We'll be doing a short trip to Myrtle Beach right after we pick it up for the weekend and I just made reservations for January 20th through 27th at Fort Wilderness for our first "long" trip away from home (yay!). I've never been to Disney in January what can I expect and any hints for being in a travel trailer at the Fort in January?
Thanks in advance.

P.S. We are totally new to this - as this will be our first kind of camper/trailer ever :cool1: :scared1: pixiedust:

That time of year can be a little erratic weather wise. Make sure you bring a variety of warm stuff. Its usually not as crowded, if it werent for the kids missing school late Jan and early Feb would be my favorites.
We use a small 1500 watt electric heater during the cold weather. Rarely do we use the trailer furnace. The electric has always been able to keep us warm. We have a 27 ft bunk house so it sounds like we are similar size.

CONGRATULATIONS! You're gonna love it! :thumbsup2

I'd strongly recommend several weekend getaways. It takes just a bit to get used to the ins and outs of RVing. You will find yourself wishing you had brought "X" or noticing that you need to get a "Y", and that the "Z" you thought you had to have, just took up space.

Have a great trip!

You will love Myrtle Beach!

That is my favorite place next to Fort Wilderness! We love camping on the beach! You'll want to leave your window's cracked at night so you can hear the ocean.

This time of year there is no one there, you will have the entire beach to your self!

There is so much to do there! We loved going to the outets, there is a Disney outlet there too!

Have a great time! :sunny:

Have to go along with tis post...I still fine tune as to what i need to take in my pop up with each camping trip......Sometimes i pack tooo dang much and other times i kick myself for leaving stuff and have to find a wal-mart....
Good Luck with your new camper! And have a safe trip!
Don

p.s. practice backing that puppy into a space! It will save you allott of heartache if you can do this well!

Congrats and Jan. is a great time to go.

Make sure you do a complete PDI, pre-delivery inspection of everything, before you sign on the dotted line head out.

Thanks everyone! We were supposed to pick it up today and head to Myrtle Beach afterwards for the weekend, but with these storms coming up, being that this will be our first time, I think I'll postpone until next weekend (not the picking up part, just the trip to the beach).

Smart lady! We didn't have as much forethought with our first motorhome and had to replace the awning shortly after we got it because a storm came through, not much wind, but put too much water on the awning before we learned to angle it during rain. Besides, you don't want to drag a lot of mud into your new rig on the maiden voyage.
