We Eight, Ate And Ate! Our Thanksgiving 2009 DxDP! Updated 12/22 Boma!

no...I just don't eat entree's. I dunno why I guess they just don't appeal to me. Oh and I don't eat steak. Although I have ventured out and gotten the cheesy chick at TGIFriday's which would be considered a big girl meal.

Oh gosh... I am all confused now....I was on the KK1 cruise I guess but wasn't that the 2nd cruise for some of them? And this last one was the 3rd and BOBers one? :scared1:

Thanks for reading and I am glad you liked my HUGE pictures... I only seem to know how to make them thumbnails or HUGE. :confused3

Actually, we were known as the Konked Kruiser Cruise (October 07). It didn't become KK1 until we came back and many of us decided to cruise together again (October 09). That new thread/group was called Bash on the Boat (B.O.B) and some of us just called it KK2.

Clear as mud? :lmao:

Anywho, I'm glad to know that I didn't miss you now. ;)

I really enjoyed your humor on the first page. Told my husband, but he didn't get what I thought was funny.
Anyway,

ON WITH THE REPORT PLEASE!!!

Can you imagine the discussion that wait staff probably have over people like us and others that are worse? :rotfl:

Loving your reviews so far!:thumbsup2

Thank you! I'm glad you stopped by!:banana::banana:

Ok... I feel better too cause I was all confused for a minute. So the first one acutually had no name and was named on the one I went on. Ok... So perhaps there will be a KKcubed cruise? Alaska maybe? :confused3

Not everyone gets my odd humor... but it cracks me up so that is good to have laughter in your life right? Keeps me young... :rotfl2:

I am ready to continue... just need to find those pictures of O'hanna and get busy! :rolleyes1

Ohhh poo, I've confused you even more now Susan. Yes, The October 2007 cruise had a name of Konked Kruisers when we started our thread. When we all returned from that cruise and decided to cruise together again, we just added the "1" on the end of the Oct 07 cruise making it KK1. Then the October 2009 cruise kind of became KK2 to some of us. Officially, Brenda (Oybolshoi) named it Bash on the Boat. I shortened it to B.O.B and Heather came up with the catchy phrase of "I'm with B.O.B....are you"? Since we had so many new DISers on that thread it didn't seem fair for us to call it KK2.

As for a KKcubed/KK3/BOB2 cruise, you'll just have to stayed tuned to the cruise threads. ;)

::::::Thump!::::::::

I'll stay tuned :thumbsup2 You guys made for the best cruise ever!

Ok... let me first start by saying that although I clearly remember us taking pictures... I cannot find them anywhere so I am assuming they are on someone's phone. :rolleyes1 I have improvised as any great DIS'er would do and well... :scared1:... stole pictures from someone else! :sad2: Have I no shame? Apparantly not. So if these happen to be your pictures, know that I apparantly thought they were some of the best out there. :rolleyes1 I did not grab pictures with people's family in them...HOWEVER I recently read a PTR that did that very thing and I have to say it was the funniest part of my day!

So Friday night we head to Ohana. We did stop at the GF to see their Christmas decorations and then headed on over. It was CHAOS there! I also had planned to get a Lapu Lapu to enjoy before the meal but thought better of it as it is so big and I knew it would fill me up. After all, remember our lunch? (I would insert a little fat piggie smiley here if I had one!)

So we check in at 8PM and there are no seats anywhere to be found. We had an 8:20 ADR and I guess I thought it would be a little less crowded. WRONG! I was kind of excited about this reservation because so many people loved it. I did not think that my family would find it to be their favorite- Mary does not like much meat, T1 does not like coconut, and T2 doesn't, well, like much of anything. :rolleyes1

We are finally seated at 8:30.. not a bad wait for an 8:20 ADR. We sit for a while with our bread and wait. Then the salad comes. Then another large group is seated next to us... with a ton of small children.

So the waiter who is now taking the drink orders for the next table looks over at us sitting there and I guess realizes he forgot to take care of us. :rolleyes1

So while getting them their drinks he sends someone over with plates for us. :scared1: So we get some salad and bread and one bite into the bread I remember that CK2 is allergic to coconut... and I SNATCH his bread off his plate so fast he doesn't really even notice. I then tell him it has coconut in it.

Finally, with bread all gone and salad 1/2 eaten, our server takes our drink order. :rolleyes1 No apologies, No "I'll be right with you all", No nothing. Ok.. so we give him our drink orders and I want to say that Uncle orders his drinks with no ice. He does not like cold things. He is often cold. Ice makes it worse.

So then the sauce and food comes. Umm....still no drinks.

(Don't I steal just the best looking food porn pictures? :rotfl:)

So we start eating and T2 only has bread on his plate. Nothing else really looks good to him. I suggest he eat a wing since they are not spicy. We all begin to eat and the boys are on 2nds by the time we get drinks.

Then the meat skewers begin to circulate. None brought by our waiter as many have said their waiter brought them himself....

