Just wanted to let everyone know that we LOVED our stay at the AKL the last week of May!!!
The resort was absolutely beautiful. Check in was very quick, and even though it was 7 p.m., we got an upgrade to Savannah view!!! We didn't even ask. I had faxed our room request for a NS room close to the lobby and restaurants. We were on the Kudu Trail overlooking the Sunset savannah, second section, 3rd floor, just a short walk to the lobby. Giraffes right outside our balcony!! Also, the room was furnished tastefully and seemed in good shape. I loved the bathroom area set up as well as the enclosed closet area. The queen beds were nice, too! We are used to the moderates and I could definitely tell a difference in the rooms. Many have complained of the rooms being dark...I didn't find this to be the case. The room had several lights on the wall and a stand up lamp in the corner. We kept our curtains open during the day.
We had two meals at Boma...dinner and breakfast. Both were outstanding. The breakfast is the best I've had on any disney property. We never had a chance to eat at the Mara.
Our boys, 9 and 7, enjoyed the pool, although they were a bit disappointed at the slide after stays at HRH and CSR. Still, they were able to enjoy themselves. Also, the hot tub was great. My only complaint would be that the pool was crowded and people tend to take more chairs than necessary. Lots of them were empty except for a towel. My family usually just takes 2 chairs for the 4 of us...
Bus service was wonderful. We never had much of a wait for a bus. Also, the Zawadi (spell??) Marketplace was one of the nicest gift shops I've seen in a hotel...lots of nicer, upscale merchandise.
Overall, I'd give the resort a 9 out of 10. We will definitely stay there again if the price is right!

Some people just are "chair hogs"...the end!
I watched all of this from the pool b/c she dragged chairs from another area over by my chair (we too only had 2 chairs for the 4 of us) - thereby blocking a passageway.
ZipLoc bag but didn't (I store my sunscreen in it) - of course I never saw her again...Some people have that "whatever..." mentality and always will - they have no regard for rules. I also saw one family at WL "save" 5 or maybe 6 front-row chairs at WL by the slide and then never return. Pool attendants kept coming by and asking the people in nearby chairs but no one knew who was "sitting" there. I was there for at least 3 hours - next time, rather than stew, I will move the towels if I need a seat (or ask a pool attendants do it). Sorry to rant
