It was a very short trip of only 4 days! I wish we had more time or were still there!! I miss it already!! We stayed at CSR for the first time Aug. 1-4. My sister and her family met us there as well.

My first impressions of CSR~

It's a beautiful resort with a great pool and slide. We had requested Cabanas 8A on our reservation but did not fax a request. We got Cabanas 9B. It was a great location on the first floor facing the Dig Site. It took a little finagling to get this room as we were still trying for bldg 8A and they first had only a second floor room on the other side of 9B available for us. In the end I was happy!

It took quite awhile to check in (due to the finagling ;) ). My sister's room however was not ready and still wasn't available at 5pm when we left for our dinner reservations. We got there at 11am. She didn't end up getting in until almost midnight that night! This was a little disconcerting and put a slight damper on our first impressions.

We liked the resort well enough but still prefer the deluxes. We haven't stayed in a moderate since '98. All in all, we concluded that we like it better than CBR but not as much as POFQ (haven't been to Riverside yet). It is a bit more spread out than we like but our particular location didn't hinder us at all in that respect. We stuck mainly to the Cabanas area with the Dig Site and the restaurants being so close, you couldn't ask for a more convenient locale.

One thing that really irked me was the golf carts that zip around the property with people and/or luggage. I've seen these at the Poly too but the drivers here are a menace! They go very fast and come right up behind you and BEEP! Very annoying and dangerous I would think!

So despite a few minor disturbances, we enjoyed our stay here very much and would probably return.... once we've completed the circuit, of course!:p

I'll try to answer any questions you may have and I'll be putting up a trip report within the next few days. Thanks to everyone who contributed so much to make this another wonderful experience!

Welcome Back :)
How long was your walk from your room to El Centro?
I'm thinking of faxing asking for a room close to El Centro...which would basically mean Casitas or Cabanas.

epcotfan - We were very close to El Centro. It was about a two minute walk, if that. We held a bus that said it would leave in 10 seconds while dh went back to the room for film, if that helps to estimate!;)

We were about half way down the 9B bldg. Casitas are probably closer to the restaurants as we were near the lobby end and teh restaurants area at the other but still very close. I was disappointed at first not to be a stone's throw away from the Dig Site but in the end it worked to our advantage as we had breakfast reservations at Maya Grill and the character caravan stopped at our bus stop#1.