IMG_0513-1.jpg

This was not our waiter so don't bash him for our bad service. It gets better. (That is sarcasm you hear in my typing )

So by this time another waiter is now helping ours who is actually waiting on the other table, which tells me he does know how to. :thumbsup2 I think this man was being trained. He was very nervous. He brought us refills of drinks and asked which meats we might want 2nds of and had someone else bring them.

So let's just say we were here a LONG time. We waited at least 15 minutes for drinks, at least 10 for plates and were there almost an hour before meats came around to us. And often times, only half the table was served something and the other half had to wait until 2nds of that meat came back by....(always by someone else's server).

So we watched the lady's show two full times and the kids do their coconut race twice as well. By the way, the first show the lady was flirting with Uncle! Woohoo! This was funny to us of course. :rotfl2: The second time, she came over and really flirted and dropped 8 lays over his head, one by one by one. We are not really sure if she was told to by the manager who came over after waiter #2's incident or not.

So the kids really didn't know how to peel the shrimp so I peeled a lot of them. Thankful for those little towels. I knew I was in trouble when T1 said, "Hey, these still have legs on them!". This also meant that T2 was not going to eat them even after having them peeled. The chicken we got was not cooked all the way. The steak was ok. The pork and turkey were not really anything to write home about and I couldn't even tell which was which. We never got the sausages. Half the table never got pork and turkey so we shared ours with them. We mainly got shrimp.

But we did love all the stuff they give you at the beginning. My favorite was the wings. T2 ended up liking the noodles. He ate the whole bowl on his end. CK1 and CK2 ate well and T1 ate a ton of shrimp. Uncle liked most of the meats as he likes his rare. Mary liked the veggies and noodles and chicken.

So then we waited for dessert. The table next to us had got theirs, ate it, asked for another plate of hot towels to clean their 6 small children up, did one more coconut broom race and had left. The dining room was getting more and more empty and our waiter #2 was cleaning tables off.

:rolleyes1

We did not complain because we were fed. And the man was busy... just not with us. Then all of a sudden we see our dessert and then Uncle is jumping in his seat. Excitement maybe? Umm... NO!

Waiter #2 dumped a glass of coke filled with ice down his back. And as he jumped, Uncle scared the man and he tipped his full tray and dumped another two or three cups of ice along with it. :scared1:

Uncle was super nice about it really... I was rather proud of him. He tends to be very LOUD over the most minor of things but he was a perfect gentleman here. :littleangel:

The man apologized purfusely and ran off to get cloth napkins to dry his back off. We worked on him for a while and Uncle put on his coat and was very gracious to the waiter. Pretty soon the manager came out and apologized as well.

We ate our ice cream and paid and left.

Will we go back again. No. Was it because of the waiter? No. Was it because we got lousy service? No. Was it because we just thought that it would be something more than it was? Yes. Just not our thing. Would I try it for breakfast? No. Why? Because I tried Kona and it would be hard to top that now wouldn't it?

We walked out onto the pier and looked at the beautiful castle and the wonderful pool and then headed back to our resort for the night.

Up next Le Cellier!

I've been known as a thread killer before...but this is the first time I have killed my own thread! :rotfl2: Oh well, on with the show! Hopefully I will get on to Le Cellier tonight... Work keeps interferring!

Work keeps interferring!

Tell me about it....that's actually what happened to me regarding your 'Ohana post -- I read about half of it shortly after your first posted it and then got interrupted and wasn't able to get back to it until just now.

Anyway, sorry to hear about your lousy service and spilled drinks and undercooked meat. I think we caught it on a good night, or had a good server, when we went there over the summer. I've read mixed reviews on it.

We could have gotten more vocal about our complaints on the service but I didn't really see need as it wasn't as if the server wasn't working.. just not for us. As for the undercooked meats, i am not the first to have noticed that, but regardless, we were not leaving starving you know? The drink being spilled is just one of those things that happens. So basically, the service stunk and that could have been changed only by the desire of the waiter to do that.

This was my favorite restaurant of all times. Partly, i'm sure, due to the fact that I was so sick on our last trip and until the last day, really didn't taste much and wanted only to sleep. This was a last day meal for us then, so it was soooo super great to me! Will it still be?

We were to eat at 11:30, right at opening. So as we are approaching I see a little kiosk set up before the walkway to Le Cellier for check in. I was very puzzled as I didn't know they did that ever. So we check in and he tells us to go on down to the waiting area. No buzzer or anything. I thought it was weird. Well, we go down and there was 2 other families there. No one else.

We saw one bench that we were going to share and played musical chairs fighting over rights to sit versas stand. As soon as our butts where in position, they called our names... well, only one name, not each of the 8 of us!

We sat right next to the bathrooms but all together which was not something I knew they would be able to do or not. The place was empty so i thought we might get in and out fairly quickly even. :rolleyes1

We ordered drinks, the kids ordered smoothies. Those fabulous bread sticks were brought to the table and our server told us to let him know the favorites and he would make sure we got a good supply of them.

lecelier.jpg

The pretzel ones were the favorite of most, 2 of the kids loved the sourdough the best though. Our drinks arrived, we ordered and asked for more bread to be brought with the appetizers (that lovely cheese soup screams to have bread dipped into it!)

