I don't fly any more so the wife and I take Amtrak from northeast Ohio to Kissimmee. That's from Alliance to Washington then on to Kissimmee. We love it, it is a long trip but very relaxing and fairly cheap. We've done coach the whole way and some sleeper accommodations for half the route, sleepers will run the cost up considerably. We pack a lunch with drinks, snacks books, Ipods, portable DVD player and just sit back, reclining seats are very comfortable, alot of room in a pair and relax. We detrain in Kissimmee, next stop after Orlando, alot less congestion, most everyone gets off in Orlando and it's total chaos getting luggage and securing a ride, same with returning home, everyone standing out in the hot sun waiting to board. Kissimmee has 10 people getting off and about the same going home, you get right on and are away in minutes. There are taxi's there, 5 years ago the fare from Kissimmee to WDw ran 38 bucks, I'm sure the fares have gone up. We use a car service, they are waiting for us even if the train is late, and they do run late, and they give us a 30 minute grocery stop, we love it, alcohol store next door to Publix and January trip ran us 120.00 round trip, very personalized service.
Train travel is not for the control freak or fidgety soul, it can be boring to them. There's a club car and dining car and we're in route for 39 hours start to finish, 6 hour lay over in Washington, but we board at 3 am, are in DC around 4 pm, layover and out around 9pm and traveling all night we're in Kissimmee by 1:30 pm. We have no gripes, runs the both of us, round trip about 450.00.
