Just a follow up question also, did you make your requests on your reservation or did you go through the special services department? I believe they are the only ones who can guarantee and block a specific room or location. Any requests made through CRO are simply that, requests and not guaranteed.

How was your cleaning request handled at the hotels you stopped at during your drive?

How do you contact Special Services? We're going 9/27-10/4 and have a unique situation we'd like addressed. Thanks!

Thank you Mickman and Lindsay. I am sorry the OP did not enjoy their trip, but as I stated in my earlier post we all have to take responsiblity to our own comfort and stop blaming Disney for everything.

As stated if you have trouble walking to the food court, you are going to be miserable trying to do to the parks, same with allergies. If cutting trees bothers someone, then forget Animal Kingdom.

As to peace and quiet, I figure most hotels try to keep the noise down between 7am and 10pm, anything after that is a unrealistic. You will always have noise, whether it's ground crews, maids, or other guests.

Mickman, STANDING OVATION!!!!!! Great post!! I am a paraplegic and use a wheelchair full-time. I don't care how close/far my room is from the lobby and foodcourt. If I had troubles walking, heehee which I obviously don't, I would rent a scooter or a chair. Problem solved.

Also, you made a great point I have to comment about. A ton of people complain about how spread out a resort is, how far it is from the food court, etc. Why are they complaining when they are spending hours and hours walking around WDW???? I don't understand this reasoning. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

After being on ones feet for a good amount of time, it can be pretty painful to have to walk long distances once they're done.

I have pretty bad feet and ankle problems, but not severe enough to warrant a scooter or wheelchair (pride plays a part in this too). I tried to really watch how much time I spent on my feet in the parks and only did half days there. So, if you'd see me up and walking about at 8 in the morning, you'd never know how bad I'd feel by noon. I was in pure agony when we returned to the resort and had to walk 10 miles to get to my room at AKL. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I'd have been happy to have at least one of my feet amputated at that point. I was living on pain killers our 10 days there, but hey, we were at Disney!

At any rate, I don't think it's fair to judge someone until you've walked a mile in their very painful shoes. I don't think many people realize exactly how immense this place is, especially on their first trip. Even with all the research I did, I couldn't comprehend it.

There is such a lack of empathy on these boards sometimes. There are some people who feel that lately Disney does not deliver on some things that they should deliver on. Namely, customer service and comfort. It doesn't seem to be as high on the priority list as it was in years past. And sometimes people on these boards experience that lack of service first hand. I feel badly for one whose anticipated vacation was less then magical. If the OP felt her vacation was lacking in any way, then she should express her feelings and let Disney know too.

I recently returned from a magical vacation myself where we stayed at the BWI and then we tried CSR for the first time. The first room we got at CSR was not to my liking. I called the front desk immediately and let them know how I felt. I knew I would not be happy in that room and I told them so along with the reasons why. Basically after I told them I was not happy, they changed me to a lovely room in Cabanas 8A. I don't know what I would have done if the resort was full. Not having a nice room and location can dampen your trip.

My point is that lately people are so quick to jump to Disney's defense and turn the situation around on the OP instead of thinking, well maybe with feedback both positive and negative, Disney will improve. There's always room for improvement. :flower:

Well said.

Well said.

I'll be the first one to say that Disney has had some customer service issues over the years. I've been going since it opened. But c'mon this original post is ridiculous as are many other visitor requests.

k5thbeatle,The OP had complaints about her stay. Her complaints may or may not sound legitimate to members of this forum, but why are we debating how legitimate her complaints are when we know that Disney wants feedback. If your stay was not satisfactory they want to know why. Have you ever filled out one of those online surveys when you returned from a trip? They want to know both the positive and negative.

Another thing, you said the original post was ridiculous. How does that help? That's hurtful.

Well, I'll let you borrow my crystal ball after WDW is through with it, because apparently they need it so that they will be able to know who, out of all their thousands of hotel rooms on property, is sick in bed and needs absolute peace and quiet.

Well Said!! With thousands of people visiting WDW everyday it would be IMPOSSIBLE to grant everyones requests. One guest may need the room specially cleaned while the guest next door may be sensitive to the cleaning products being used. When you have a sick child at home you can't expect the neighbors to stop doing their yard work so your child can sleep. I know Disney wants everyone to have a "Magical vacation" but we have to remember that Disney is not actually magic, it is a business that has daily tasks to do to keep operating. I am sure that they try to keep their guests as happy as possible, but it is impossible to please everyone all the time.

I had to reply to this post.

I just got back from 10 days at Coronado Springs. I did have a few issues while I was there but I don't understand the OP's complaints. If you have someone who is even partially disabled why didn't you ask for a Handicapped room? Did you have your Travel Agent fax the manager about your requests when you made your reservation so it would be in writing, just in case when you arrive and they put you somewhere you don't want to be you can say, do you have the fax?

Since this seems to be such a big issue for the OP due to her child's allergies (which are a terrible thing I totally understand) but while we stayed at Coronado they were Power water washing our section for like 5 days and it smelled like bleach as soon as you walked out. Was it a pain yes, but we dealt with it.

