We dealt with the SPIDERS...what will it be this year?

It's official....THE FLIGHTS ARE BOOKED!!!

We booked with United Airlines as they had the best times and prices..two things that are very important to me:lmao: The final price per ticket was $543.00...I figured it wasn't going to get much better than that so I booked.

We leave Winnipeg at 6am...I do love that first flight of the day....mostly because I know it sits overnight at the airport so there really should be no delays:lmao: We arrive in Chicago at 8:02am then leave Chicago at 10:54am and arrive in Orlando at 2:27pm.

I like the fact that we will have enough time in Chicago to grab some breakfast before boarding for Orlando. Peg and family haven't booked yet as they are using their visa points but I think she might look at booking this weekend....it just wouldn't be the same if we weren't all on the same flight!!

It must really feel "real" now!! :cool1:
That's how I always feel after actually booking a flight!! Now you're going for sure!!! :woohoo:
Wish I was going with you!! :sad1:

Have a good weekend! It's supposed to go up to 7 tomorrow!! :cheer2:

Debbie

It really does feel that way!:worship:

I am so excited for tomorrow's temperature! I am going to go grocery shopping first thing in the morning, then home for a little spring cleaning...I love nothing more than opening the windows and having that fresh clean smell:thumbsup2

Have a great weekend!

I have been a little sick about the price of airfares lately but was excited today to find one out of Winnipeg on Aug 20 (would have to book room only for that night) at 6am thru Chicago connecting to Orlando and arriving at 2ish for $522.00!! Last year I paid $484 so I didn't think that was that bad.

If we leave on Aug 21 which is the original plan it's $585.00....and after talking to Peg (she reminds me of things I don't think of:rolleyes1) the room only would be $124 and then at least one meal for each of us so really there is no savings.

I What was that? I'm not sure everyone heard you...I remind you of things you don't think of:woohoo:

Should I tell her now that we changed the dates of stay and she's on her own:rolleyes1:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

I guess I'm stuck with them so better make the best of it:yay:
She will NOT be sitting with any of our children though, last time she made poor Snow White cry and it took three:scared1: years to get her over her fear of flying...Queen and Jasmine stiil haven't gotten over their fear:sad2:
And you thought this was all fun and games for the rest of us!

Congrats on the flights!!!

Flights in June are making us sick too!

Delta which we normally fly is $285+ a ticket! We have the Gold Am Exp credit card so our bags are free. Airtran seems to be a tad cheaper but then you have to add the $40 RT for baggage and it's more than Delta.

We've debated about driving but my dad really doesn't want to...I FORGET HOW MUCH OF A PAIN AND LONG RIDE IT IS..sure. Because I've not only driven to FL and back when I moved but also drove down when my brother moved down. To be honest it was way better of a drive from Cincy to Orlando than Pittsburgh to Orlando! It just seems that 6 states is way longer than 4 haha. We'll be stalking flights just like you! I'm hoping the Airtran flights will drop because they have a TON of open seats on their non stop flights. Booking on the weekend is not an option for us as they tend to go up in price on the weekend. Just earlier I was looking at Delta and the price jumped $20 as I was looking!

Okay enough for my flights rant! I guess it's good we have both options to drive or fly..I can't imagine if you guys had to drive!

Congrats on booking the flights!!
We always drive, so I never get to have that "it's real" feeling...unless you count how real it feels when I'm stocking the van with barf bags and emergency toddler potties:rolleyes:.
On second thought, maybe I *should* consider flying!

Great price on the tix! :cool1:
So you're happy that it's the first flight of the day, are ya? No delays hunh? You may have angered the flight delay gods now. :lmao:

I love Westjet which is very similar to SOuthwest, but they are over a $1000 right now:eek:

OMG....ADR's tomorrow....can't wait to hear what you get:yay:

Holy Cow!! $1000 per person!??

I thought you meant it $543 for BOTH of you... So I guess $300 is a pretty good deal after all. I used to be able to get round trip on SWA for $69 each way! Now they don't go much lower than $120 each way. Not too often anyway. As soon as I have my ADRs done I'll post them in my current TR. Which is about to become a TR/PTR!:goodvibes

Wooooooo :cheer2:

As crazy as it sounds - booking the flights makes it so real. No turning back now, your butt has been assigned a seat on a 747! Go Time :wizard:

Hope you have fun plans for this weekend! xxoo

Woo Hoo for booking!!!!!!!!!!!! I always try to get as early a flight as possible! Last April we left at 5:30 and got there at around 9 am! This year I want to get there right around the same time or earlier :) I love having a full first day, and I normally make this either my magic kingdom day or my discovery day (resort hopping, downtown disney, etc). I was looking at ticket prices for September to see if I could afford it and I found a round-trip on Southwest for $134! I'm so happy! Now to save up enough money to pay for the trip!

