We were originally staying at POR from 6/22-6/30 and then I read about the new rates for travel after 6/23. I booked us a room at the GF from 6/23-7/1 it is still 8 nights but obviously the resort is an upgrade. There are 5 of us, me, DH, dd's 8 and 4 and ds 7. With the discount we got a garden view for $299 a night this seemed pretty good for the GF. Now I am wondering if the extra money is worth it. It is our first trip to Disney and I thought that we might get crowded at the POR for 8 nights. Please let me know about the GF and whether this is a good price. Thanks,Nancy

You may even find a better rate if you check Mousesavers.com.
GF is a beautiful resort. I don't know too much about the rooms, etc. having never stayed here. Value season starts 7/4 which would bring your room down even more if you were flexible. Have a nice trip!

Like Donnamerry said, you may find a better rate, even still. SO keep your eyes open. I think that the GF is a beautiful resort, as is POR. However, you have to remember the GF is a Deluxe Resort. You will enjoy yourself no matter where you stay.

We stayed at POR 3 times on our trips to WDW. We never really felt crowded and I have always visited from May-August!

If you're willing to spend the extra $, the GF is absolutely beautiful! The rooms are gorgeous and the resort is luxurious.
Nice to have the sandy beach, watersports and be so close to the MK. Have a great time!!!

Hi, hard to say if it is a good rate. I know the other deluxes often go for much lower.

One word of warning. We stayed at the Poly for our first trip, as all the moderates and all stars were booked up when we first started looking. But, afterwards, we found it difficult to stay in one of the lower priced resorts and only did it once. It can make trips much more expensive!

At mousesavers.com there is a code (CGK) for Grand Floridian, garden view, $229 a night. Try code CEP for the same type discount. You will love the GF, it is beautiful!! We have not stayed there yet, but we have been there many times. My husbands best friend and his wife stay there every year. We have all gone the same time and visited them at their Resort. I have seen a corner room which is larger than most standard rooms. They are wonderful!! I would call back and see if you can get the code rate.

For the time you are going, yes it is a good rate. If you check-in July 4 or after, it is $229/night.

The Grand is definetly worth $299/night! :) Have fun!

Thanks all for your input. We need to check in on the 23rd because we are driving from NJ and my older 2 children have scout camp starting 7/8. So we will stick with the $299. This is our first trip to Disney and we don't anticipate going back soon so we might as well stay at the GF!!! Now if I can just get my PS for Cindy's this week we'll be all set !!!

Well just a little warning!

You say you don't anticipate going back soon but you may find that once you go all you can do is start planning when you can return.
We went last may for the first time as a family and the day we left I was dreaming of when we could go back. I really couldn't stop it and from reading these posts I found I was not alone. It just may happen to you. It is a wonderful place and you will Love it no matter where you stay. I am dreaming of when we can stay at GF! You are so lucky!

Have a great trip!:)

Wow, what a way to do your first trip. I've only stayed at the GF once, and have stayed at CBR, POR, the old Dixie landings, and All star sports. You're going to be thrilled, just pulling up to the main entrance makes you feel like a million! You can't beat the monorail for easy transportation, and being able to see the castle, other resorts, water parade, etc. makes you feel Disney Magic continuously. Have a great time!

Well, the rate is about $200 more per night than the rates at the moderates. What about resort hopping? If you stay 4 days at each, you would be able to save $800 - or I should say you will have $800 more to spend on things. $299 per night for the Grand Floridian is a good price for the time you are going, and it is a fantastic resort. Only you can decide if it's worth the extra dollars though. Either resort is a good place to be.

We have never stayed at the GF, but visit every trip. I would be to scared that once I stayed there, I wouldn't be happy anywhere else....so we are trying all of the others 1st!
