Well, we finally bit the bullet... 300 points at BCV. We split the points into 2 contracts of 150.

Special thanks to everyone over the past year who has answered our 100 or so questions! Your advice was invaluable.

It was such a big decision for us, I hope it was the right one!

Maybe we'll actually get to meet some of you at the quiet pool!

Congratulations and WELCOME HOME! :) :)

Welcome Home! You're the first person I got to say that to as we too just bought 260 pts at the BCV. Aren't you excited and anxiously awaiting your FedEx box?

What is the advantage of splitting up points and how do you pick the increments. We are considering purchasing 270 shares at VWL. should i split it up?:(

Welcome Home Neighbor!!!

Danky - I can't say speficially why invalid split his/her contracts in two but I think one of the reasons people might split large contracts is that if anything happens and they have to sell, you have the option of possibly keeping one contract. I believe it's also easier to sell the smaller contracts than it would be if you tried to sell a large one. At least that was always my thinking on this issue of splitting large points between two contracts. Then two I've seen posted on this board that someone may have two children and want to leave each an individual contract. I am sure there are other reasons behind this as well. Anyway, just my two cents worth!

I understand better now. So if i buy a 270 point contract, i can only sell a 270 point contract? Do I have the option of selling 100 of the 270 if i wanted? Or is that not possible to break up a contract into 2 separate ones?

Thanks for all your help:D

No, you can not split a 270 point contract by selling 100 points and keeping 170 points. This is a very good reason to by 2 smaller contracts.....spruce