Should I tell her now that we changed the dates of stay and she's on her own:rolleyes1:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

Now now...you know you have way more fun when I'm there:cool1::rotfl2:

I have to agree with you...I'm not sitting with your child....I tried my best to calm her last time and she was having none of it...so I'll just grab my window seat, my ipod and relax:eek:

Purplepeg is distressed about the two following blogs. Please read carefully all the way to the end of the posts!

Yeah....I missed it...I didn't follow your directions of "carefully read all the way to the end of the posts" good thing my sister translated for me!!:rotfl2:

I know this may sound crazy, but one of these years I would like to take 5 weeks of my holidays together and drive down....I love road trips and I would love to travel down the eastern seaboard...not quite sure when and if that will ever happen though:confused3

I looked at flights when I was on lunch and then thought I would book when I got home....and they had all jumped:sick: The next day I looked again which I was on lunch and they were back down so I booked...I wasn't taking any more chances:cool1:

I think you were trying to tell me something in this post.....do I really have to worry:eek:Clearly I have a misinformed idea of this whole "first flight of the day" thing!!

Isn't that ridiculous! When I checked Air Canada last night is was $1217 each!! Those are great flight prices!!

TR/PTR....oh don't keep me waiting...on my way to check it out:yay:

My butt does have a seat...a window seat:woohoo:

Jasmine and I are heading out shortly to do a little mother/daughter shopping before she goes to work at 3pm.....

Have a great weekend hon!!

You'll say enough I just know it!! Jasmine is taking every extra shift she can right now...I don't think she has one day off in the next 2 weeks, but thankfully, a couple of those shifts are only 4 hours each!!

Congratulations on booking airfare! We usually drive, so I don't really know if it makes it feel more real. I agree, airline prices are crazy lately. Sounds like you got a relatively good deal, though. :thumbsup2

Thanks Kate:goodvibes I was pretty happy with the price...I did what I said I wasn't going to do yesterday and I checked the prices:rolleyes1 Now, in my defense, my sister hasn't booked yet so I was checking for her....and they were up a $100 per person...so happy I booked:cool1: They're using points so they only have to pay the taxes so I'm sure it's not going to make that big a difference for them.

Good morning everyone:goodvibes

Up bright and early this morning because we're on our way out the door to get our taxes done...I am not looking forward to it, but at least this year I am prepared if it's a zinger like last year!!

Jasmine decided to come with me so her Uncle Eric and do her's to (that's my BFF's hubby). Then I think we'll give my sis a call and pop in there and see about these flights and getting them booked.

As I sit here it was pouring rain and now it's snowing:sad2:It's one of those days for Dis-ing or reading a book...think I'll do a little of both later on.

I'll be back with another update later....and the bad news on the taxes:headache:

Wow, did I miss a lot! We were gone (also to the States) for the kids spring break and just got back yesterday. If I had dropped the ADR phone like you did, I think I would have just lost it and burst into tears! How lucky you were able to reconnect with the CM!
I am very jealous of your ressies, you have some of our favourites on there, especially Le Cellier and Boma. Ah, that cheddar cheese soup is so good.
The cost of flying from here is really crazy, which is great for me, because I can always use that to argue with DH against flying! But if we do fly next time, unless the Westjet prices are good, we will be driving down to fly out of a US airport.
Can you believe snow in April?

We had the snow on April Fool's day. It was a lovely drive home from work. Today is sunny but a bit on the cool side.

We were just watching some of the trip videos of the UK family; they are fantastic but they sure do make you want to pack up and head out right now. August is too far away!

Good luck with your taxes.

That's exactly what I'm doing this morning too!! Getting my taxes organized to take to the accountant!! It takes me awhile to get my home business stuff all organized and I'm procastinating by reading the Dis Boards!!1

This snow is disgusting!!! What happened to spring? Did we miss it!?
DD has to drive back to Brandon today in this mess and DS and DIL are on their way back to Winnipeg from Kenora! We're going to go look at a house tonight with them as they are house hunting now!!

Have a good day! Good luck with your taxes!!

Debbie

Fingers crossed for good news on your taxes! :goodvibes

Thanks Dawn....got all the way to their house and I'm missing one of my receipts! To make matters worse it's the big one for my RSP (which I think is like your 401K) so I have to print another one off from work tomorrow:rolleyes1 so frustrating....but Jasmine is getting a refund ... more spending money!!

First off...I have to comment on the snow too....I think we had spring yesterday and now we're back to winter

Hope you enjoyed your time off at spring break...did you get any really good deals?

Which US airport are you thinking of flying out of? I was quite serious about driving to Minneapolis and getting SW out of there, but I figured I got a pretty good deal with these flights!!

Yesterday was a beautiful spring day, sun shining, had the windows open while we were doing the housework and then heard we were going to get 10 - 15 cm today...fortunately they changed it to 5 and it's stopped now...and there is no accumulation thank goodness:rolleyes1

August is far away....I haven't checked my Lotto Max ticket yet:rolleyes1

I think we had spring yesterday....I hope your DD doesn't have a horrid drive...seems to be stopping now...we'll keep our fingers crossed.

How exciting...I love house hunting...when it's not for us:rotfl2:

Have a great day!!!
