I also purchased SSR yesterday (250 points) so I guess we'll be neighbors
I knew nothing about the banking policy so I'm glad I read this thread. I talked to my rep and she explained it to me. It does seem a little petty but what the hay, we are still excited and happy about our purchase.
Funny thing, we did the same thing as you with the Credit Card and that was one of the contributing factors to purchasing. I was able to put the entire amount ($22,500) on my Marriott card which puts me over the top for Three 5 day Park Hopper Tickets for free!! I fly so much that I usually get 5-7 free tickets per year (more than I use) so I use the Marriott card for all purchases to get these free Park Hopper passes. How much are these passes worth now? I can't remember.
We will also pay it off next month and thus not pay any interest. I can't believe Disney accepts credit cards for this purchase since they are surely losing around 2% by doing so. Anyway, good for us, bad for them.
See you around!!
MDF
BTW: We chose the August Use Year.
