Ok, just let me say first, I know I'm wrong. I absolutely know it. No chance whatsoever that I'm right. But I'm still irked at my neighbors.

I work shift work...crazy insane hours. So on Wednesday , the 5th I had to get up at 4am. Kinda puts a damper on the festivities of the 4th you know. Could I sleep tho? Of course not. Anyway, tonite my son shoots off some of the fireworks we couldnt do on tuesday. My neighbor comes running over to yell at him....disturbing them and all. I apologized and made the kids come back in immediately. Obviously, we shouldnt have done it. Its my friday night tho....this is my chance to do it. So I'm still irked. Just kind of felt like I've been sent to see the principal.

At least they came and told you themselves rather than calling the cops.

Well, there ya go...I guess it could have been worse.

How late was it anyway? It was only 11 when you posted it.

I don't mind when people set them off before or after the 4th, but I admit it irks me when they do it later than 10 p.m. or so. I wouldn't complain until it went past 11 or midnight, and then only if it was constant.

Are they legal in your state? If so, and you did at a reasonable hour, your neighbor can blow it out her ear.

If they're not legal or you did after 9pm, then frankly you got off lucky, because I would have called the cops!

Around here they have been blowing them off for weeks! The Indians sell fireworks that are only legal on the reservation. And they will continue to do so for probably another week.

I would have called the cops as well. Its illegal to set them off any other day than the 4th where I live. As a matter of fact, I have in the past called the cops on neighbors who didn't follow the rules. Last year it was the frat house one house over in my cul de sac that was setting them off at 11:45pm on a sunday night last year. On dry grass no less. I dont mind it on the 4th even though I can't stand them. But any other day is not cool.

well, someone's husband drove down the street Wednesday the 5th at 5:00am honking the horn at all the sleeping neighbors. I think someone could go to sleep on the night of the 4th!

Well, I did say I was wrong. It was after 10 pm, sometime around 10:30. It was a few bottle rockets and firecrackers. It was not a long drawn-out thing, just a few minutes. My goodness, people set them off on saturday, sunday, monday and tuesday here. Most people were off work during that whole time. I was not off work during any of it. I think (here where I live) if they had called the police, they would have come, told me to stop and rolled their eyes toward the neighbors house. I was only irked (not mad, irked) because it seemed an overreaction to me. (angry nieghbor charging over to kick the boys butt, he was surprised when he saw me, I think it threw him off) Like I said, I was wrong.

I'm glad you can admit that your wrong. After 10pm? Why would you even allow that in the first place? I would be irked too if I were your neighbor. My children are sleeping at 10:00. I don't care what day it is, but I do care what time it is.

I actually didnt realise it was as late as it was...this happens when you work crazy shift work....as I mentioned earlier. It doesnt get dark until around 9:45 here. I am surprised how many people are so "shocked" at my behavior when I hear fireworks as I speak...and its after midnight now (albeit friday night)

lindalinda, I guess it depends on where you live. Personally, as long as it was before 11:00 p.m. I wouldn't have cared.

We've been listening to fireworks on my suburban street for 2 weeks now and I still heard some last night, around midnight!! I could put up with it for a couple days every year, but 2 weeks gets to be too much. We even have a police officer that lives on our street, doesn't matter, they do it anyway. :confused3

Maybe they're like me. Maybe they have a big, HUGE dog, who's a big HUGE sissy.

Suzanne <----- who has a sissy of a dog shaking in the corner, because my knucklehead of a teenage neighbor is shooting them next door. At 11:00pm.

Same here, I expect to hear them every night until people have exhausted their supplies, LOL. Really, I guess I am just one to be all that bothered by things like that. Now, if it went on for an hour or something (or was in the middle of the night)...maybe I would say something. I live in a fairly quiet neighborhood, so I can put up with a few loud bangs and the resulting giggles (a few times per year) without being upset about it.