I am not defending Disney because I had a few issues with Coronado as well but I went down before I left and spoke with one of the managers and told them how I felt and he asked me to fill out a form to let him know what they could do to make it better. I didn't yell or get excited because that only makes things worse.

I am glad that the OP did have a good time overall and I hope she can find another onsite hotel to suit her families needs for the next trip

I would have asked to be moved. I cant stand the smell of bleach. It feels like my lungs are being compressed and I cant breath. Dh uses it to clean the drains but I leave the house when he does and he has to air out the house. He even stores it in the garage.

Nobody likes the smell of bleach.

My DH does!!! But he's a whole different story all together :rotfl: . Anyway....whether or not we think someone else's complaints are valid or not isn't the issue. I may be more relaxed and easy going and not care so much about the same things that will really bother someone else. It's very individual. I really can't see why some people get in a twist because of someone else's 'opinions'. They are just that...opinions. Do I think that WDW CS is going downhill? Yes, in some cases. I think they have gotten somewhat complacent. But, on the other hand, I have had some very magical dealings with WDW staff at many different levels in the recent past. So, if you are unhappy about something, let your concerns be known in a respectfull way. If you don't get any results or are treated badly, then go further up the 'ladder' so to speak. I have responded to those surveys many times. In most cases I was very complimentary. But on one or two occasions I did receive an email asking for more details regarding a 'less then magical' experience or two!!!

But I will go on record, as I have in the past, as stating that POR is one of my favorite resorts. I own DVC at BWV and still like to squeeze in a few nights at POR whenever I get the chance.

I should have clarified my "bleach cleaning" with that when we left for the parks, say around 930/ 1000am it when they started so we were at the parks all day but in the morning there was a smell but it wasn't a big deal. If someone is allergic then yes you should be moved, but they did it all over the resort that is how they keep everything so spotless.

When I spoke with the manager though I did tell him that I love this resort and will definatly come back. Our Mousekeeper was amazing and our bellhop. Literally helped us unpack and told us of all the new goings on in Disney. My parents had not visited in 8 years. I wanted to let him know the good things that happened and how we were helped.

The small issue that I had I mentioned to him before I left and that is when he asked me to fill out the survey and I might get an email once I am home.

Sometimes when we do get a "Magical Experience" we should let someone higher up know.

When something goes wrong everyone knows but when something is magical you keep it to yourself.

I totally agree with this post. :)

The power supply on my computer went, so I haven't been able to reply. Hmmm..where to begin....
Firstly, I think the comments Mickman,1962 & k5thbeatle were insensitive and rude.

For the record...the disabled women's son was also confined to wheelchair and died last year at the age of 31 from muscular dystrophy. She spent 31 years taking care of him and he never spent one day in the hosptal, he even died at home. She's 54 years old and hadn't even gone a vacation longer than 3 days until after he had passed away. She's had a serious heart condition for several years. This trip almost had to be postponed due to her heart condtion. She wanted to be able to go see Disney and enjoy it with our young children. Her other daughter (who travelled with us) is also paralyzed on her entire left side so while yes they can go to the park and walk, they also stop and rest very frequently. They don't want to use the scooter or wheelchairs because they figure someone worse off than they are may need them. I'm sure being closer to the food court and pool (to watch our kids playing together at Ol'Man's Island) would have made it more enjoyable.

As far as the tree triming is concerned, yes I know they have to do it sometime, it was just one other little thing that added up. After the room being occuped, being placed in the furthest bldg, a layer of dust in the room, then the tree trimming started.

I also don't expect Disney to use a 'Crystal Ball' to know when someone will be sick and require total peace and quiet all the time. But I also think maybe they didn't have to do the same area every day. At least rotate the noisy stuff. But I'm not a landscaper so maybe that's not possible.

We actually didn't know about my dd's allergies until she had a serious allergic reaction about 10 days before we left. Didn't know what else might set it off.

We couldn't stay at another moderate becuase we had 5 in our family.

I think someone implied my expectations were too high? I thought I had stated in my previous post, I have stayed on site two other times so I don't think my expectations were too high. I had very enjoyable stays. This one was too. I just won't stay at POR again.

I also *thought* this was a forum to post both positive and negative points of view. This was just my experience. Maybe I caught them on an off week who knows? It could have been alot worse..at least there weren't any bedbugs:)

I was someone who thought that you should have been moved to another moderate, but I based my remark on how I interpreted your group. I thought you had 1 room, consisting of your aunt, uncle and cousin (=3), with a 2nd room for yourself, DH, DD9, DD9, D?2 (=4). As you have one child under the age of 3, I didn't think they counted towards the room occupancy total.

Yes 2yo dd wouldn't have counted, but she won't sleep in one of those pack and plays so we really used the trundle bed each night. The kids stayed w/us at night..esp after one of dd's got sick:(. So if they had moved us to a moderate w/4 it would have been dh, 1 9yo dd, and the baby in one bed. That would have been too tight a squeeze. I was in the sick bed keeping an eye on the fever. We stayed 2 nights longer than my Aunt also.
