We got a Westie!

We finally got our puppy. Her name is Lilo, and she is a Westie. This is our first dog together and we are so excited! (other than the puppy that passed away before we got him home).
She was our wedding present to each other.
We have had her for a few weeks, and we have finally adjusted to less sleep. Now I just have to figure out what to do when I go back to work in a couple weeks, I hate to leave her home alone for 8 hours. Hopefully we'll figure it out!

She's so cute! My mom has a Westie (who isn't the best behaved doggie in the world, but she's very cute). They're feisty little dogs.

She is a cutie! The sleep will get easier! Our puppy has been sleeping through the night for about a month now...granted it is RIGHT next to me, but I guess it's better than nothing!

I am so jealous!! I've been wanting a Westie for about a year now! I was actually just looking on the internet for puppies before coming over to the CB. How funny! She is a cutie!! From everything I've read on them, train them while they're small and they'll be much easier to live with. lol Congrats on your new puppy. Can't wait to get one myself.

We have a Westie! He is the best dog I have ever known & is so much fun. He just turned 2 years old, so all of the training processes are behind us, but really it wasn't too difficult. He sleeps in the bed with DH and I and we laugh because he is the only dog I've ever seen who likes to "sleep in". Very playful when you want to play, but not hyper. Quite the cuddler. You've picked a great breed & your new puppy is adorable!

Best of luck with Lilo! I see in the picture that you are crate-training, that is the best thing for her and you. I also recommend getting a teen or petsitter to come in at least once while you are working to let Lilo out and give her some playtime- 8-9 hours is a long time for a baby to go without any interaction (not to mention the chance to pee!).
Westies can be very independant (read stubborn ) and difficult to housebreak, so don't be surprised. Be sure to give us updates!

SnoWhite... I'm in the housebreaking stage, too! We just got our puppy this past Saturday. She's nearly 8 weeks old.

Congrats on the little westie. We have one and she is very stubborn and independent minded but a cutie and a character. Definately train her young and the crate training is great. Our other westie was great with the kids when they were little. He would let us know when they awake or needed any thing. I love westies! Good luck, she is adorable!
