We need to break up. It's not you. It's me.

2. This is just an internet board where people can talk and complain about meaningless junk. So at least its the right forum. I assume most folks don't let these things effect their everyday lives. (Goodness I certainly hope not...) Its a good place to vent about trivial changes.

You perspective is appreciated.

But the op IS letting affect her life.

Not sure the trip reports forum is totally positive (my reports aren't always like that...then again at least you have the whole story to base things on) but it is a good place to hear of experiences not just ideas.

You can see how long I've been here. It has always been exactly like this. And people have, since that time, every so often said that it used to be nicer and kinder. I have never seen that idyllic time. Must have been earlier. I've only seen some good some bad lots of ideas and philosophy... Disagreements over all of the above. It's like there's a whole bunch of humans coming together and too about something. Imagine that!

Yep and everyone has an opinion on everything. Filter out the ones you don't need and store the ones you do. And absolutely, absolutely (nod to Fred of Scooby Doo) skip the threads that don't affect you. :)

I've been here since mid-2000 (intermittent and lots of lurking) and it's always been like this, but with fewer people: some insisting on constant pixie dust, some finding the glass empty all the time in every case, and lots of us in the middle who skip the threads we know aren't what we're looking for.

Kind of reminds me of when people say "first world problems." As if anyone who engages in discourse over trivial things isn't grateful for the things they have. Interestingly enough there are people that are dealing with cancer or other serious illnesses in these threads all the time.

 Anyway, bye

Dear Disboards, we need to break up. Its not you. Its me.

Thank you for the many great tips of advice and knowledge through the years, however, my attitude makes it difficult for me to continue our relationship any longer.

You see, Im an oncology nurse. I spend my days helping people fight through some of their darkest days. I also help transition many to hospice care. I count my blessings every day and am grateful for each day I have my health, my family, my friends, my job. My day to day duties can be overwhelming and often filled with grief. But I wouldnt have it any other way. I have the best job in the world.

Disney for me is a way to escape reality, really. Its a chance for me to hug my family tight, love a beautiful vacation with wonderful sights, sounds, and even smells. When Im not there I love planning our trip, and visiting sites like yours. I love finding posts with titles like you know youve arrived at WDW when&. or your greatest WDW memory of your children is& Sharing the joy other people post is fun. Living vicariously through someone elses trip report is great. These are the things that make me smile.

Of late Ive mainly seen many posts venting about fast pass, magic band colors, food critiques, parades that might be cancelled&. Visiting this site is not as happy for me as it used to be.

So you see, its not you, its me. I dont worry much about fast pass, well still get on rides Im sure. Whatever color I get for a magic band is okay. We usually go to the restaurants for the experience and atmosphere, not the food. If one parade is cancelled one night, Ill find another.

I have my health. I have my family. I have the ability to afford a vacation to WDW. And for all of these I am immensely blessed. My patients have always taught me not to take a single day for granted.

Flames may come my way. And Im okay with that, because you see, Its not you. Its me.

Your arm/s must be very very tired. Careful, don't pat yourself on the back TOO hard.

Why not just read the threads you want or find interest in, and ignore the rest?

You wasted probably at least 15 minutes of your life writing that nonsense.
Do you realize how many people who talk/complain about "trivial" things here are quite possibly battling the same things that you deal with? And you just tried to make them feel like crap while implying how special YOU are.
I'm happy to hear all the things about WDW that make you smile, that's AWESOME and I DO agree with you for sure, but to try to use those thoughts to make others feel like garbage for the topic of WDW related threads they participate in?? Not cool. Peace

The original post is nothing more than an attempt to shame others and does nothing but stir the pot. The very fact that the OP ended it with "flames may come my way" indicates she is well aware of the incendiary nature and tone of her post. It does nothing to further the discourse of any topic.

If anyone feels the need to walk away, just do it. No need to announce it to us, or give us a lecture on the way out.

