I can't beleive it!! last week the stomach bug went through our house!!! Now she is getting a cold!!! I am FREAKING OUT!!!

Ok.. stay calm.. I gave her some cold meds.. We'll rest today.. It will be Ok... RIGHT?!!!

I need some reassurance everyone! :wizard:

Sarahsmom! Yikes! I feel your pain! I'm feeling sick myself and we leave tomorrow too!

It's awful! But I guess at least we'll be on vacation. If it gets that bad you can just shorten your time in the parks and cozy up in the hotel room! If I'd have known I was going to be sick, I'd probably have invested in a moderate or deluxe, so I was in a bit more comfort... then again if I'd have KNOWN I was going to be sick, I'd have planned to travel at a different time!

Hope it's just a small, passing cold and that she feels loads better tomorrow!

I think even if it's just a cold I would get her in to see the DR today. He can check her ears and maybe recomend an antihistimine if you are flying. That way also he has seen her just this week if she would develop an post secondary infection at WDW and might would call her something in. Push those fluids and get lots of rest.

prayers sent your way.

I had to see my doc last week.. While we were there Iasked about an anithistamine and she gave me suggestions... (She see's the kids when our Ped. is out).. DD's doc will be a WDW this week too!

Sending some pixie dust your way. I think getting out of the winter weather and into FL makes us all feel better! Hope it works for your DD.

I agree! I see snowflakes out my window!!! Can't wait to get out of here! :sunny: :sunny: :wizard: :wizard: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :wizard: :wizard:

I don't want to rain on your parade, but my ds2 came down with the cold early last week and he is still fighting it. Very raspy cough, runny nose, miserable. All I can say is bring alot of tissues and meds. He seems happy enough during the day, but having a lot of trouble sleeping no matter what meds I give him (which means mom or dad isn't sleeping either :sad2: ). My nephew is just recovering from the same virus and it has taken a couple of weeks. I'm sure the weather in VT hasn't helped. I will send pixie dust your way.

yay.... Well maybe we just need some FL SUN!!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

We just got over the 2-3 week cough, runny nose, yuck, virus too. The good news is the kids both seemed to hold up pretty well by day. Just the nights we horrible and when they first woke up, cough was horrible and lost their voice, which could be a good thing on the plane. Good luck, I wish you the best.

Hi,

When you go to the pediatrician find out if your DS can take the cold-eez cough drops. I know for a fact that they help. My daughter kept getting sick last winter so I did alot of online research and discovered that zinc that is absorbed through saliva ( sucking on a cold-eez basically ) will shorten the length of a cold by about half. My little girl was only one at the time so I didn't give her any but I ended up taking them whenever I got sick. Usually two other family members would be sick with the same thing and I was always the one better first. By several days! So it's worth a try. What I did give her was alot of the Gerber crackers, etc. that have zinc. I don't know if they worked or not. Anyway, good luck I feel bad for you. It's always the way isn't it? We always get sick before our most special vacations! :(

I'm with you. Look for my thread on the DVC Community Board titled "Pity Party..." My doctor, along with everyone else I've talked to, said the Florida sunshine and "Happiest Place on Earth" would do us all a world of good.

Hang in there. All will be well. And unless it's the stomach virus again, I say go! FYI...we were talked into traveling with the stomach virus one year by our family at Christmas. Big mistake! Horrible on all of us, and we left a lot of sick people in our wake. Guess they had it coming, encouraging us to drive 16 hours sick as dogs :rotfl:

Nope not the stomach bug.. Seems like a head cold!!! Come on SUN!!! Work your MAGIC!!! :sunny:

Yes everything will be sunshine. It never fails, everytime its time to head down to Disney someone gets a cold.My DD12 and DH had one this time. He was soooo glad that there was kleenex handy and we ended up, picking up American medicine.Somthing different then Canadian. What realy did it was PLENTY OF SUNSHINE COMING MY WAY.................

I didn't notice how old she was but my doctor swears by cold eeze lozenges(cherry is the best) have her suck them as often as the pkg. allows for her age and weight and zicam-cold remedy, it's like a gel nose drop/spray . There are different types for different symptoms. But evedently there have been studies on both of these products that if you start them and continue them as directed they will shorten the length of the cold and the severity. Zicam can be used if at least 3 years old. Can be found in most drug stores or walmarts, but not in WDW, I looked, so I always take my own. Never know when you might need it. Good luck!!
