We need an *official* cruising thread

This was from one of the wonderful sea days while crossing the Atlantic last August.

OMG, That is Terrible.
I hope that you are okay.
I am so glad that you enjoyed your cruise.
I want to go on another one NOW. But I will have to wait.:sad2:

Thank you, yes I am fine. To make everyone laugh today, since it appears that is what is needed....we tried vinegar at first and that didn't have any effect. So I got sprayed with Windex on the catamaran. It was a scene out of My Big Fat Greek Wedding. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My two addictions, Disney and Cruising. I am planning a mini trip to WDW for October and then a cruise next year.

I will try to post some pictures in the next couple of days.

Here are some pictures from my Explorer of the Seas cruise in August

This is in Bermuda at Horseshoe Bay

DId I mention that my cruise was filled Polygamist and Belly Dancers?
I'm also ashamed to admit that in the sci-fi group I was with there was a 6 ft 6 Air Force retiree who had head to toe lame leotards for every day of the cruise...We were there on oscar night and he showed up in a full length gold Lame one...He looked like an Oscar and people kept asking him to take his picture.
He actually had a tux, because he wore it too our filming one day,but then showed up the same night for formal night in full length red lame.

What cruise were you on that had belly dancers? The theme cruise I'm on in November is a Belly Dance Cruise (I'm a belly dancer and the organizer).

Jenny, How did you like the ports on the Mexican Riviera? (your pics are beautiful). DH wants to try it, he wants something different that the Caribbean for our 2009 Spring Break cruise. So right now, I have a deposit on Liberty of the Seas E. Caribbean and NCL Star Mexican Riviera. I plan to make a decision before flights open up for that time period.

We stopped in Alcapulco, Zihuanitjo/Ixtapa/Manzanillo

First we had purchased no shore excursions..The trip was a wedding gift and we just didn't have the time ,money, or knowledge to plan excursions..
Alcapulco..Dirty..People were very pushy.. There were areas that were beautiful though.. I think the problem with pushy people was the fact that we had nothing booked and were on our own..We would have liked it much more had we had something planned.

Zihuanitjo/Ixapa..This was our favorite stop..Lots of quant small shops, good food, less pushiness

Manzanilla was nice, but again with nothing planned we missed the good stuff..I hear it was beautiful. We had a great, inexpansive meal in a small hotels restaurant..

It was nice, but if I did Mexico again I would have excursions planned out

Cruising is the number one vacation choice for me. I've been on NCL and RCI. I just booked a New Years cruise on Voyager of the Seas out of Galveston.

My mom does that because her's is just basic black. I got mine from L.L. Bean and they are already bright so pretty easy to find.

The best thing I ever bought from LLBean was my luggage. I got the bright yellow duffle bag on wheels. It is so easy to spot and it's lasted for years. Whenever I need another one, I think I'm going to stick with the yellow.

No, I haven't but DH wants to take a cruise around Alaska. If you find the time, please report back on how it was and what excursions you did!

I've done two Alaskan cruises. Both were amazing. The first one was from Vancouver. The other one was a land/sea tour. We flew into Fairbanks and did the land portion first (Fairbanks, Denali National Park, Talkeetna, Girdwood, Anchorage) It was a combination of motorcoach and Alaska RR.

After that we started the cruise in Seward and ended up in Vancouver.

Some of the excursions I did from both cruises were:
*Dogsledding on Denver Glacier (Skagway) which includes a helicopter ride to the glacier
*Rafting (Denali)
*Taking the Whitepass RR train up the mountain and biking down in Skagway (with Sockeye Cycles) I actually did several biking excursions.
*Kayaking
*Canoeing
*We went hiking at the Alyeska resort in Girdwood that was listed as a "short hike" There were only two other families on the hike and the guide was really into it, so he took us a lot farther than we should have gone. I think he got into trouble because one of the families didn't want to go on and they turned back while the rest of us kept going.

Now that I think about it, I really want to go back. I would recommend an Alaskan cruise to anyone that would listen.

I'm on Cruise Critic too. Same name as here.

Well I am Jealous. I hope you have a great cruise. You will have to come back and tell us all about it.
Absolutely! I still cannot beleive that im going to Alaska!!

Sounds fabulous! This is on my list of things I want to do before I die.

I looked at that one for DD graduation trip next May. It's as much as sailing DCL. Hopefully after a bit the price will go down. The one I looked at was the 2nd one after getting to Port Canaveral.
When I heard the Freedom was moving to Port Canaveral I told DH we should check out the price. Everyone says Royal Caribbean is less expensive than Disney, but I just don't see it. The prices seemed about the same to me.

DH and I cruised on Carnival (Sensation, I think) in 1995, I really didn't care for it. We've also been on two Disney cruises and LOVED them. We have another one booked for November, but after that I'd like to try Royal Caribbean.

Someone asked about a balcony cabin earlier.

We had the perfect family cabin on the Mariner and this year on the freedom. It is a balcony with a connecting inside. There are I believe 4 of them on each ship. 2 on the 9th floor and 2 on the 10th? or maybe 8th? We are on 9. Both aft one on each side. They are less expensive as the connection is an inside but we get a balcony.

My cruise critic screen name is the same as here.

Its nice to see so many that love to cruise.
I really do love Disney but cruising is a love of mine to.
It is just 2 totally diffrent vacations and we are going to Disney in June and we were talking tonight about how we wished we were going on a cruise:guilty:

I know how that is. I want to go back to Disney World but being in Florida I know I would be thinking the whole time about going on a cruise. Oh well, I guess when we take our next Disney cruise (whenever that will be) we will get the best of both worlds.

I know that feeling..but this year, things actually worked out for me..im going on the cuirse in 3 weeks..then disney in july..so i get my 2 favorite vacations!

You will love the dogsledding.
We did a bike ride in Icy Strait Point. Our guide was a native girl that was in high school. She was really good at sharing "home" with us. She took us all around, answered questions and really gave us a good picture of what native life is all about.

I love cruising. My parents are huge cruisers and brought me up to it. They'll be taking something like their 30th cruise this year (they've got 2 planned...that I know of). I've only been on 5 previously. Unfortunately, my DH got seasick during out last voyage (his first) so I don't know if I'll be getting to do it again anytime soon.
