Hi, I just thought of something, Mickey and Minnie are adults!! I am not sure how old they are, but, older then most of us! My husband and I went on our first cruise ever last March on the 7 day Eastern on the Magic. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. It was the best vacation I have ever had, so relaxing, and so romantic. Disney Cruise Line does a wonderful job of having separate areas for adults if you want to be away from the kids! You will have a wonderful time, and like some others have said, the kid inside you will come alive on the Magic, can't help it with all the pixie dust floating around.
We are going on our fifth Disney Cruise next month. Our children and older and no longer travel with us. We have a great time. There are a lot of couples without kids. Many kids spend their time in the clubs and their parents are kidless for awhile. Go, enjoy, no one will know if you have kids or not. If I can be honest, we enjoy not having our kids along. We also go to the parks twice a year, kidless.
Just sailed on the Magic in Feb with 3 couples, no kids....we all left our kids at home to enjoy the Magic!!! Our kids were mad they could not come but we were all celebrating 25 + years of marriage and we had the best time!!! The kids were in h.s. and college and could not take the time off anyway....but we such a great time and it was different than travelling with the kids...not better or worse, just different.
There were several couples we saw and talked to that were cruising without kids!!!
Don't worry at all about feeling funny you don't have kids....just go and enjoy...there is so much DCL has to offer for just adults!!!
We traveled with young kids and our "random dining companions" were a very nice couple with kids the same age.
We met their kids the first night, and again at breakfast the last morning. Our kids made it to two dinners on the four day cruise. Other people don't see their kids from morning to night - or only see them when they take them to the pool. The kids on the boat love this kids clubs and the Mickey Pool and the character greets - so its really completely possible to enjoy hours of DCL and not realize you are on the cruise industries biggest draw for children - they tend to be interested in different boat activities than a lot of adults. And, of course, you are more than welcome to stand in line with the little girls for a picture with Cinderella if you desire - and you won't be the only adult without children doing so. (My husband and I have a lovely photo of just us and Donald - the kids were in the club and Donald had no line).
With keeping the "Adult only areas" child-free.
We cruised on Carnival during Winter Break, and noticed that many of the "Adult only" areas were NOT enforced.
Disney did a great job with enforcing the rules on the adult only areas.
If you love Disney, you will have a great time! The ship is filled with many elegant Disney touches. There are many characters strolling the ship as well.
Good luck with your Cruise planning.