The whole place began to fill up and that is when I realized that if you go right when a place opens, your server will be so bogged down that it will surely effect your speed of service. He kept in close contact but drink refills were few and far between, the breadsticks came only when the entrees did so it wasn't as desired for that course. But he was a good server, doing his dang best with all his tables.

Auntie, Mary, Me, and T1 had the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup - Made with Moosehead Beer and Bacon Bowl $6.99

DSCN4447-1.jpg

Uncle had Sauteed Prince Edward Island Mussels - with celery, shallots, ginger, garlic, and coconut milk $11.99

DSCN4451.jpg

CK1 had Duck Three Ways - Confit, Rillette, and Fleischnecke with Orange Gastrique $12.99

DSCN4450.jpg

T2 got Tomato Stack - with Carmelized Onions, Cucumbers, Crumbled Blue Cheese, and Yuzu Vinaigrette $8.99

DSCN4446.jpg

CK1 got Spicy Chicken and Chipotle Sausage - with Roasted Corn Polenta and Sweet Onion Jam $9.99

DSCN4448.jpg

There was not a lot of sharing going on during this time. Except for T1's tomato stack as he didn't order it for himself. :rolleyes1 That was a gift for the Uncle/Aunt combo. Aunt did not like the soup and passed it down to the other end of the table for the teens to devour.

We did order our entrees, but truthfully, we were already pretty full and could have left like that or had dessert and left. I am going to go in Feb and just have soup and dessert. Has anyone done that before? Do they get a little tifted that you don't do the whole kit and kaboodle?

Uncle and CK 2 ordered New York Strip Steak - with bercy butter, balsamic red onions, watercress, and roasted Yukon potatoes, $30.99

DSCN4455.jpg

T2 got Grilled Steak Burger - topped with house-made onion ketchup and your choice of cheddar or blue cheese $12.49

DSCN4453.jpg

The rest of us all got the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce $25.99 in some form... some substituted mashed potatoes, some said no mushrooms.

DSCN4454.jpg

On to the desserts!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

CK2 and T1 had some kind of odd dessert that is not on the menus online. Some sort of smores thing. They said it was great but hard to eat.

DSCN4456.jpg

CK1 had what he calls "the nasty pumpkin sorbet" but I think was called seasonal sorbet.

DSCN4460.jpg

Auntie had Maple Creme Brulee $6.99

DSCN4458.jpg

Uncle had the Apple-Rhubarb Crumble - served with Maple Granola Ice Cream $6.99

DSCN4459.jpg

The rest of us had Chocolate "Moose" - Chocolate Mousse rolled in Toasted Chocolate Crumbs with Maple Leaf Antlers $5.99

DSCN4457.jpg

This was NOT their favorite restaurant although it still remains to be Mary's and mine. So, we plan to go again without all of them. They can go to San Angel or Ohana.

Up Next, Boma!

I see what you are saying but how long do we have to tolerate it. I work in retail and I know things happen but I am paying for service and I really feel like I should get at least decent service. 15 minutes into the meal and you have nothing to drink nope not exceptable! I might get snarked for this but I think its ok to ask for a different server. Why should someone who isn't concerned about the task charged to them (your service) benefit from the tip that you will most likely provide?:confused3 In the real world most of us are held accountable for our perfomance shouldn't those at Disney. Hopefully it was a one time thing but.........:rolleyes1

His look over to our table while waiting on the other table that was seated after us made me think it possible that he was not told we were his table or that we were seated. And because we normally have received good service, I did give him some slack.

I have asked the manager for another server at other establishments as our lack of service was due to my life choice in partners and not because of being busy.... I guess I was hoping that once we were noticed that some Disney magic would exist and our meal would be a perfect one. Perhaps if it ever happens again, I will just speak up and nip it in the bud right away with a new server. It might have made a huge difference in our meal, you are right on that.

I'm really sorry to hear about your Ohana experience. Ours was very similar and it will be quite awhile before I will even consider going back there. Wonder if we had the same waiter? :confused3

After waiting well past our ADR, we were seated at a table that was too small, it took forever to get anything, halfway through dinner, our waiter actually sat down at our table and made himself comfortable acting like he was a member of our family. When my sister returned from the bathroom we actually had to ask him to move out of her seat. We never got some of the food items. It just wasn't worth it. Although on a positive note, the kids did have a good time at the activities.

OMG! Ours wasn't even friendly enough to sit at our table and he never even introduced himself to us. Not that I would want them to sit at the table... well, maybe at 50's primetime or something... that would be in charactor. :rotfl: With so many restaurants to choose from, I can surely find some food elsewhere. :thumbsup2

I agree with you the service at Ohana's is severely lacking.

Enjoying your reviews. :goodvibes
