We finally won something.

My youngest and I went to DL today and we were walking from NOS to BTMRR when I saw the white vests. We walked up and they said congratulations. We won Dream Fast Passes. We were so excited. You would have thought we won the dream suite. We were high fiving eachother. It was funny. But it was the first thing we have won since they started YMD.

We've been many times this past year with our APs and never won anything either! But that's ok. I know I'm lucky just to be there. Not that I'd mind winning of course!

I was wondering how do they give out the dream suite? Does someone approach you. I can't imagine them walking around in their white vest trying to pick someone without droves of people following them.

They select the winner of the suite the same as all other prizes. It is completely random.

Ex:
The Dream Squad cast members are told about 30 minutes before hand, "You need to be at the exit of Buzz Lightyear at 9:30am." They do not know at that point what they are giving away. At 9:30am they are told, "Starting at 9:34am, the 3rd person with a hat to exit the ride wins Fantasmic Priority Seating."

9:34am hits. They watch and count. And BINGO - WINNER!

Some prizes are just for that person and their party, others (like FastPasses) are given out to many at the given place and time. My understanding is if the prize is valued at more than a certain amount they will ask you questions re: whether you work for Disney or related companies, etc....

I have never won - or even been close to Dream lightning, but have asked Dream Squad CMS how it works. The above is what I was told.

We won a front row reserved seat for the Hillbillies.
Son and I were sharing a really big sticky bun on main street. A cast member in blue started talking to us, asked if we'd ever seen the show (we hadn't) and gave us a certificate for that afternoon. The show was great and we went again the next day.
Turns out or what we think is the guy was one of the performers the first time we went. At least it looked like him.
This was 3 weeks ago.

My daughter & I won dream fast passes to. Was a great feeling so I know what you mean!! People were walking by us, looking at our passes & saying comments. We thought "we rock!" haha. It was great! Congratulations!

We got the Dream FP yesterday coming off Dumbo. I was so excited, until I realised that most of the rides were a walk on anyway. Also Grizzly, Buzz and Autopia FP distributions are closed for the "off" season. But hey what a great souveneir.

Congratulations! I'm just wondering, if you see the CMs in white vests standing around, can you just go up to them and ask them if they are giving away something? During my last trip there I walked by a group of them but I was too shy to go up to them and ask if they were giving away something. I thought that if they were giving away something they would kind of call me over?!? I did see someone go up to them and leave with a Dream FP but by that time I had to catch up to my family. (I've always regretted not going up to the CMs to find out, though!)
