Hellooooooooooooooo humans!!!
Welcome to my We couldnt stay away PTR! For all the readers who are new, welcome! To all my old readers and friends, thanks for joining in once again! This PTR is for a trip that I never thought would be happening I mean, were getting married in just over a year and we need to save all our hard earned money for the wedding and, of course, our Disneymoon! So, how did I end up being able to not only afford another trip, but convince my fiancé Chris that we should go? Well, youll just have to read on to find out! For anyone out there who was reading my short-lived June 2011 TR, you know I had an epic FAIL there. It was abandoned. Honestly, I think it was due to the Disney blues I was already having as soon as we got back and the fact that I was SURE we werent going to be back for so long! Or so I thought
Anyway, this PTR will NOT be abandoned. I repeat, it will NOT be abandoned! Im too excited to abandon it because instead of having to wait over 12 more months to be in our Happy Place, it will only be just over 3 months! That is amazing!!
First for some quick intros Im Kristen and Im 24. My fiancé is Chris and he is 27. Im 3 months away from finishing my Masters degree in Adolescent Education and also work part time at a local credit union. Chris is a full time cable technician but his real loves are cars and sports, specifically hockey (Go Rangers!!) and football (Go Giants!!). We have been together for 4 ½ years and as you can see, we will be getting married October 28, 2012. Honestly, neither of us could be happier.
Here is us in our engagement pictures, taken in June at the Polynesian
And here we are last year on a trip we took at the same time as our BFFs, Tinkgurl and her fiancé
We are Disney fanatics. Ive been for quite some time now but I finally feel comfortable adding Chris to that *elite* category that all us DISers belong in! When I said I had to convince Chris to go on this trip, it wasnt because he didnt want to go to WDW. Actually, it was HIM that got me to go and price out a trip! You see, last week Chris texted me while he was at work and I was student teaching and said I really wish we could go to Disney again before our honeymoon. Well, he certainly didnt need to tell me twice! Only 3 days prior to that I had gotten an email for Disney Visa holders for a room only discount for January and February. I ignored it at the time but quickly logged on to Disneyworld.com on my phone and priced out a value resort for 4 nights at the beginning of January. Pop was my first thought but they only had preferred rooms left and this was going to have to be as cheap as possible. Long story short, ASMu was slightly cheaper and weve never stayed there so I went ahead and booked it, just in case!
My wheels got turning on how this would work and I realized that I could use this as part (most of) my Christmas presents from my parents! Chris could do the same and Id pay for whatever they didnt as part of my Christmas present to him! Heres where the convincing came in. Chris wasnt sure he wanted to give up other Christmas presents! Lol This would be the only way wed be able to go because our money we have been saving could not be used for anything but the wedding and Disneymoon. At first, Chris was against it. No matter what I said, he wouldnt agree. So, then I told him I was going either way and if he didnt go, my mom would go with me. I told him I didnt want Christmas to come and go, he get whatever presents that he wanted and then a week later, me be leaving for WDW with my mom and he regret his decision. He started to see where I was coming from but still was on the fence. 2 days later I get a text from another good friend of ours, Lauren (lauren_elizabeth on the DIS) telling me they were going at the end of January/beginning of February and that we should change our dates and go then. I went on Disneyworld.com again to check prices and found ASSp $20 cheaper for January 31-February 4 than ASMu would be earlier in the month. I texted Chris and told him Laurens and her beautiful family would be going and they wanted us to change our dates and go with them. His exact words? If theyre definitely going, book it. Wooooo!! Unfortunately, Lauren and her family aren't going now because they're going to Cancun in March! How sad for them!
Luckily, we're still going. Once I got the idea in Chris' head, he couldn't give it up!
ADDED OCTOBER 27:: We have two new travel partners to add to this trip! Our good friends, Joe and Sam! Let me give them some quick intros.
Joe is 22 and works with Chris at the cable company, which is how they met. The two of them actually got hired at the same time to the company, trained together, and moved shops together. They have a lot in common including (and especially) their love of cars. Joe currently goes to school as well for computers (not sure of his exact major).
Sam is 21 and has been Joe's girlfriend since she was 15! We actually all went to the same high school but because of our age differences, we didn't know each other until the boys started working together. Sam and I also go to the same college now, although she's doing her undergrad while I'm in grad school. She also works part time for Estee Lauder (aka she gets a lot of free makeup and perfume, lol).
Here are Joe and Sam
Here is Sam and I, out having fun over the summer (we're really sweaty in this pic, gross!)
ADDED OCTOBER 28:: Somehow we were able to save $25 per reservation if we switched our resort to Pop...so we did! Chris and I love it there!!
Heres a little recap now:
Who? Chris, Joe, Sam and I
When? Jan. 31-Feb.4, 2012
Where? Pop Century Resort
Why? Because were obsessed with Disney and couldnt stay away!
Dining? No dining plan for Chris and I, but we will be eating quick service for all meals and breakfasts in the hotel room with food we bring this will be the most BUDGET trip weve ever taken. Still looking forward to yummy QS Disney food
Joe and Sam will have the dining plan. I made ressies for them and will add them later in the PTR!
Tickets? I am proud to announce Chris and I are officially WDW Annual Passholders for the first time! Well, not officially yet since we havent traded in our vouchers for the actual APs yet. But, you know what I mean! This was also part of the way I got Chris to agree to this trip. We were planning on buying APs when we went on our Disneymoon in October anyway, so we just are buying them now and thats one less thing we need to worry about for later. Plus, this allows us to get the Tables in Wonderland card for 20% off almost all meals! Bonus!
Im sure Ive somehow forgotten something in all my rambling but Ill get to it at some point! Hope youre all in for a fun ride with us!! Thanks for reading!!
