We loved QSDP!

We do not have small children with us on our vacations but I was under the impression that the adult/child credits had never been separated for the CS meals, just the TS. Might have something to do with the fact that when FD first started some folks, within the rules of the time, paid OP for their children's TS meals and saved the extra points for the 2 credit restaurants. :)

When paying OP I often order the children's meals as that is all I want to eat and there are some small children who want lots. Seems alright to me.

We did the regular dinning plan a couple years ago and were told the same thing about the CS meals when we booked the plan. My DD never eats like a child. She would die if she had to spend a week eating chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. When I booked the plan, I explained this to the cast member and ask if I could purchase her the adult plan although at her age she qualified for the kids. She explained to me that my DD would be able to get what ever she wanted at the CS places and that if I planned well, many of the best restaurants offered the same menu for adults and kids: Ohana, Boma, Whispering Canyon, Crystal Palace, Mickey's Hoop Dee Do Revue, etc. We stayed almost two weeks and I paid for two meals for each of us out of pocket and she ate exactly what she wanted at every meal.

I'm debating whether to add the DQSDP to our May trip. This thread has been great for making me think it's a good idea. My only question is...are there limits to what you can order? For example, I was looking at the WPE menu, and there are some very tasty sounding things there. Has anyone ever run into a situation where they were going to order something from the menu, and was told that it was not included? It might make for an awkward situation. Plus, I really don't want to pay out of pocket if I've already paid for the plan.

TIA

What is WPE menu ?
I am also pondering the QS plan as well. Problem is my 2 DD (16 & 12) eat like birds and usually only eat pizza and cheeseburgers and don't necessarily even finish it. So I am not sure it is worth it because of them.:confused3

With 12 days of DDP, the only thing that we ordered that we were told was not included was one of the lighted soda at Sci-Fi. Basically, it was a soda in an Sci-Fi cup and an ice-cube that lights up in different colors. I was not allowed to order that as my DD's drink. I had to pay out of pocket for it. I did hear a cast member telling someone in the gift shop at All Star Music that something she was wanting did not qualify as a snack.

We did the BDP on our last trip and ate lunch at WPE a couple of times, they were very nice and I was never told I couldn't get something that was on the menu, so as long as they are included in the QSDP you should be fine, if you have any ? just ask before you order they were always willing to answer any questions I had. Oh, and the food there was very good. Hope that helps.

They could always share meals, then you would get breakfasts too. I would price it out looking at what they would order and see if the QSDP saves any $$ or costs you. You may be better off paying OOP if they aren't going to use their credits.

Also, WPE is at Downtown Disney as well as Disney Quest, but I'm not sure of the proximity of their locations. If your girls like pizza, WPE has some great ones, as well as many other options. It is the best counter service in WDW IMHO!!!

:goodvibes
Hi All,

This is great! We just added the QSDP to our reservation and were not sure if it would be worth it.
It sounds like it is a really good deal. We (along with quite a few others I see) do not want to be tied to an ADR. We tried that a couple of years ago and ended up canceling them. This seems like a good option for us, who need to be more spontaneous.
Thanks everyone for the reviews; these help make the Disney experience great.
:flower3:

It was great for our family (me, DH, and DS5)! It was a lot of food, but it was so easy to not have to add up prices or worry about the money. I figured up our cost afterwards, and even if we had paid OOP and not gotten desserts, we would have at least broke even and possibly come out a little ahead by using the QSDP. SO, the desserts were a little freebie for us! And we absolutely loved the Tye Dye Cheesecake at POP!!! Also, the frozen yogurt with one topping at WGPE. Many others, but not enough time to list ;). Any questions, I will be happy to answer.

Thanks for the post! We are going in June for Star Wars Weekends and have decided to try the QSDP this trip. We have used the DD in the past and loved it, but hated to use touring time for a TS meal each day. I am glad to know that it was worth the cost!:thumbsup2

Even if I just break even I like having it paid for BEFORE I leave so I don't have to worry about including it in my budget.

So when we get our cards it will combine our QS credits - DH, mine and DD5 and DD8. I am fearful of my DD8 wanting something more than offerred on the kids meal, she is a big salad person.

I like that, too. In fact, that was the deciding factor for me. I was all for eating all meals OOP until dh brought up the point of it being prepaid. Less hassle and peace of mind. I'm ready!:thumbsup2

Each time you order a meal, you won't be able to order more than 2 adult meals or more than 2 kids meals. You can order less and share, though. That's the only way Disney has to make sure people use what they pay for. Your remaining QS meals as listed on your receipt will not be separated as child or adult. I think that's all I can say without getting in trouble.

They may have changed this since Dec 2007, but we went to WDW for 12 nights at that time. It was just me and my DD. We were given credit for 24 CS meals. We did not order even one kids meal from CS. I simply ordered what we wanted, handed her my card and no one asked me who the meals were for. We were told by a cast member before we went that this is what would happen and it was. The same cast member told me that my DD would have to order kids meals at the TS, but that many restaurants have the same menu for both adults and kids. With a little research, we ate only at those places. DD never once at a kids meal in 12 days. I paid out of pocket for two meals. We paid out of pocket at Sci Fi because she would have had to order a kids meal and then we paid out of pocket for another meal because we did Mickeys Hoop Dee Do Revue and it used two TS credits. I am assuming that this is not cheating the system since the cast member who added the DDP to my existing reservation was the one who told me how to plan to avoid my DD having to eat kids meals for two weeks.

WARNING!

Not all WGP's are equal. There are two in DTD. One is over in Marketplace and one is over at the West End, near the movie theater. The best one is the one near the movie theater. We mistaken went into the other one last trip and it was sooo disappointing. They had a few of the same items, but not the soup nor the Macadamia chicken, it was crowded, noisy and we never did get our desserts and finally just gave up and left. I was told that they were owned by two different entities.

The food might be better at the one at the West End because it is one of three restaurants in the building, all Puck's. One is upstairs and is upscale and not on the DP's at all, the sit down one which takes the DP with TS meals, and then the CS one. That one has no inside seating but if the weather is good there is a nice place just outside. You place your order and they give you your cups, you get your drinks, silverware (real) and napkins along with your number and go sit down. When the food is ready they will bring it to you.

Just wanted you all to know the difference because if you go to the wrong one you will wonder what some of us are praising.

See, all people's tastes are different, we prefered the WPE in the Marketplace (by Earl of Sandwich). Both were very good though. Everyone is different...

MickeyMomOfThree, I would take great umbrage at your disagreement with me EXCEPT that means one less contender for the Butternut Squash Soup and that is a good thing!:rotfl:

Yep, everyone is different but a few of us, think ME, are VERY different. :dance3:

Notice that you are a Sports fan too. My favorite view is that of the trash cans. Bet you know why.

Are BOTH WGPs on the Quick Service DDP ?? I have never done any DDP before so this is a first for us. We were planning on going to WGP (same thing as WPE?) when we do DisneyQuest. Is it far from there?
