Wow. We booked the 7 night Western Caribbean Merry-time Christmas cruise almost a year ago. And we sail one month from today. It's starting to get real. I've never been on a cruise. my wife has, but never with Disney. We've read up and kind of know what's coming, but the anticipation is ratcheting up :) Paperwork is done, documents ready, transport set; we really just need to show up.

Anything we should be thinking of?

We are super psyched for this!!!!1

I have a packing checklist. It saves me from thinking "Did I forget this?" I get so excited before a cruise and this keeps me from worrying about the little stuff. As it goes in the suitcase, it gets crossed off.

I will tell you savor the first minutes you walk onto the Fantasy. I had been on 10 DCL cruises before our first Very Merry last year (7 day western) and have seen the ship done up for HOHS before... The Atrium is just stunning all decked out for Christmas, and I was in awe. Then if you can do it go wander the ship super early morning or late at night to capture some of the best pictures without guests around.

You will have a fabulous time. Enjoy!

I’ll be on the same cruise! It feels unreal that it’s only 30 days away, when is was 400 something away!

If you haven't already done so, book activities on ship and off. I booked off months ago for our trip next week and wasn't thinking about the on ship activities. I was able to get an activity for my husband and I, but our friends were not able to. Have a great time. We will be cruising on the Dream next Friday. We are excited to see it decorated for Christmas. We cruised 5 years ago. So it's been a while.

You might want to do simple door decorations (my thing), just for a bit of fun and to help ID your stateroom doors. Use magnets, no tape. Just a single Mickey head or two will do. It is not mandatory and easy to pack. Fish Extenders are a whole different critter. Go on this cruise and see what others have done on and around their doors and then consider getting more involved next time. I usually advise people to not overplan, let the DCL magic come to them...enjoy the new surprises.

It sounds like you covered this, but be sure to “put eyes on” your passports (or birth certificates) to make sure you have them all.

There is still time to order replacements if one or more are lost, but that window is closing.

Make sure you have a little room to grow for your clothes. The average cruiser gains 7 pounds on a 7 night cruise a little more if it’s their first cruise.
