thanks!

(I'm still feeling guilty for not liking the Mickey bar; it does seem like a direct insult to the Mouse, doesn't it? )

Brenda - Love that goodie basket with the little bottles....;) Can't wait to read about Raglan, we're trying it in a few weeks!

I think that is right about where you had me too!

So at some point before finishing up the last couple things here at work, I am going to hit up the WDW Florist website and have something tasty delivered to my room (especially since I completely messed up the surprise basket I was planning on having in our stateroom for my DH) <need a "p'ed" off smiley>!

Thanks for this installment! I was hoping to get this one in before I left. Now I can look forward to the long ones when I come back. Right? LOL.

I like the orange swirl over at the orange place by the Tiki Birds... I know it has sunshine in the name, but I get confused with the place over at the Land... :confused3

The orange swirly by the Tiki Birds is called a Citrus Swirl (yummy), and over at Beaches and Cream they have a delightful little thing called Frozen Sunshine (yummier by far).

As a devotee of all things orange and vanilla, I want to know what the one at the Land is all about! :yay:

And Brenda, that trunk looked loverly - I'm a lightweight when it comes to booze, but I can handle the sweet creamy Irish-y kind (aka Bailey's, my favorite), and spreadable cheese alongside fancy crackers just makes life better, don't you think?

Those goodies from the Disney Florist look great, loving the little bottles of booze. Looking forward to Raglan Road its one of our favourites x

Oh Brenda, you started without me (pouts!)

Forgive me, Bendy, for I am late - I do have a note from my Mother, though, and I stayed behind after class so I could catch up on your latest escapades. It looks as though I haven't missed much yet so do feel free to continue now :) I'm living vicariously through food reviews until next October - it seems such a long way away.

The other item that I ordered was actually more appropriate for us and something we enjoyed throughout the length of our stay. This is called Treasured Treats and is described as follows: Truly a treasure of wonderful treats to give as a gift or enjoy all for yourself. Four small liquors, cheese, crackers, pretzels and more inside a chest you'll want to keep for your treasures at home as well.

That's right ... this giftie included booze! How could I pass it up?

So what do we have?

Four bottles perfect for air travel: Cognac, Irish Cream, Vodka, and Rum; chocolate coins; mixed nuts; dipping pretzels; mustard; cheese spread; and overly seeded crackers. The trunk actually was pretty cool, too - it's like a miniature steamer trunk and we packed some of our breakables in it on the way home and it was perfect!

We enjoyed the Bailey's one night mixed with some milk ... added the vodka to cranberry juice one afternoon ... gave the cognac to BriarRosie ... and sucked down the rum on our return flight. We didn't finish all the snacks but those that we had were quite tasty, especially the pretzels and mustard.

:lmao:

And there you have it! Stay tuned for a real review sometime this weekend ... food and booze galore at Raglan Road, which we still highly recommend!

Thanks for reading!

Hey! I recognize that cognac! I have to buy some emergency chocolate to eat with it. I'll try not to be a bastage and drink it soon. ;)

Oh, when I saw the Friend or Foe thing, I thought you had gotten Severus Snape's trick or treat apple. ;)

That Halloweeny one was awesome! :thumbsup2 Very well decorated ::yes:: I never think to order anything like that, might have to keep that in mind for future trips :goodvibes

I love traveling Brenda style! You take an already wonderful thing and plus it a la Walt himself.

Note to self: Talk, cry, scream, talk more, cry harder, scream louder...get chocolate. :goodvibes

Hmmmm, I tried that here at work and they asked me to leave. Remind me to do that again tomorrow but at 10:00 am instead of 4:15 pm. :thumbsup2
