Cruising is the number one vacation choice for me. I've been on NCL and RCI. I just booked a New Years cruise on Voyager of the Seas out of Galveston.
My mom does that because her's is just basic black. I got mine from L.L. Bean and they are already bright so pretty easy to find.
The best thing I ever bought from LLBean was my luggage. I got the bright yellow duffle bag on wheels. It is so easy to spot and it's lasted for years. Whenever I need another one, I think I'm going to stick with the yellow.
No, I haven't but DH wants to take a cruise around Alaska. If you find the time, please report back on how it was and what excursions you did!
I've done two Alaskan cruises. Both were amazing. The first one was from Vancouver. The other one was a land/sea tour. We flew into Fairbanks and did the land portion first (Fairbanks, Denali National Park, Talkeetna, Girdwood, Anchorage) It was a combination of motorcoach and Alaska RR.
After that we started the cruise in Seward and ended up in Vancouver.
Some of the excursions I did from both cruises were:
*Dogsledding on Denver Glacier (Skagway) which includes a helicopter ride to the glacier
*Rafting (Denali)
*Taking the Whitepass RR train up the mountain and biking down in Skagway (with Sockeye Cycles) I actually did several biking excursions.
*Kayaking
*Canoeing
*We went hiking at the Alyeska resort in Girdwood that was listed as a "short hike" There were only two other families on the hike and the guide was really into it, so he took us a lot farther than we should have gone. I think he got into trouble because one of the families didn't want to go on and they turned back while the rest of us kept going.
Now that I think about it, I really want to go back. I would recommend an Alaskan cruise to anyone that would listen.
I'm on Cruise Critic too. Same name as here.
