We love Budget - are we nuts?

For the past few vacations, we have always found Budget to have the best prices. I just booked a Minivan for a week in October using their internet special for $220.00 plus tax. I called the actual location at the Doubletree hotel and they claim they will pick me up at OKW to pick up the car and drop me off at Seaworld when we are finished with the car. Sounds almost as simple as National, but I couldn't get anywhere near the price at National. Am I missing something you all know about Budget?

I usually use Budget. I've always had great service, clean cars, and good prices. I have a base rate of $198 for 10 nights in September. No other company has been able to come even CLOSE to that rate yet - even with specials and sales.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! :)

Nice rate, but, for what size? Budget is a great company, but, I don' t like Fords. ;(

In Sept for 10 days my base for a full size at Alamo is 168.40 total
224.48.

For National same time frame, base rate 209.48 total 250.15.

I did reduce the base rates with the coupons.

This is for a Minivan. I am not exactly a fan of Ford either - I just cannot come close with any other company.

Mini vans tend to run high, you rate is very good. I was asking Snacky what the vehicle was.

I believe it's an intermediate.....and according to the reservation, it'll be an Olds Alero.

I thought they used Fords too, but that's what my reservation says.

I don't have my reservation, but I think it's an intermediate.

I tried tons of different codes with different companies from Mousesavers and that was the best I could do.

I'm now just waiting for last minute specials. Hoping to get an SUV. :)

EDIT: I'm at home now, looking at my reservation and I have a Pontiac Grand AM, which is an intermediate, for a base rate of 196.84. I also have an Alamo reservation for an intermediate for a base rate of $207. And it's with ALAMO that I have an Olds Alero.

I wonder why yours is higher overall? I have a full size for just a few dollars more than you for 10 days.

I am not a Ford fan either, but since I use Priceline, I have to take what I get. I don't really mind Tauruses, and I was really thrilled when Budget upgraded us from economy to a Ford Escape last weekend. But I was amazed at what a gas hog it was compared to my Pontiac Aztek! Oh well, I won't complain about a free upgrade. ;)
We've gotten Budget several times now, and the line hasn't been too bad plus they're not pushy about the insurance. Overall their cars seem to be more dinged up than other companies and have higher mileage, but I don't care as long as they're cheap and run okay.

We have used Budget 3 times. We have received a Mercury, Ford, and a Chev. Impala. The only complaint I have is they tried to charge us months later for damage on the car that was not noted or even there when we turned the car in. This happened twice with two different locations and it was not a small amount (several thousand $). We sent a letter stating that there was no damage when we turned the car in and never heard from them again.
