I couldn't talk DH into the YC so we settled on the BWI. Since we've never stayed in bw area before, any tips are appreciated. I booked the standardview concierge. Any room suggestions?
This could open up a whole new world for us. We normally stay at CR & GF.

Thank you.

We also picked the Boardwalk Inn for our first Epcot area resort stay (in late May). Will be interested in what others have to say. -HM

You will love the Boardwalk area. It has many great restaurants within walking distance and fun entertainment on the Boardwalk at night. For restaurants, you can't go wrong with Shula's for steaks, Flying Fish for seafood and Spoodles for something exotic and different.

The Boardwalk Inn and Villas are very convenient to both Epcot and MGM if you want to walk to either. The quiet pool at the Boardwalk Inn, set in a a secluded rose garden, is perhaps the loveliest adult pool on Disney property. And if there are children along, the Luna Park Pool with "roller coaster" slide, is great fun. There is also a nice children's playground.

We usually stay at BWV, but last year spent a couple of nights at the BWI. We found the room to be elegant and comfortable. We think the furnishings and appointments are higher quality and more luxurious at the Inn, when comparied with the Villas (but we like the extra space in a one-bedroom villa).

Although the YC has many fans, we actually prefer the Boardwalk. The lobby is gorgeous and has so many fun and sometimes quirky decorations -- like the replica of the elephant hotel that was on the NJ shore at the turn of the century. The antique miniature carousel is enchanting.

For us, the Boardwalk is home (even though we aren't DVC'ers). You'll have a wonderful stay.

The boardwalk is our favorite area too. I love the atmosphere at night, I love the proximity to my favorite resort (EPCOT), the restaurants are yummy and let's talk about the bakery! Yummy.

One of the things we like to do is watch Illuminations and then head over to the Big River Brewery. We sit ouside on the BW, have a snack or a late dinner, a beer from the microbrewery on premise for dh and lots of people watching. You can see most of the the nighttime entertainment from there and it is so relaxing. Sigh, I wish I was there and not looking at all the rain and feet of snow :)

lyncruiser, very well said and I am complete agreement with you even down to your assessment of the rooms. As much as we love the room of the one bedroom villas, the Boardwalk Inn rooms are so lovely it is hard not choose them. We almost stayed last spring at the YC but decided if we did we would be looking across Crescent Lake wishing we were "home".

Thank you for your replies and encouragement! This will be our first stay and from the sounds of it not our last in the boardwalk area. I am finally getting excited.

Be sure to check out the FAQ thread on the BWI, it has great info on this resort which is also my new favorite spot!

We originally picked YC but switched when we found out that the main slide at SB was going to be closed for refurbishment while we're there. My DD loves waterslides and I know she'll love the 200 ft Keister Coaster at BWI. We have never stayed at an EPCOT resort either and are so excited about all the possibilities at this great location... walk to MGM and EPCOT, great dining, Illuminations and the fun atmosphere of the BW at night Our trip is in just over two weeks!

Have fun!:p :p :p

I stayed at the BWI in May 2000 and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The resort feels so relaxed and inviting. I also really love the room decor. Plus, the location is WONDERFUL! It is only a 5 minute walk to Epcot and about a 20 minute walk (or a boat ride if you prefer) to Disney-MGM Studios. Enjoy your trip! :)

If you love convenience and activity, you will love the Boardwalk. DH and I stayed at BC on our honeymoon in '95 and BW was still being built. Back then we said, the next time we come back, we're staying there!

Well we did, and did, and did! :)

We were there in 2000, 2002, & 2003 and we still love it! We bought into DVC on our last trip and even though it's BC, we're hoping to use it for BW. I only wish we could have afforded DVC at the time they were selling BW!

The other thing I love is the quiet pool on the Inn side. You can relax and swim in a nice atmosphere. What amazes me is that ever time I'm at that pool, I can't believe how close I am to the Board walk - you really can't hear anything and feel like your a million miles away from all the craziness!

Have a great time!
