We're north of NYC. In fact, last weekend, we found gas in mid-town was cheaper than here.

Ummm...OUCH! Ours is still $3.89. It's just awful and we're traveling everywhere by car this year. A trip next wknd to IN for FIL's funeral; a week in ME and a week in NC. At this rate if it weren't for all the stuff we need to take it would be cheaper to fly.

Of course it will be high, we are moving from Virginia to Texas this summer :headache: For two cars, its gonna hurt:scared1:

I saw gas for $4.39-4.43 for super in Queens the other day.

Now, "they" are saying the prices are going to level out and start to go down again.

Around here you need a score card to keep track of the prices.

Monday am - 3.95

by 2 pm Monday - 4.17

by 5 pm Tuesday - 4.09 in some places, while others were still up at the 4.17.

Today, along the 5 mile shot I do on 1 road, passing 22 gas stations, it went up and down between the 4.17 and the 4.09. Some stations directly across from each other were the 2 different prices.

And yea, DH was listening to the radio yesterday and they said not to be at all suprised to see the $6.00 a gallon to be on the coasts by early summer, with the midwest seeing those prices around the mid part of summer.

:scared1: I think we're still at $4.09/gallon here on Long Island (if it hasn't gone up yet).

If something isn't done soon this is going to be a death punch to the people holding on and keeping the economy going. This is not sustainable and is siphoning off all the wealth slowly accumulating. This is not by chance, there is no doubt in my mind it is warfare on the economic plane and anyone who can't see it is either completely blind... or lying. Both possibilities are equally dangerous.

A little over 2 years ago when the collapse started I called it and everyone said noooo. Is there anyone left who still doubts the significance of having a stranglehold over our fuel supply?

I heard yesterday that ours was going up to $3.99. I saw it one place in a city 10 miles away. Ours is still $3.72 here. We went to Myrtle Beach last month, I was afraid with the price of gas but it didn't turn out to be much more than normal. We did however, change the location of our weekend trip Memorial Day. Was going to Gatlinburg, now just going to Hocking Hills here in Ohio.

I'm an hour or so north of NYC and we are at $4.25 I htink for regular unleaded. DH filled his car for $86 the other day!:scared1::faint:

Now I finally appreciate my short commute!! I live 2 miles from my job and it saves a fortune. I feel for my employees, both live at least 30 miles away and have to drive IN traffic. I've done that before and it's a nightmare.

This is getting ridiculous, something needs to be done.

Well, in 2008, the last time it was sky high, *something* was done--the stock market crashed and the oil prices went down with it. I'd really rather THAT not happen again.

I've read numerous reports that the cause is the weak dollar right now and barrels are priced worldwide using the US dollar. Doesn't seem like any quick fix is coming.

I doubt it's still $4.09 anywhere on LI! Be prepared for the shock next time you need gas! It went from $4.09, then $4.17 the next day. AND it's $4.27 for regular if you use a credit card at my BP station. I never took notice of a price difference before.

The dollar has been much weaker quite a few years ago for quite a while. I do some gaming with a UK/Euro based game and way back between 2005-2007, the US dollar was less than 0.50 GBP and Euro. Today it is 0.67 euro and 0.60 GBP. It has been this since the "big crash" so I don't believe the "it's because of the weak dollar right now" stuff. The US dollar is stronger now than back when we had less than or near $2/gallon gas.

Believe it or not, it's still $4.09 as of yesterday (I'm in Suffolk County). This morning I passed a BP and it was $4.07.

I have a 1/2 a tank right now, so I'm good for another few days. But watch, right when I need to fill up is when the price will increase :headache:

I would fill up now before it goes up.
