So we call our Rep tomorrow to give the down payment. We have AKV for 160, plus points to use at Saratoga. i'm still very confused about how this all works. Any advice would be great! Also, we plan on going to saratoga in June with our extra points. So we keep our other 160? Can't wait till I understand this thing!!!

Congratulations. The 160 points for use at SSR are called Developer Points. They are an incentive to use until you are able to book at AKV. You must use these developer points within a year. They offer these points to use at SSR because it is such a large resort that they often have accomodations available. And yes, you then have use of your 160 AKV points also.

you get the developer's points since AK won't be ready until may (and you can't use your 2008 UY points anywhere else, even within the 7 month booking window until May). you can use the developer's points at any time within 1 year from going to contract, but you can only book 7 months out...so if you plan on using them for your June vacation, you can book your trip starting 7 months out--in November. you will also have your 2008 UY points...do if your UY is December (which most of the AKV contracts they are selling right now are), you can use them until December 2009, or bank them into your 2009 UY.

Yes, you would have two years of points that would need to be used ny December 2010. You could do whatever you wanted with them. You could book multiple vacations, go into a bigger room (and invite family/friends), etc.

For us (we bought in the beginning of September), we plan to use our Developer points in 2009. Bank our December 2008 points into the next use year (December 2009 - November 2010) and the borrow a few points from the next use year after (December 2010 - November 2011) and rent a few rooms and bring the whole family down. Right now we are thinking of getting two 2 bedrooms, but this may change to another combination of a 2 bedroom and something else.

Congrats...Any questions ask away! I found it really helpful reading other posts and learning specifics that way as well!

By the way, our AKV contract allows us to use Developer Points in one of 3 ways..You can use Developer Points at any of the 3 Disneyland Resorts or at SSR..Bookings can only be made 7 mos in advance and those developer points must be USED WITHIN 1 YR FROM DATE OF CONTRACT..

The other option for Developer Points gives you an additional year through Interval International, II.....As long as a search for a match is initiated within 1 yr from date of contract, you are given an additional yr to use the points through Interval International..

Good Luck with your decision..Its a big one..I know when we gave our credit card info it was very scary! Remember, though, there is a buyer remorse period just in case it doesn't pan out or "feel right"...You can get complete refund within 10 days from date of signing the contract.

i didn't know about the buyer remorse period. Good Info! I just told my DH to call our Rep by noon if he hasn't called us first. As much as we go to Disney this should be a good fit. i think SSR in June is a good start for us. we also are in SC, so maybe a long weekend in Hilton Head after that? i guess if anything, there are tooooo many choices right now and i want to spend the points wisely! I need to learn more so i can ask the right questions. Time to surf the threads!

We haven't decided yet. I would like to go again later in the year, but dh wants to bank the remaining points to give us extra points to use in 2010. We're hopefully getting a 2 bedroom in June because we're taking our daughter's boyfriend with us. What are you going to do with your extra points?

i want to bank them also. Now, didn't they give us 2008 points also? how long can we bank those? DH says 1 year, I say 2?

We got December use year. We'll get points for 2008 and bank whatever is left over from our 06/09 trip and use them in 2010 along w/ 2009 points. I guess that's how it works. There is so much to learn.

Our rep said we have the developer points & 2008 points. he said we can bank the 2008 points till 2010. But we will then have 2009 points? we will use the developer points in June at SSR, but should we go ahead and book a bigger room and use up the 2008 points? Or bank them? AHHHHHH to much to learn!!
