Yesterday our family grew. We brought 9-week-old Nala home with us. She's a beautiful yellow Labrador Retriever and we love her already! DS named her...he said that he wanted her to have a "Disney" name.

Congratulations on your new lab puppy. My yellow lab is now 3 years old and he’s an incredible dog. We named him Gus Gus after the mouse in Cinderella. But of course we only call him Gus. Below is Gus in his swimming pool. He adores water and spends most of his summer just sitting in his little pool.

She is beautiful!! :lovestruc I love labs-I had one for 13 years. I have a 15 week old Newfoundland now but I will always have a soft spot for labs.

May Nala and your family enjoy many healthy and happy years together. Enjoy the puppy time--it passes so quickly.

All I can say is, "Lord, help you"!;)

It's a good thing they are so darn cute. It's easier to forgive them when they start destroying your house!:rotfl: And let's not get into the constant shedding...comparable to tumbleweed!

Seriously, they are alot of work but Labs have such a trustworthy temperament! I never have to worry about my grandkids around our Lab!

Enjoy your new baby and take lots of pictures and videos while she is young. They are so much fun to look back on when she is grown!:goodvibes

(And do crate her when you cannot watch her or when leaving the house. It is for her own good and protection!)

We've had our lab for 9 years and while she does shed, I could count on my left hand how many things she's destroyed in that time (probably less than 3, but I'll go 5 to be safe). She never even gnawed on the wooden chair or table legs.

I had a golden once who chewed up my kitchen and bathroom floors among MANY other things. Don't ask me how, but she did it. She was a handful for us because we worked a lot in those days and BIL asked if he could have her. She then went to his house and chewed up his sofa. :happytv:

I think the key to these types of dogs is to not leave them alone much during that first year. Someone is usually at home and has been regularly since we got our lab. I'm convinced that's why she's the way she is. I wouldn't part with her if my life depended on it. She's the best dog I've ever had and one of the best I've ever seen in my lifetime.

You have an adorable pup there OP, Congrats.

Your new baby is adorable. :goodvibes

Our black Lab just had his first birthday. He is absolutely the sweetest and most devoted dog you could ever find. He's very obedient, and his favorite thing to do is sit on your foot. ::yes::

Gus Gus was our choice for a name if the Lab that we picked was a boy:yay:!