:thumbsup2

I hope the OP and all those that agree with her have never had a negative opinion on ANYTHING in life, the newest movie, a book, the newest flavor of potato chips etc bc you know there is more to life than any of these things and we should all prioritize the important things in life and not comment on them ever, or we might make someone else upset about their favorite thing:rolleyes1

Posts like the OP make me want to say, "Let's play the glad game!"
I love Disney but I don't wear rose colored glasses either here or in real life. I am grateful my life and it's blessings. Complaining about changes Disney has made does not lessen my appreciation.

I can kind of understand where the OP is coming from. I was browsing through thread titles this morning and thinking back about how stress free it used to be to plan a Disney vacation. We didn't know if there was construction at the resort, or if a ride was being refurbished until we arrived. We had old fashioned metal keys that went in metal locks (remember the ones at CR shaped like CR?) so the door always opened. We had to show resort ID to use transportation, and it was never crowded. I remember when everything was spontaneous, and nothing was planned but maybe your hotel reservation.

Did we get a surprise every now and then? Sure. I remember quite a few, but I don't remember hearing any one complaining about it. Everyone just kind of went with the flow, and had a great time, and we didn't stress before, during, or after. If the lobby was torn apart for a rehab, or the pool had been torn out for a replacement, we dealt with it and didn't allow it to ruin our trip in the slightest. Sometimes it seems like these days the smallest thing can get blown way out of proportion (not just Disney).

So sometimes, when there are a lot of negative threads, I miss those days when there was a lot less knowledge and a little more magic pixiedust:.

A hair flip for Christmas! No holiday season on a message board is complete without one.

Look, this is a trip planning discussion board. Of course most of this stuff is trivial. To imply that people aren't allowed to complain about details of their trips or that people who do complain have no other, greater focus is unfair. It's actually insulting. Just because I complain about my dinner service or how clean my room is, doesn't mean I don't have other heavy issues in my life or no understanding of people who currently have it a lot worse than my petty complaint. That's kind of insulting, too.

People are allowed to be unhappy about small details regarding their multiple thousand dollar theme park vacation without it at all diminishing the plight of the sick, dying or suffering. If I contradict myself, then I contradict myself. I contain multitudes, etc etc.

Enough already! When are the mods going to open a sub-forum to put all the people complaining about complainers? I just want to read threads about FP+ and non-purple MagicBands! ;)

I totally agree.

I've been to Disney about 15 times and have never had a bad Disney trip...nor have I ever heard of anyone I know personally having less than a stellar trip. IMO, there's NO SUCH THING as a bad Disney trip.

People with nothing better to do will whine about whatever they can find fault with and anything that changes regardless of the topic...like, embrace change and get excited about the new things that are happening that make each trip new and interesting. Oy.

You're right.

Nobody has ever had a "less than stellar" Disney trip. In the history of the world, actually. It's all that pixie dust that everyone huffs when they pass through the gates. Anyone who complains about anything must be lying.

I think some have missed the OP's point. Some of us are looking for valid info on planning. It's very difficult when you have to wade through threads of bickering back and forth or redundant threads like FP+. I get it, people want to complain. May be have a complaint board...I believe that has come up more than once. All the op did was....voice her complaint. :confused3

You want valid info on planning but find FP+ threads redundant? :confused3 Color me confused.

This isn't valid info on planning, neither are the multiple other threads like it.

At least FP+ actually has something to do with Disney, and isn't just about feeling superior to big, bad complainers on the internet.

I don't know about anyone else but I find the bantering that goes on here to be highly entertaining! I love checking up on this board in the morning with my cup of tea and seeing what hilarity I have missed. If I really need information, I just head for the stickies.

It sounds like a break would be a good thing for the OP. In looking at her recent posts, 4 of the first 7 that come up are complaints about complaints.

OP, I hope you find a board you are happy with. Although, I do concur with the suggestion to try out the trip reports section here. It's full of great positive stories.

Well said and no offense to any one person, but this particular forum IMO, is the worst of all of them about going on and on about nothing and getting rude in the process. You have to wade through the actual facts and informative information.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.
